Disneyland Ride List By Popularity?

Popularity as in long lines? Because the two are not in the same. For example, Pirates of the Caribbean is EXTREMELY popular among DLR visitors. But due to it's very high rider capacity, the line is almost never longer than 30 min. It's when popularity is combined with low capacity rides that long lines develop. I'll make a rough list of rides with long lines (45-60+ min during peak seasons).

DL:
-Indy (FP)
-Space (FP)
-Splash (FP, especially during summer months)
-Nemo (not because of popularity, but because of slow loading)
-Peter Pan
-Dumbo
-Matterhorn
-Alice in Wonderland
-Haunted Mansion Holiday (not the regular version though, FP)
-Roger Rabbit's Cartoon Spin (FP)
-Pixie Hollow (not technically a ride, but has very long waits)
-Mickey's House (same as Pixie Hollow)
-Princess Fantasy Faire (same)

DCA:
-Soarin (FP)
-California Screamin (FP)
-Grizzly River Run (FP, mostly on warm days)
-Tower of Terror (FP)
-Toy Story Midway Mania

Some rides such as Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Buzz, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad are popular, but can load quicker and have shorter/faster moving lines.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I'm surprised that Toy Story Midway Mania doesn't have a Fastpass, if it's anything like as popular as the one at WDW, it must have really long lines.

There is a lot of debate on that one. The standby lines at DCA for TSMM do tend to be much shorter than at DHS. Some will say that the FP at DHS causes the standby to be much longer. In any case TSMM is one of the harder rides to do at DLR without a longish wait. It is hard to get on first thing in the morning without sacrificing other things. Fortunately it has the strange pattern that the line decreases throughout the day after a surge in the morning. :confused3

If you can handle the single rider line that is the way to go IMO.

Some have taken the lack of FP on TSMM to mean that DLR has decided to start scaling back on FP. For example, there are two major rides coming to DLR in the next few years. A "dark ride" called Voyage of the Little Mermaid in 2011, and then a Test Track type ride called Radiator Springs Racers. The rumor is that neither will have FP.

Along these lines, if you are inclined to delay your trip another year (or two) DCA will be seeing lots of new things. Disney is investing an unprecedented $1 billion to upgrade the entire park. For more info see http://micechat.com/forums/disneyla...california-adventure-project-tracker-vii.html

Thanks for all the info, much appreciated. :thumbsup2
I guess we will have to try our best to get on the TSMM, we went on it at park opening at DHS, then got a fastpass for later when we came out, so it worked out well, it seems that everyone headed straight for this ride at opening, that was back in April. Don't fancy the single rider line, prefer to ride with my DD, we have great fun so we will just have to queue! I really hope that FP doesn't start disappear as we do find it a great help with our visits to the parks.

We can't wait any later than next year, lol, I really need to get back to DLR, we had only 2 days when we visited in 2007 and it was just a blur, so can't wait to get back and stay for longer and do everything in the parks, and some things more than once, especially Indiana Jones! :woohoo: It's great though that they're putting more into DCA, I guess we will have to visit again when it's all finished! :rotfl2: Thanks for answering my question, you're full of great info! :worship:

Does anyone know of where I can find a list of all the rides in Disneyland listed by popularity with DL guests?

Depends on what you mean by "popularity."

It will vary based on who you ask if you mean "best." If you mean number of people who ride / day, Disney does not share those numbers. If you mean longest wait times, I don't think that is an indicator or popularity, but rather many other issues.

What are you trying to figure out exactly? Maybe we can help better if we knew. :)

Sorry! Let me try to clearify. When I say "popular" I mean the rides Disney goers enjoy the most due to scenery, ride, entertainment value and so on. Not too concerned with the length of lines as that could simply be because the ride takes longer from start to finish then the one next door! I am also not concerned with the thrill factor. Just mean which screams "you're at Disneyland"?

I loathe the Nemo subs although it "seems" popular with the queues

Now onto the ones I LOVE
Pirates of the Caribbean. It is the longest version and I think it is a true....you are at Disneyland and where Walt's dream started...ride.

Space Mountain is currently significantly better.
Matterhorn is a BIG pain in the backside (LITERALLY!!!) but it is a wonderful disneyland ride...
Alice in Wonderland is a favourite of mine....it is a wonderful...I'm in Disneyland ride.

Beyond that there are a few differences...but those are my favourites.
Great Moments with Mr Lincoln is currently being put back I believe so THAT will be very special.

Rides that scream you are at DL?

1. Indiana Jones
2. POTC
3. Matterhorn
4. Alice in Wonderland
5. StorybookLand Canal Boats
6. Finding Nemo Sub Voyage

If you ask about DLR in total I would add from DCA

7. California Screamin (no pun intended ;))
8. Soarin Over CA - same ride as Epcot but the theming in Condor Flats is better - plus it is an original DCA ride before being imported to Epcot.

I would add:

everything in Fantasyland, especially It's A Small World

BTMRR (at night)

Matterhorn (at night)

Jungle Cruise

Enchanted Tiki Room

The DL Railroad

Any of the Main Street transportation

Snow White Grotto

Mark Twain Riverboat / Sailing Ship Columbia

Lunch or Dinner at the Blue Bayou

Fantasmic

In DCA: Turtle Talk w/ Crush (in the Animation Bldg)

:earsboy:

How are the lines at its a small world??

I recall someone saying it was going to be closing for another refurb in october, but on DL website I do not see it.

Thanks

IASW doesn't have very long lines usually, especially because it has a high capacity. It's a Small World Holiday can have slightly longer lines, but nothing really to worry about.

It should be closing in late October to change the normal version to the holiday version. It happens every year.
