Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

I've missed the last seven pages. I apologize. But anyone with a modicum of experience with Photoshop can EASILY forge the vaccine certificate. There are many different versions, there's no official seal (like a hologram or something), and the fact that they're recommending that people laminate their cards when they're done removes any way of seeing the actual paper. "Proof" of vaccination isn't proof.

Maybe they’ll simply ask you to attest to the fact that you’ve been vaccinated and do it by the honor system.

Fully agree. I couldn't imagine wanting to be in the business of "checking" vaccine cards at the entry to a theme park. For that matter, I'm very curious as to how Disneyland will check IDs for in-state residency. Maybe they'll just let the attestation at purchase suffice.

I will be curious to see this as well. It’s in thing for guest services to check a portion of IDs when people get some kind of in-state AP. Checking every single person as they enter would be very cumbersome IMO. We’ll all know for sure with regards to CA residents next week!

I still think they won’t have any enforcement. At best it would be random ID checks the first two weeks which would be enough to deter most out of staters until June 15

You obviously don't know about the checks Disneyland did at the gate for the So Cal tickets and military tickets and other location / special entry tickets.

Also for all the single day and multi day tickets the CM would take the photo of every person.

Disneyland gate CM's are very used to doing checks for every person.

Sure but I think Disney would want to limit the amount of time that cast members have to interact with guests. Especially in areas where there are long lines to get in.

In the age of the internet and social media I don't think Disney would risk it getting out that they're not checking or only spot checking to verify CA residency. Also we should avoid speculating/discussing that they won't check as that would encourage out of state visitors to book which is against Disney's current rules and therefore a violation of TOS of DISboard.

Well besides this being titled the Speculation Superthread. It's literally what this thread is for.
The only person who needs to ask that question is someone who might have trouble showing proof of California residency. Gaugersaurus' answer is a better explanation of why I said that.

If it matters - entry for ToD took a substantially long time even without the residency check (ie, scanning the dining card), longer than a residency check would take.

Disneyland has proven time and time again that they DO NOT CARE how long people have to wait to get into their parks. They DO NOT CARE how long the lines get. They go out of their way to set up rope or temporary fencing to create extended queues.

Did those of you claiming Disney won't check IDs even go to DtD on any given weekend day over the last 6 months? They created an extended line in the old GCH hotel parking lot and the wait to get in has at times reached 3+ HOURS. They made people stand 6 feet apart but they DID NOT CARE how long that line got. They even brought in porta potties. They paused parking entry at times to manage traffic, and they will do the same thing at the parking structure once the parks open if the backup at the gates gets to be too much.

But once again, they DO NOT CARE how long you wait to get in. They are going to do their due diligence in checking IDs. Their statement yesterday all but makes that even more clear now.

No one is saying Disney cares about line time. We are saying that Disney wants to reduce interaction time with cast members. No way do they check every single person's ID every day.

There is no more interaction time than there will be by them having to scan your QR code and ticket barcode anyway. People will simply be asked to hold up their IDs at the same time so they can glance at them. This is also why they are not accepting any documents like utility bills or lease agreements. They want to see a government issued ID with a CA address on it, period. This is no different than when they used to look at the military ID in the past with salute tickets. That required zero additional "interaction time."

And they won't be checking every single person. Just adults need to show an ID. At Disneyland, that's like 60% of guests, maximum.

You put to much faith in people to think that every single person will have their ID ready to go. Every time I fly at least half of the people have to dig through their purse or wallet to get their ID out at the TSA agent stand.

Not to mention Canadian tickets, Aussie tickets, SoCal tickets, etc. The extra amount of time it takes to check an ID plus tickets plus reservations will not be any more time than it took to check people in for TOD. They did not try to limit exposure time and speed up the process for TOD, they certainly won’t for park admission. Plus, with the entry booths located outside and both CMs and guests wearing masks and separated by plexiglass, the risk of exposure is already minimal.

Okay. I'm sure Disney has a plan for that. And again, back to point, they don't care if it holds people up.

Just saying from experience going WDW recently. Number goal is to reduce cast member interaction with guests. They do care about that.

WDW does not have the restrictions that Disneyland has, though. You can't compare them. There also weren't 3+ hour long lines to get into Disney Springs at any given time. Disneyland Resort has had to contend with all sorts of state restrictions that WDW never did.

Is FOMO that bad that people want to encourage/empower guests to break Disney's CA only restriction just to go a few weeks early? The state's target date of June 15th "reopening" seems more likely everyday. I think capacity limits will stay for some time but I don't see Disney keeping the CA only restriction once the state gives "all clear" on reopening.
