Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

I bet a lot of people are thinking the same thing, I hope that the calendar really doesn't stay filled up once they open to give them incentive to get everything else open... If it fills up for 60 days quickly then what's the incentive to open up more if people are willing to pay for less?
Overwhelmingly, it seems to me that most people have no idea that all that stuff is closed. Even people in the “Disney Insta” circle haven’t really paid attention - a friend of mine POSTED screenshots of what’s opened/closed in her stories, but then when I brought up a few things, she didn’t even know what I was talking about because she hadn’t really read them. 😆🤷‍♀️

I think whatever they initially offer will sell out, no question. I know SO MANY PEOPLE planning on buying tickets on the 15th, including a bunch of people I would not at all have expected to even be interested...

The question will be if that keeps up. It’s like Touch of Disney - that initial furor was intense, and they probably could have sold a few more weeks right then if they’d wanted to. But after awhile, potentially the enthusiasm will wane if the product isn’t great.

Of course, they have a finished Avengers Campus in their back pocket...

Tbh, if I lived there I'd be like let's goooo haha. Coming from further away makes me rethink my money + value equation.

Even if a lot of restaurants were still closed when it comes time for us to come in Nov. I probably wouldn't hesitate. But I really really hope they open more quickly. That 'closed' list is pretty intense.

Does anyone know if we can hold 2 trips at the same time? I am hoping to go when they open for 1 day with my daughter, and then again at the end of June for 5 days as a family. I'd like to book both trips at the same time, but the June trip will take priority if I have to choose.

I think you will be able to hold as many reservations as you have tickets for.

I'm staying positive that the amount of people that can make reservations on then12th aren't enough to fill up the available spots. So come the 15th they are plenty of spots open.
Not going to lie, I've had a similar thought myself. Prefacing this with I think cancelling AP holders and not giving them any priority to buy tickets is messed up. Same with current DVC holders.

That said, I'm feeling like my chances might be ok on the 12th. I'm only competing with in state residents who already hold tickets. And I'm not trying to go opening day or even that first month. So comparatively, that has to be a fairly "small" group. I am just trying to hype myself up because I'm so anxious about it, lol.

Me too! I am, unfortunately, aiming for the first two days. I figured why not try. But honestly, I refuse to stress and freak out on Monday, so I'll take what's available.

Man, now I'm not so sure we want to wait if Avengers Campus is opening! My son is so stoked for this.

Do I cancel WDW and plan for late summer on the bread crumbs of hope that out of state folks can come after 6/15 like everyone's assuming? I'm so torn! You're killing me, Disney. I wonder if by then they'd have more dining opened up too?

Nah, stay on the WDW now, DLR later train with me 😉

I do think we're likely to see it open up to out of state this summer. I also think it will still be reduced capacity and maybe hard to get reservations. It's been closed a year AND it's summer - double whammy.

I'm placing my bets on that June 15th date as long as vaccinations continue as planned. I was reading Newsom's statement on it again and seems pretty confident that'a when the tier system will go.

We were originally supposed to be at DL for the Avengera Campus opening week before the world stopped so my son is like beside myself he wants to see it so bad. 😬

Food for thought. Summer in Florida is VERY HOT and HUMID. Not sure if that would play into your decision.

Oh, that's a huge driving factor in the decision. 😅 I've been stressing about that heat there! Much better to visit in the winter... and then the 50th anniversary is in full swing too.

I booked a hotel for late July for Anaheim but gonna keep our WDW option open too. I have until end of May to decide... hopefully by then we'll have a clear idea if June 15th is a for sure go for out of staters!

Well in that case, join us in January! :rotfl:

I do think this summer at DLR will be hoppin' - everyone will be so excited to be back, Avengers will be open, capacity will (likely) be going up. I'm a bit jealous we won't be able to go this year!

Does anyone remember how long it took for the first weekend of WDW reopening took to get full? What about TOD? If there is a thread where this was discussed, could someone kindly point me to it? I would really appreciate it!!

TOD sold out of all original dates, and 10 added days in 8 hours.

Oh wow!!! I always hear the demand is high but that's something else.

The site also crashed a few times in the hours before they went on sale because people (including myself) were checking every hour on the hour starting at midnight since they didn't give us a start time.

I'm guessing that's a big reason they've said reservations and tickets won't be available prior to 8am. Doesn't give an exact time, but keeps them from having to watch for too much traffic starting hours too early. I'm just glad to know I'll be able to sleep instead of feeling the need to pull an all nighter again :rotfl:

I didn't know that! That's insane! But why do I get the feeling that people will still be on the site at least an hour before refreshing just in case it goes live right at 8? (Me. I will be one of those people)

Because we'll all be those people :rotfl:

Better than doing it for nine hours before at least 😬? There is the theory that since only Cali residents this time it shouldn't be as bad, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm expecting the 15th to be chaos. That way if it isn't, I'll be pleasantly surprised lol!

I wonder if they'll use Queue It at all again. It's not perfect, but I like that it gives us the option to give our place in line to someone else if we can't use it (also to keep our place if we have to switch devices). I did that for several people during ToD ticket sales as did many others.

I can't even try until the 15th since no tickets, but I'll probably get up early on the 12th anyways to watch the drama unfold live without the pressure of being a participant.
