Resort Thread Disney's ALL-STAR MOVIES Resort

Thanks. I figure I'll give a call and see if they can specify TS for me.

Anyone have any info on the distance from TS to the pool?

Also, if I request Courtyard, will it be overly noisy because of Andy's room? The baby will be napping in the afternoon and will be going to bed most nights at 7:30pm. Is there a better location to request?

Thanks!

Joanne

We just returned from a 10 day stay at ASMo. We recieved a complimentary upgrade to Preferred rooms. Our rooms were in bulding 9 (Woody), first floor, rooms 9724 and 9725. Friends of ours had room 9726. Our rooms were close to everything, yet far away from the courtyard to be nice and quiet. Our rooms did not face the courtyard. That wound up to be a good thing since it was quieter.

The rooms were plenty big, although we did have connecting rooms. I think that if we only had the one room I might have felt cramped though. DH and I stayed in the first room while 4 girls shared the beds in the connecting room and my DS slept on a twin size air mattress in that room.

However, somehow in the middle of the night our 2 littlest girls wound up finding their way into me and DH's beds in the first room, lol.

There is plenty of room for a twin size air mattress if you put it where the table and chairs goes. You can either move the table and chairs in front of the window or put them in the other room if you have connecting rooms.

Here's a photo of just how much room we did have in the room with the air mattress.

Mousekeeping even made up DS's air mattress with fresh linens each day.

I should also mention that the beds at ASMo ARE movable. We first thought we would put DS's air mattress in between both beds. We tried that first, but wound up putting it where the table was because it just worked out better that way.

Hope this helps with the planning!

Thanks for the tip on the air mattress! We are going to take DD one for our Oct. trip and weren't sure where to put it! Great picture and help! :thumbsup2

I am just in the dreaming stage for a quick Christmas trip. We went last year and it was nice and quiet. I would love to stay at POFQ but need to downsize the cost since it will be the week before Christmas.

My DS suggested staying at ASMo and trying to get a Herbie room for DD. I stayed at ASMo last year but it was only for 2 nights and we didn't really tour the grounds, pool and only used the food court 1 night because it was pouring out.

Anyway, does anyone have any pics of the Herbie rooms? Any thoughts on the Herbie rooms? We won't be using the buses since I will have my car.

TIA

Hi, I posted this in the main resort forum, but that was before I found this spectacular thread!! :cheer2: So copying and pasting:

Just wondering about this ahead of time, not really important, but if anyone has the answer I'd be happy to know it.
Ok, our trip is the first week of October. It will be the first trip to the World for my mom, her boyfriend, and my younger sister. My mother is a smoker (I know, bad, but I cant stop her, she's a big girl  ), and so we have two connecting, smoking rooms booked. They are also preferred rooms. So does anyone know exactly where the preferred smoking rooms are at AS Movies? I think they are in Fantasia 2000, but not entirely sure.
This is just for my own curiosity, it really doesnt matter, but maybe someone else has been in the same situation and has the answer.
Thanks a bunch!!

Alarm clocks:

Are they furnished or do I bring my own??

Hair Dryers:

Does every room have one mounted on the wall or should I bring my own??

(can't wait for our 1st onsite trip at ASMo in about a month!!!!)

Hopefully I can help some of the most recent posters out...

As far as smoking goes...I was in a non-smoking room. There was a little card in the room saying no smoking in this room please....if you are a smoker please let the housekeeper/front desk know and they will provide you with an ashtray (or something to that effect...but written more fancy-like, lol)

Anyway...nobody in my party smokes. BUT...the room next to us did. When we returned to our rooms one day we found an ashtray sitting on top of the fire extinguisher that was in between our rooms (our room was 9724...theirs was 9723). Once in a while we would see the couple having a puff on the sidewalk area. I do not like cigarette smoke at all and honestly I can say that I didn't find the pair offensive in any way. The smoke odor did not migrate over into our room. And on the chance occasion we walked past them while they were having their puff, it was not nearly as bad as when we walked past any smoking area inside the parks. Inside the parks you can definitely tell when you are walking past the smoking area.

Someone else asked about the hair dryer...yes there is one, but it is a small travel-type dryer. If you have short hair it is fine to use, but if you like to flip your hair over and dry it that way, then its no good. I was worried my daughter's hair was going to get sucked into the back of the hair dryer when she was using it.

Alarm clocks...yes there is an alarm clock. We didn't use it ever because we used the wake-up call feature on the resort phone. All you have to do is touch a button on your phone and then enter your wake up time and then confirm it and hang up. Couldn't be simpler.

Hope this helps with the planning!

Also (off topic), I just wanted to tell ChairborneRanger that I think his Royal Ranger avatar is fabulous!! My grandfather is a troop leader for our church RR group, and he enjoys it so much!! What a great program for boys, glad to see you are involved in it!!

It is our first visit to ASMO.

Is there a gift shop? What time does it close? Does it sell the autograoh books? popcorn::

Thanks :bounce:

Yes, there is a gift shop. I want to say that they closed around 11pm or midnight. They sell a nice selection of things including autograph books. They do sell microwave popcorn and regular already popped popcorn, but the already popped kind is either cheesy, caramel, or something like that.

Anything else in particular that I can help you with?? Just LMK.

I havent been since '99  but my dd who will be 15 when May/June finally rolls around :rolleyes1 is muchly looking forward to that :cheer2:

:thumbsup2 Brilliant value hotel. We stayed in Lovebug 7, third floor. Excellent - quiet, clean, a few minutes walk to pool and food court, disney buses excellent. What problem with barely a five minute walk to the pool, reception, food court? We walked the entire movies hotel complex in minutes! For the price paid, the clean room, pool, etc. more than adequate, and great value  Well done Movies! :wizard: And the mousekeeping? Brilliant!

If I want to have a fridge in the room do I call ahead of time?

Yes, you should call and make the request before you arrive as it's first come first serve.

I already have that request on my reservation.

It's $10 per day.

How has bus service been lately? There was a post a couple of pages ago with complaints about bus service? When was the last time the rooms were renovated?
Thanks. :sunny:
