Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR MOVIES Resort

I was looking over this board, and noticed that it stated that the bus transportation was pretty good for this resort. We just got back from our 2nd stay here, and this last time the bus problem was even worse than the last August. We were told by a driver that they are over 400 drivers short, and that problem just keeps growing. It was nothing to wait 45 minutes one way for a bus, and that was just anytime. We noticed that there were usually twice as many busses for the moderate/deluxe resorts. The only value resort that had plentiful busses was pop. Between the bus situation, and the rudiness of the front desk, its highly unlikely we would stay here again or recommend it. I hope that when we decide to go again that we can afford to upgrade.

Looking at a map of Disney property and trying to guage whether ASMo is close enought o Blizzard Beach and Animal Kingdom to walk there?

Or does anyone know how much it would cost by cab to each of these?

Looking at this as an alternate to waiting for the bus unless someone knows if Disney bus runs fairly regularly to these two parks.

Thanks,

Theoretically you could walk to Animal Kingdom but there is no footpath and it would be frowned upon I'm sure. Your best bet is to use the buses - they run early and well after the parks close. You'll be able to get them to both.

Well, we're heading to ASMo in just a few more days with a crew of 7 kids total. The age range is from 2-13.

We're relying on the bus transportation, although we will have a rental car for DH/DS's trip to Daytona and our grocery/beverage runs.

I promise I'll post all about it when I get back.

Well when we were at ASMo last summer the only bus we had to wait for really was AK and that was probably a hot hot hot 25 min wait. March 2005 we waited almost an hour at POR for an AK bus...but we went on an early EMH day the day before Easter on spring break. All of POR and POFQ went there too because when a horrible storm came thru and just wouldn't quit, the bus depot for those resorts went all the way thru the queing area and back to the front of the depot from the very back. I guess what I'm trying to say is you hear the same story from all the resorts really sometimes the busses are great sometimes they are slow. :confused3

Um, no

While they may be close enough, the roads are NOT set up for pedestrian traffic. It is not safe. Furthest you whould walk is out to the McDonalds outside the All Star's gate.

Animal Kingdom would be TOO FAR for sure.

I have never had an issue with bus transportation at ASMo.

I've heard of Andy's room within the ASMo, but I'm wondering where it is? Can someone help? I've booked a preferred room location already but would love for the kids to be close to this. Is it facing the pkg. lot or the courtyard? Anyone know what number room would be closest to Andy's room?

The Andy's room display is in what you could call the courtyard, where all the Toy Story buildings meet. It is cool, lot's of good spots for fun pictures. The kids can sit in RC, climb on some blocks, have a giant Buzz standing behind them. Even the adults can look like little kids reaching for the doorknob on the door to "Andy's Room".

If you just leave your building and walk to the main walkway from the Toy Story section to the pools/check in building/foodcourt, it's right there.

rooms numbered 0x01-0x05, 0x60-0x64, 9x01-9x05, 9x60-9x64 will be closest.

I have a trip planned for September of this year. Last year (our first trip) I stayed at All Star Music and loved it but this year we switched to All Star Movies 'cause it seems a little more "Disney".

A few things I am looking for in a room, in order of imporntance, are:
1. non Smoking
2. King Bed
3. close to Cinima Hall and Laundry
4. first floor

Currently I have a request in for non smoking, king room located on the first floor of Fantasia Building #8 as close to cinima hall as possible.

First of all is this a possible "combination" for a room? If it is, then is it the best request for what I am looking for and if it is not, then what would be the best request for what I am looking for?

Also should I just leave it at putting my request on my reservation or should I fax it in and if so when should I fax it?

Also, Feel free to leave me any other All Star Movies Advice you think I should know!! ;)

Sorry for all the questions... I know the disboards are the place to get my answers though!!! :thumbsup2

Great thread! :thumbsup2 We will be staying at ASMo in October. We have stayed many times at Music and Sports before, but this will be the first for Movies  .

We have booked a preferred room. My first request is non-smoking. After that it would be a big deal for us to be very close to the pool. Noise will probably not be a factor because we are pretty well used to sleeping in a noisy situation. Plus, the kids (9 and 6) would love being close to the pool. After that, I would like to be close to the bus stop -only for the sake of saving a few steps at the end of the day (this is not a big deal, but in a perfect world...). Theming is not an issue for us. I think we would be equally happy with Dalmations, TS, or Fantasia. Right now I am thinking of requesting:

1) non-smoking
2) Fantasia #8
3) facing courtyard
4) ground level

Does this sound about right? Will they think I am a wierdo for making so many specific requests?

Some correct me if I am wrong on this, but I believe that the laundry is down by mighty ducks, which isn't close to the cinema hall. Also I don't know if you know or not but the fantasia building is a preferred building. We found out when we went in a couple weeks ago that all building except love bug and mighty ducks are preferred.

Fantasia always was preferred. I guess TS and DALM got so many req, that WDW is capitalizing on them too. Also, the only smoking permitted in rooms is in one of the MD buildings :teacher:

If you can't get in Fantasia, ask for Dalmation, building one. You are close to both pools and Cinema Hall/Bus depots. Call the resort directly, (407) 939-7000, one week before you arrive to confirm your request. Arrive as early as possible. Buy the resort refillable mugs.

I read on some travel pages that Silver Screen, the pool eatery, has a continental breakfast. Is this old info? If not, how much is it and what do they have? Anyone know? TIA!

We'll be staying at ASMo in August. We have a Buzz loving 3 year old and a 7month old. We need a quiet room for afternoon naps for both of them and DS LOVES Buzz so I'm thinking I'll request Buzz, 2nd or 3rd floor, courtyard as suggested. My only concern is the distance from Buzz to the pool. I figure DS will be in it a bit each day but it looks kind of far from the bldg on the map.... how far is this? Also, when we booked, the only rooms left were preferred. I tried to request TS then but was told that all that was left was preferred so it would be Fantasia. We booked in May and I requested an upper floor but didn't specify a building because of it. (by the way, this was the same CM who said I should buy a few extra days of tickets instead of the park hopper which I've since learned won't work!)

Does that mean we will be in Fantasia or that they were switching TS and Dalm to preferred and the CM didn't know about it?

Should I call and fax my request now or must it be done when booking?

Joanne
