Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

Just to remind folks, just because the state has okayed it doesn't mean Disney will make the change. I'm sure they'll weigh the logistics of having to check for vaccinations for a couple more weeks of out of state tourist money. Plus this seems to only apply to those able to be fully vaccinated so it still leaves out families with kids under 16. If I was a Disneyland exec this sounds like more trouble than it's worth for 6 weeks of speculative "more" ticket sales.

If the June 15th day holds according to the CDPH the blueprint for a safer economy will go away while keeping "common sense safety measures like masks & social distancing". Which means we no longer need to worry about hard capacity limits set by the state and it will be up to Disney to open to what capacity makes sense with social distancing.

Well, we don’t have a DL trip planned until the fall. As long as they lift the out-of-state restriction by this summer AND allow my kids to go, we’ll go. We’re vaccinated, so that isn’t an issue. We own VGC DVC points and have to bank them by July if we aren’t going to use them. I need to know by July 31st. 😬

With Disney having just released a statement, I hope they don't back peddle. It's just a lot of work on their end. Maybe including this new guidance starting June? Giving them time to adjust? I feel so bad for the employees who have to keep adjusting their processes.

Honestly, I think Disney will keep their “Californians only” stance until the state lifts that restriction. I can pictures families showing up to the park with two vaccinated parents and unvaccinated children, only to be turned away. It just sounds like a nightmare for Disney CMs to deal with.

AND to be one of the first businesses to ask for vaccine proof? There's a lot of wild political turmoil going on with the idea of "vaccine passports"- it could become a PR nightmare. I would wait too, if I were them.

I think the news just makes me irrationally happy because it's just some type of easing up for out of state folks, even if it's small. Breadcrumbs and all that haha.

I still want to know if this applies to kids as well or if they are exempt from this because there isn’t currently an approved vaccine for kids. It seems like that’s the new million dollar question.

Truthfully nothing new, but direct confirmation from Disney. This is from about 3:30 PST. 🤷‍♀️

In other words, Disney must consult with their lawyer team and then proceed to continue to bang their head on the wall. 😅

If anything I think this means positive vibes towards that infamous June 15th date. If they're loosening their grip (even slightly) before that date then it can't hurt our prospects for better possibilities later.

But what about kids...?! That's what I'm dying to know.
It says theme parks will be allowed to follow the same path as sports arenas and entertainment. And those are required a vaccination record or a negative test for everyone 12 and over.
Omg right? Sell us California tickets and then change the requirements. Can you imagine the mess.
That was exactly the issue ball parks had. Those that had tickets were allowed to get their tickets refunded or provide a test or vaccine record.

If it is like the sports areas/entertainment, as was mentioned above, then all those 12 and older are required to show proof.

Of course Disney is going to say nothing has changed ! The cast members that any of us are going to chat with have no authority to say anything different !
Well we either take it that he’s in the know or not. But everybody believed him about the CDPH confirmation, even though that’s not official either.

Btw, reading through the In Park Magazine Twitter thread, their source at CDPH refuses to be named.

UPDATE: confirmation from CDPH says yes to out of state vaccinated guests to themeparks! Source: Scott gustin's twitter
ETA: and Carlye Wisel citing with an article from Inpark Magazine
Does anyone have a link for the CDPH actual statement? I could put a tweet out saying CDPH is allowing theme parks to go to 50% capacity now, but doesn't mean it is true. I just want to see CDPH statement. The sports arenas opened up with vaccines, but CA residents have to do it too, so is SW requiring everyone? Or just out of state? And are they making sure people understand it isn't just adults?

Argh! If Disney hadn’t spoken up I’d have bought my Memorial Day tickets as a betting woman. But..... now I’m waiting. Again. 😭 The whole wait till June 15th is fine.... unless you’ve had a reservation at VGC for 11 months! Honestly we are/were ok with our resort/beach plan. But we keep getting sucked back in with a little bit of hope!

Quote from the OC Register article linked above:

"Until further notice, only California residents are allowed to visit Disneyland and Disney California Adventure theme parks, according to Disney officials.

“While visitation to our theme park is currently available to California residents only, we are assessing next steps to implement changes to previously released guidance and will share updated information when it becomes available,” according to a Universal Studios Hollywood spokesperson."

It doesn’t exist. It’s all in this response that In Parks Magazine got which has been retweeted and picked up. And in this thread they say their source refuses to be named and that’s the way it’s always been. They’re just told use “CDPH spokesperson”

Oc Register picked it up too in the article- I know some folks on here don't like them- but they usually won't pick up too many unconfirmed rumors like the bloggers post out. 🤷‍♀️

ETA: Sounds like Universal is going to go for it from their statement.

That is just it, when I asked my CDPH rep, they told me to read the Industrial Guidance for Theme Park and Amusement parks, not to go by the little chart that is just a reference card. NOTHING in there says OK if you are vaccinated. I am surprised that the CDPH and Cal Osha would update the Industrial Guidances for Live Events, Sports Arenas, Cultural Events, Conventions to include this, yet would not update Theme Parks and Amusement Parks.

I've missed the last seven pages. I apologize. But anyone with a modicum of experience with Photoshop can EASILY forge the vaccine certificate. There are many different versions, there's no official seal (like a hologram or something), and the fact that they're recommending that people laminate their cards when they're done removes any way of seeing the actual paper. "Proof" of vaccination isn't proof.
