Never been to Disneyland before. Go to Las Vegas every year in February. I got the 13th -19th for $35 at the Rio (basically paying for Valentine's Day). Map quested it out and it appears Disneyland is 5 hours away. Would it be worth it to make a trip to Disneyland, obviously we'd have to get a hotel in the area as I'm not driving back to Vegas that night.

Or should my first time to Disneyland be a trip all of its own, ie a few days?

It just seems I get so close but never make it all the way there.

I don't think it's possible to really see the parks in one day. If you just wanted to get a sense of what DLR is like, then that could probably be done in one-day, but you'll be missing out on so much. Also, with all of the preparation for the 60th anniversary underway right now, this isn't necessarily the best time to go for a "first trip". So personally, I would make my first trip to DLR be its own trip (three to five days).

Thanks. After talking with my partner he liked the idea but was afraid he'd want to see more of the state, some movie studios, and other stuff too

Guess I'll have to wait

okay so like is a side trip anything like a side salad?
