Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

Got excited and hopeful to see the new DL app update today... 😃 Until scrolling down a bit and coming across the MDE one as well... 😒

Blog Mickey says the unions are pushing for Orange. IMHO Orange it will be.

Not that it helps DLR. OC can’t even hit orange right now. I don’t think they have a prayer between Halloween-Thanksgiving-Xmas... so DLR open Mar is my latest opinion(if orange is required).

I was thinking this too. That’s a whole other hurdle to jump. And they’ve gotten to be given the ability to not be forced to close again if the country deviates back to red.

Poor Universal... they’re still in purple aren’t they?

Yes universal and magic mountain are in the dreaded LA county which is probably permanently grounded in purple lol. Maybe they have their own unions working on something? I’m assuming counties will have to ultimately give the last approval even if the state says yes. We already know where Orange County stands, and I’m sure SD will let their parks open (Legoland and Sea World).

I think it is going to be Orange. I think the difference between the big and smaller theme parks will be capacity. Smaller theme parks/amusement parks (such as Pixie Woods, Happy Hollow, Pixieland) won't be able to open at just 25%. It wouldn't be cost effective. I think they will get a higher capacity limit. I have some hope as Newsom had been negative about nail salons, then Ghaly said "They can open!"

So going off what WDW used. If you are only allowing 25% in, and onsite hotels are first. That means AP's and Ticket holders would be next. It's going to be super limited.. Not sure how many outside the park hotels will survive it.

If we go off of what FreshBaked was saying.... They may not open the park till yellow, which is his thinking. Were talking half a year or more. I doubt any non-chain hotels survive that.

I think the most important thing going on for any outside hotels are these guidelines. This if going to basically tell these hotels what chances they have. If the park doesn't open, then we will see hotel closures. If it's reduced you can bet hotels are going to figure out ways to make it work. Bigger discounts for AP's, things like that.

If Disney needed to wait until yellow, I have a feeling we would have heard some complaints (leaks) yesterday. Politics can be weird. Anything can happen. For all we know they will give them an exemption to open earlier saying this will "help the community get back on their feet" making them look like the dogooders. I don't know. Just guessing and grasping at straws. Well see what happens later today.

Everyone keeps talking about orange like it’s positive ..... isn’t orange extremely difficult to reach? Is OC even close to moving to the orange level?

From their headline it looks like their speculating just like all of us are. :) Nobody will know for absolutely sure until we get those guidelines. My thought is we probably would have heard some "noise" from Disney if they are going to be expected to stay closed for another extended amount of time. If they were told to wait until next year to open, I think that lawsuit thing would be filed tomorrow.

Orange is the next color. So if the numbers go down some and stay down in OC they may be able to get there next month

So today they will still be red. Which means They won't assess it again for 2 weeks. Which means they will most likely be red again. The numbers are still at a 4.6

I do expect Ghaly to talk about Orange County numbers today, so we should here a specific update.

I was just under the impression that it was going to be extremely difficult for most counties to get out of red and actually qualify for orange. That’s what I meant!
Gotcha! Yeah it seems the larger counties in SoCal are having trouble getting to Orange. But the counties in the Bay Area have made it to orange. Idk if they have theme parks in those counties up there
