Disneyland Secrets

I was told by a CM that it was the time of Walt's death.
Found this on another discussion board....."When I was on the Walk in Walt's footsteps tour I was told it was set for the time when Sleeping Beauty pricked her finger and the kingdom fell asleep."

You can search yourself and find the clock in the tunnel through the castle set at various times.

What a great thread! I subscribed.

Does anyone know if the cats are still around? Most of the posts I read about them were in 2005

The cats are not just in the park, the are also all over the hotel grounds :rotfl2:

We were just there during christmas and stayed and the DLH many times while we were sitting at the outdoor fireplace or just walking around we saw at least 5 different cats. Now I am a cat lover, and just loved it. Matter of fact one night while sitting at the fireplace, my DS 15 was stalked by a really pretty light tan one with blue eyes. It just sat there, about 3 ft away from him, and watched him for a good 45 min. :rotfl2:

Did you know there are hundreds of tips and secrets in this thread alone?

So who is up to combining them into one post ? :)

That may be a problem, especially as some of the lure and legends are debunked.

However, some secret tips would be fitting.

From the DIS Unplugged 1st Anniversary Podcast Tips submitted by dissers.

1. Mortimer Mouse: As you enter the queue for the Mark Twain ask a CM to pilot the ship. 4 people can go in the wheel house. You can sounds the horn 4 times and sign the Captain's guest book. Children can be provided with a pilot's certificate.

2. Lamce: With kids, eat protien to keep going. You can eat turkey legs which the kids enjoy eating like cavemen. Also sign up for groupon orange county you may geta deal. Also if your kids like the Tiki Room use that attraction to take a cool break. If you like the old Tigger Tails, check online for the recipe.

3. Tinkcollector: Do not miss the Flag Retreat Ceremony at various times depending on sunset. The flag is respected and service people thanked for thier service. The Disneyland Band will play patriotic songs.

4. Dizme: You can get a flat rate taxi voucher from a Disney hotel to Orange County Airport. Ask at the guest services desk in any hotel, the flat rate is $32.

5. Stacy Lee: Get in line for the Storybook Land Canal Boats about 20-30 minutes before the fireworks start. About 5 minutes before they start the CM may let you know the boats will stop during the fireworks. You can watch from the boat.

6. Zarra Bear: Buy coffee at the Makethouse on Main Street. Save the reciept and you can get standard coffee refills all day. You don't need to keep the cup, just return with ther receipt. Take some time to sit on benches and take in the details. Near the Castle are many characters on the paths on the side of the Castle.

7. Pink Budgie: If you have teen that complain about thier picture being taken, make a photo scavenger hunts, with prizes. You win because the kids will enjoy being in photos without the eyerolling.

8. JeffnStacyin NYC: Don't overlook the Mint Julep Stand. On the side of the French Market. A unique to Disneyland drink. Also at Cafe Orleans.

9. Pixiewings71: Dole Whips, use the inside line, on the Tiki Room queue side. Much shorter line. See the show in the Tiki room while enjoying your Dole Whip, if you opt to.

10. Billyfan: Catch a Billy Hill and the Hillbilles Show. Grab a seat as the previous show lets out. Get a table up front, this may take an hour. Grab some food while you wait and relax. Great place for a break. There is counter service food inside the theater. This show is a bit interactive when you sit up front.

11. fairycat If you love Disney or have a question, talk to a Cast Member. Many have worked there a long time. You can get great answers, tips and information from these CMs.

12. Raftislander : If you are traveling with kids and don't get there until the afternoon, don't waste a day of admission if you don't want to. Stroll around DTD and eat at a charater meal in one of the hotels for dinner. It will start you vacation of right without being in the parks. If the kids are young go to bed early to make rope drop the next morning. If they are older try watching the fireworks from the Esplanade or hotel. A similiar vaction stretching tip can be done on the other end of a visit with a character breakfast.

13. Kpeterso: If the line at Gibson Girls has a long line, check the Cone Shop across the street in the alley behind the fruit stand they have sundaes too. It's not normally open all day. (Gibson Girls is in rehab until mid July 2012)

14. VowelMommy: There are temporary tattoos available that you can write a cell phone number on. You can get them on amazon and the brand is safetytat. You can place the tatoo in a discrete place.

15. Mousereed: The goofy water fountain in Toontown, turns different colors at night.

16. SpiroffNatasha: Ride the Disneyland Railroad first, for people new to DL, especially if from WDW. From the train you can see a lot of the park and see attractions you can hit later on.

Nice transcription....and in case you missed anything, they'll be in a blog tomorrow. :)

Opps #11 is mine  forgot to add my name.

Also to expand a smidge, especially chat or ask questions in Lincoln's lobby, with some of the 50th displays still up, cast members will try to answer any question you might have about the parks, and often will offer a tip, insight or information, that you might not otherwise have ever found. We have gotten a lot of unexpected Disney magic from just talking to some of the cast members.

#12 was already in my plans for our next trip in May. We will drive down to DL on a Monday but wont go to the parks until Tue, Wed, Thur. We plan to go to DTD on Monday after we get settled in our hotel. Last year we didnt take a single step in DTD as all of our time was in the two parks. We left and realized "hey, we never went to DTD". So this time we added that to our plans of things to do. I havent seen DTD since 05.

I don't know how much of a secret it is but my 4 yr old discovered the timing of the mist coming out of the rocket outside of Soarin. When I was using a fastpass on Soarin my wife and two girls were waiting outside next to the big red fire hydrant looking thing (kind of near Soarin's FastPass distribution). Overhead there is a rocket that periodically sprays mist out of its exhaust on those walking by. My 4 year old discovered that whenever the tube of bubbles on the fire hydrant turns red (it cycles through many colors) that the mist would spray on those under the rocket.

The next day it made for great comic relief as I was waiting outside of Soarin with our 2 yr old while our 4 yr old and wife road Soarin. I could tell when the bubbles started to turn red and would watch some passerby get unexpectedly sprayed. There were also some older kids that showed up and waited under the mister so they could get cooled off by the mist. Thanks to my 4 yr old, I felt so smart telling them that it wouldn't spray them until the bubbles on the fire hydrant thing turned red.

This thread needs a bump, and with the return of the search function I'm happy to do it.
