Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

...
I feel the same way. I will only eat at outdoor dining. Even then, I ate at Islands last weekend and we couldn't social distance when we were leaving. They seated a larger party next to the patio exit and there was no way to avoid coming within a foot of them. I decided that I won't go back.
If you feel up to it, let the restaurant know about this and why you won't be back. Everyone's playing this whole reopening thing by ear right now and not always getting things right. The restaurant management might not even have thought that something like that would make guests feel uncomfortable, so a helpful comment might be timely.

Help me out with this one: Do you watch them prepare the food with the onion volcano and the shrimp flipping, and they put it all in a box? Or do you just pick up the food?

Nope, we miss out on the "show" at Benihana when we order take out. We just order it and go and pick it up. They have it all boxed up and organized for us. It is an anniversary tradition for my parents, so we will make it work. Trust me, we would much prefer to enjoy it with the show in the restaurant, but that is not possible right now. I have heard that in the restaurants that did open that the chef was cooking at the table behind you which also takes away from the experience.

Looks like Newsom is closing some things down for three weeks, which could potentially expire around 07/22 if it started yesterday.
Anybody else holding on to the smallest bit of hope that he comes out on July 6th and gives theme parks the approval to open when those three weeks are done, given that they follow the rules of no indoor seating, masks required, social distance, etc.?

Like I said - smallest glimmer of hope, knowing full well that I will have to reschedule our trip for the end of this month. 😭

But this isn't only an issue of calendar days. There is also the more important issue of what happens to the numbers statewide and county-specific-wide during those 3 weeks. So much has to improve before it could really be safe to think about moving in that direction. This is such a difficult time for everyone. Just hoping we can all pull together and follow the guidelines so that things can move forward again.

I mean, I hate to be the wet blanket in the room, but I would give this a 0 percent chance of likelihood. It’s far more likely that at the end of the three weeks, Newsom will begin allowing some of the things that were re-closed to re-open, but probably not all of them and probably not how he did it before, which was basically to turn it over to the counties as a free-for-all. Then see how that goes for another three weeks. Then allow a bit more to open. Then see how that goes for another three weeks. Rinse and repeat. At least if he doesn’t want a repeat of what they’re going through now. I’ll be shocked if theme parks get clearance to open before September, and won’t be surprised at all if they don’t even get it then. But, I could definitely be wrong. I hope conditions improve more quickly than is predicted and people understand better the need to follow the rules so that we can go back to doing more of the things we love.

I’m budgeting like I normally do when I’m close to a trip (my plan was end of September) but also being realistic with myself it’s not going to happen. Either way it’ll be paid off and ready to hit the go button when it’s safe to do so.

I’m concerned with the second wave we’re said to get in the Fall (experts say what we’re seeing now isn’t a second wave, it’s still the first one) so it’s hard to say if a trip this year will be in the books for my family. I definitely won’t want to fly if we’re in the midst of a second wave (how could it get any worse right? I shouldn’t say that outloud 😭😅) but if DL can’t open before then because CA cases are too high... I don’t know. All the unknowns are giving me ALL the anxiety.

I’m still shocked that WDW is opening this month with Florida’s high case amounts. Be interesting to see what happens.
They had 10,000 cases today :sad1: The governor said he doesn't want to lock things down again. I think the only way for WDW to not reopen is if Disney themselves pull the plug or outside influences prevent people from coming in (i.e. airlines refusing to fly into Florida). If they do end of reopening I hope everyone follows the rules so everyone is as safe as possible.

It’s truly terrifying. I personally hope WDW does not open. It’s not worth it, it’s really not.

I am hoping WDW does not open too. I was kind of relieved when DL announced it would not be re-opening yet. It takes away the temptation of wanting to go. Heart wants to go, brain say nope - bad idea. We are supposed to go to WDW in September and while I have not canceled my trip yet, I have already made the decision to cancel. I will do it within the next 2 weeks so then I can bank my DVC points and try to figure out something to do with the banked ones that will expire 11/30 (about 25-30).

WDW doesn’t release numbers but park reservations are still available to Resort Guests, regular ticket holders, and APs. Only for a few days have APs filled all the AP allotment for a specific day. It does look like guests are staying away.

All divisions of WDW CMs have reported back to work as of Sunday. It’s scary to know they’ve returned while the numbers are so bad, especially today.

I’ve had a running conversation spanning 4 years with a DISer from the WDW-side of the boards. We name each monthly conversation to segment the messages. This month’s title: “Disney’s ‘The Spread’ ~ Coming July 11” It isn’t meant to be humorous - it’s alarming.

I pray for everyone's safety 😞

I'm not sure we can accurately say that. Ticket sales and 2020 vacation packages are still frozen. So even if people wanted to go they couldn't book a new vacation or buy tickets for this year. This may be why so many days are still available. As for the AP's - it is July in Florida - many know better than to leave the house lol. Florida and other states are also issuing quarantine rules that would prevent people from coming even if they have tickets. That being said Universal Orlando has yet to reach capacity so honestly who knows.

We were too. If they were open, we would have been tempted to go so the rational side of me said I'm glad the temptation was removed. Irrational side of me is impatient.

It’s July and August where APs have filled days. In few I meant in relation to having reservations through Sept ‘21. WDW guests book resort stays a year in advance and would book Dining 6 months in advance.

With all December dates still open for all categories, Disney still hasn’t opened up resort and ticket sales. 9 days until 2 parks open with reservations still available.

DL must still be working on linking Resorts and tickets to My Disneyland before they open up ticket sales and possibly resort reservations.

also to put into context the availability at WDW, huge numbers of UK and Irish are having their vacation packages cancelled by travel agents for July and August and some are cancelling right through until the end of the year. This also affects people who have booked flights only with the travel agents, as they charter planes. Airlines are also also cancelling flights to MCO, which affects people who booked direct with airlines such as British Airways and Virgin Atlantic.

if people could/would follow the rules we wouldn’t be in the mess we are right now. I have very little hope of anything opening back up and fully expect further closures.
