Disneyland Resort and Theme Parks to Close as Coronavirus Spreads

Ugh. I'm trying to cancel a VGC reservation and the website is crashing. I have a reservation for next week and I'm wonder if they're going to put those points into holding. I'm probably going to go ahead and cancel my April reservation for Moonlight Magic as well. Ugh! And....I'm supposed to go on a Disney Cruise end of next month (taking my sister and my mom, who's 80), so that's not going to happen either!

I have a reservation for 4/28 for MM at MK. I’m going to give it until the 27th when I have to cancel to make my decision. I doubt we’ll be able to go though. I think the parks will still be shut down, but who knows. I will say I think there’s a better chance now that they’ve announced the closure of DL (and I’m sure WDW will follow with a similar announcement imminently) that the parks may be open by the end of April.

That's not a bad strategy. I'm not really nervous about getting the virus, but the potential for quarantine and not working for 2-4 weeks would be a financial disaster. Not worth the risk for me :(

My trip is March 29th to April 2nd, I have a feeling WDW will still be closed and this trip will need to be moved until July.

But, I am doing nothing until last minute cause I’m in denial and don’t want to not go! Lol

Offical Disneyland and Disneyland Resort announcement about closing until the end of March. You would think Disneyworld will follow suit very soon.

Our trip is April 1-8 and we have been so looking forward to it. I'm not doing anything until the last minute -- we're within 30 days of check-in anyway, so cancelling today or March 30 won't matter at all. My issue is that I borrowed points from next year for this trip, so I'm hoping they'll allow me to put them back into their original use year. Still staying positive and keeping my fingers crossed!!!

Me too. My points are borrowed too but I can go anytime in July or August again, so as long as they remove holding, I am fortunate to rebook. Of course, I also May and June trips booked too!

Our trip is April 18th. I hope if Disney closes, it'll reopen by then! Like everyone else, I really need this vacation and escape from the world!

I agree w bwvBound that Gov Newsome probably had a lot of input in the DL closure. WDW, though, is so much larger of an operation, not sure anyone wants to shoulder the responsibility of that decision. Isn't Disney the largest employer in the state? Lots of sympathy for all the folks impacted by this, employees and travelers. I'm booked for 4/27-5/1, but no big deal. If I didn't have points in holding, I'd think there was something wrong w my account. 🙂

So ... anyone taking odds on getting time back on our APs that are sitting idle during the shutdown ... ?
(I'm not really worried about the APs ... just idle curiosity.)

I was thinking about that. I have a trip 4/19-25, my AP expires 4/29. i didn’t plan to buy another one until my November Trip. If they are closed in April but I could reschedule for May, wonder if they would extend to cover it.

At the Asian resorts they extended the APs for an equal time the resort was closed. It should be noted WDW is now closed (dining and resorts to remain open).

Thank you for the info regarding AP handling in Asia! Wow, regarding WDW.

Hoping your original trip holds as planned!
