Disneyland with a walking boot

My son is growing so fast that a ligament pulled a small piece of his foot bone off (left outside of foot) and now has to wear a walking boot. We see an ortho. dr on the 14th and will get an x-ray to see how he doing.

I have already decided to bring the boot as he has been in it for a few weeks and with all of the walking we will be doing I want him to have support on his foot.

What should I do to help my 10 yo son be more comfortable? We will be there the 17th of May through the 20th.
Is there anything we should ask the CM's to make his time a fun one?
how much to rent a wheel chair, if it comes to that?

Awww...poor guy! I had to wear a boot last year due to a broken ankle, and I don't think I could have walked the park all day with that thing on. The motorized scooters are $22 a day (that's what my MIL paid last Sept.). You can also enter some of the rides through the back if you have a scooter...they will give you a map of which rides apply.

Awwwwww poor man. At the very least you can always get that wheel chair that you can push him around in if he needs it. I cant imagine walking around all day in that thing. He will want some sort of comfort.

I will be arriving on the same day as you actually So close hey? and believe it or not, my best friend is is coming too had surgery on her leg (Broke her femur) and she needed surgery. Shes getting around ok, but is still needing some help. We will be getting her a wheel chair too as it will be that much easier on her when things get uncomfortable.

One benifit about that though is that if you have a wheel chair you can have front of the line access.

The ECVs are $ 45 a day plus $ 20 deposit. I am pretty sure $ 22 is the price per day for a wheelchair.

I could care less about the looks. I just want my little man to have a great time despite of his painful growth spurt. Will a CM give me the "ride scoop" when we rent the wheelchair? Oh, and what about park hopping, what happens with the chair? Is it like renting the stroller, leaving one and picking up another at the other park?

REMINDER: Wheelchairs and other mobility aids as well as the GAC do NOT get you to the head of the line. I had to wait 15 minutes for Dumbo and some rides like Toy Story, Pooh, and Bobsleds are mainstreamed so that you have to wait.

Being disabled means setting in the sun while Dumbo goes around and around and around. Lines can be very long at times.

When you rent the wheelchair, they will give you a map that indicates which rides allow you to go the front of the line (or go through the exit) and which ones will make you wait in a regular line. I think the rides that allow you to go ahead are the ones that wouldn't accomodate a wheelchair in the line. For example, Toy Story is one that doesn't take wheelchairs because there is room to maneuver it around the ropes.

There should be a sticky for this, lol.
There will be a handicapped sign usually indicating to use the exit.

Roger Rabbit, Bobsleds, Buzz Lightyear, Pooh, character homes, all DCA rides except I think Mullholland Madness, Fantasy Fair, Pixie Hollow, all shows, are through the entrance just like other guests.

• Mr. Toad go to the entrance and on the right is a little line to enter.
• Gadget's Coaster on the left at the exit you enter.
• Small World on the left side of the entrance is the wheelchair entrance.
• Splash Mountain is through the exit and usually a CM is directing traffic if the line is long.
• Haunted Mansion is mainstream line until you get near the steps then instead of going left you wait for a CM and then can use the elevator or park the wheelchair and walk on. I walk on and sometimes you are left there setting.
• Tiki Room allows you to munch on dole whips and is a mainstream entrance but they have a little elevator for wheelchair guests on the right and the CM will help you
• Nemo subs in the middle has the wheelchair entrance. If he cannot get down the stairs which are a spiral stairs the ask the CM for the nonmotion version which is in a room with bench seats for about 4 to 6 people and two ECV/stroller/wheelchair spots. You get to see the movie but not feel the ride, sigh.
• Pirates is through the exit and stay to your right as you go in unless the CM says stay to the left. It is just north of the Blue Bayou.
• Disneyland Train has a ramp on the left at all but Main Street Station, go through the exit, it will be marked.
• Space Mountain may have a line and you will see that. The line and ride entrance for disabled is clear way back by the exit which is near the restrooms. It is a long walk back between HISTA and the game arcade. They have a sweet set up for disabled riders and no hurry.
• Star Tours you walk on the outside of the line to the entrance and talk to the CM who will let you use the elevator which is much easier than the ramps.
• Monorail has cab and rear cab rides just talk to a CM and hop or walk onboard, one way trips for those. Go past the line for Nemo toward the matterhorn. At some point you can touch the railing on the laggon, now turn right and go up the exit to the elevator. Park owned strollers are left downstairs unless they have a GAC "Stroller as a whelchair" All park rentals can be taken to the side of the car or cab then the person transfers. The park property is left on the loading dock. CMs or a member of your group can park it.
• Peter Pan, Pinocchio, Dumbo, Casey Jr., Snow White, tea cups, and Alice are via the exit. Dumbo has a line to the left and is opposite sort of from the carousel. Alice is to the right of the ride. Not sure where tea cups is as me chicken. Casey Jr. is up a ramp on the left and Canal boats is on the left. Remember to stay to your right when entering through exits.
• Jungle Cruise is on the left and there is a line up place there.
• Treehouse you ask a CM and they will let you roll up to the interactive area at the end of the hike through.
• Indiana Jones you go through the exit but check with a CM as I DO NOT DO that killer ride with out a week of morphine and a chiropractor lined up for daily visits.
• Big Thunder Railroad is through the exit. When you go up the hill to the exit take the left path unless otherwise told to do so by a CM.
• Main Street vehicles allow the guest to roll up to the ride vehicle. The streetcars and omnibus have a back area for holding wheelchairs and strollers. For rides you can ask the CM for a round trip because of the disability but normally you have to get off and back in line to ride again. Streetcars and omnibus allow a couple of guests to ride up front. Watch the streetcar as people hop on even when the streetcar is going to the barn and guests will jump on as you are slowly boarding. Every guest for themselves on the streetcars. Other vehicles have only one entrance.
• Trams have two ways. First you stand in the front area and then toss the wheelchair onto the tram and hop on board. second is to go to the disabled loading area where you can roll onto the tram without walking.
• Sun Wheel is mainstreamed. Guests in wheelchairs may remain in their chair for the stationary line. Guests in ECVs drive through the ride vehicle and park on the other side. ECV and wheelchair guests may transfer to a seat on the vehicle if they wish. For the moving cars guests must transfer. Left line is not moving and right is the so right moving cars.
• King Triton's Carousel is mainstreamed. There is a ramp and guess may drive up the ramp and park in a bench seat area. Guests may also drive up to the carousel and transfer then park their mobility item.
• Grizzly River Rapids is mainstreamed and at a point near the end is a gate that opens away from the guest. There is a downhill part of the line next to the building. Take the path right and stop at the yellow line. They try to load the boat with disabled guests. Be warned that they will ask you if stairs is a problem if the ride was evacuated. Take your time loading.
• Streetcar and omnibus have an area in the back for folded wheelchairs and guests may drive up to the vehicle to transfer. It is supposed to be a one way trip but sometimes CMs make an exception.

I need my nap and to shop so this is a jumble but pretty much covers everything.
