So, I booked me and Shawn's trip to Pop Century for 11 nights in December, and the balance is due 45 days before we arrive.... I'm assuming the same will be true of our honeymoon... My things is, no wedding guest even thinks of what to buy 45 days before the wedding... Is there even a point in registering? I'm so confused and kinda annoyed. Oye. Maybe I should just call.

The "gifts" go on a "gift card" so the funds can be spent however you want. We "registered" for dinners, tours, etc... But in fact it just goes on your card as a debit to be used on disney property...at your discretion. So I think it is still a worthwhile thing to do. I figure it can help us go on some tours we might not otherwise go on, or offset our dining expenses, etc...

I was wondering the same thing. According to their FAQs
Q.
Can the Disney Gift Card for Honeymoons be used toward deposits for vacation packages purchased in advance?

A. If you booked a Walt Disney Travel Co. Magic Your Way Package or booked a room through Disney Destinations, once you have started to receive funds on your Disney Gift Card for Honeymoons you will need to contact Walt Disney Travel Co. (package) or the Disney Reservation Center (room only) at 407-W-Disney and change your form of payment to the Disney Gift Card for Honeymoons. You will then be issued a credit on your original form of payment.

Disney Vacation Club (DVC) Members who booked a reservation using their Vacation Points can instead use gift card funds to pay for their reservation. Note that changes to the reservation are subject to DVC booking policies and the standard 30-day change/cancellation policy regarding Vacation Points applies. Please contact a DVC representative at (800) ********.

Tip: To reduce the initial deposit expense when booking a stay at the Walt Disney World® Resort, only reserve room nights and use a personal credit card to pay the one-night deposit, then use the Disney Gift Card for Honeymoons to pay the balance with gifted funds.

I emailed them to clarify that, so I will post the answer when I get it!

Dear Samantha,

Thank you for your inquiry.

If you booked directly thru Walt Disney World, you can switch your
method of payment before you arrive. If you booked thru a Travel
Agent,
you will need to ask them to assit you with a change of payment.

As long as you or your travel agent contacts our reservation office at
least 2 full days before your arrival, you will be able to switch your
method of payment.

Please contact us if you have additional questions at 407-566-7272,
Monday - Friday, 9am to 5pm or use this email address.

Best Wishes,

Rochelle

That's what I thought too for our August honeymoon. But since it was Disney I decided to go ahead a register. In our situation, we have pretty much everything we need for the house, so we tried to get the word out that we really needed more help on the honeymoon than anything else.

So my friend threw us a "Disneymoon Shower" earlier this month. It went over very well. I believe we got over $500. Our money is due this Thursday, but we paid everything off on Monday.

One problem we did have, however, is that many people just gave us cash or checks. Many were intimidated by the "online thing." So either way it worked out well for us :)

Thanks! We don't really need stuff until he gets state side (he's leaving most his stuff in Germany). We probably won't need anything for about a year and don't want to pay to store stuff... I guess I will register for our honeymoon then. We have word of mouth that money is better too, cuz we really just don't need/want stuff yet just to have it sit around. Thanks though. Guess we will book it when the prices come out (we want the dining plan and you have to get a package). Thanks guys! We were hoping to set it up before the engagement party, but I don't think its gonna happen.
