Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

So I am at work and couldn't go back enough to find anything--is there a reason we think there was supposed to be an announcement today? I am going to be so mad if I cancelled my late Sept. trip and they open up. LOL!

I can't think of any reason to expect to hear an announcement today. It doesn't appear that we are getting a noon news conference from the governor today, either.

They haven't been rising for a while.

If you plan to stay onsite and don't have an AP or FL residency you'll need the cheap flights to make up for no hotel discounts (at least right now).

We would book a pkg, then watch for DVC confirmed reservation discounts. Some are selling for as low as $9 a point!

Movement on Mickey's Fun Wheel spotted today too! Credit @AnaheimPark. Nice catch guys :)
Thank you for the shout out! And thanks to @azdisneylover for posting about the horses because I don't think we would have caught the Pixar Pal around movement about 20 minutes after that. I was SO incredibly happy to see some movement in the parks today!! :goodvibes

The last round of cancellations went through 9/12. Nothing since then.

My DVC reservation from 9/17-9/18 was cancelled online. It is no longer on my DVC dashboard and shows cancelled when I check the points. And I was not the one who cancelled it. I have no idea why I am the only one whose reservation cancelled for the week unless I was the only one with a reservation that week on this board.

I read through our new 4 tier plan and didn't see much mention of Theme parks at all. What confuses is me is why other outdoor places with rides are allowed to operate. I went to the Oakland Zoo, and their skyliner is running. There is also a pumpkin patch nearby that has a train running and a bouncy house. I guess a bouncy house is not a ride but it is high touch. If they allowed Disneyland to open only outdoor rides and outdoor dining, that is still a lot of rides, and they have a lot of outdoor seating.

Regarding Oakland Zoo and the gondolas: it really isn't entirely a ride. It falls under transportation as it's the only way to get to the California section of the park. At least the day I went they were cleaning between every party by only filling every other gondola and cleaning the ones that weren't being filled at each end. I don't think you can compare that to a ride at Disneyland (even an outdoor one). It would be more similar to the tram from the parking garage if anything.

You weren’t the only one on this Board with a res. But you were at the top of Disney’s cancel list. We don’t know why.

They need to make the announcement then 😢

Did you reschedule or did you call it quits?
They caught me off guard, so I told them I would call back. I am at work, DH is at home and we needed to talk about it first.

Thinking of moving to beginning of October...but hoping some kind of announcement this week. The CM did confirm that our rate would only be honored until 9/30 (we were originally booked at the DLH, then moved to GCH). We are totally ok with moving back to the DLH, but I would prefer to keep the rate I had originally in June-before the cheaper rate kicked in. I doubt they would do that...

I believe there's another plan for theme parks, which will be announced "soon."
A plan being announced soon does not mean the parks will open soon.
Let’s look at it this way. If the assumption that Theme Parks might not be allowed at all until Orange and it could very likely be Yellow it is 6 - 9 weeks AT MINIMUM until OC would be able to open Theme Parks. And that is if OC continues its dramatic downward trend of positive tests. I know a lot of you are just ignoring my realistic (not pixie dusted) view point but there it is anyway.

"Soon" just does not work very well anymore. Calendar year end is getting closer and closer, some of us have vacation hours we will lose at end of year. Kept our November dates hoping Disneyland would be open and now there is no open weeks for me to switch to on the work calendar through end of year. Oregon is much closer to Disneyland we do not have to schedule 2 entire days just for flights like we need for Disney World. With the airlines having to deal with the pandemic there are limited direct flights from PDX to MCO currently.

Currently looking for a great deal for Disney World.

We are VERY tempted to try that as well....but we have never been to WDW and that is what is scaring me a bit (planning an official WDW trip for 2022)! We even looked into flights and saw what you are talking about-not a whole lot for the times we are wanting to try. Super frustrating!
