Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

I miss some of the DtD food restaurants and it would be nice if they could just do take-out but I don't see that being a good reason to open since i don't think they could enforce people leaving after they pick up their food.

I haven't been to a restaurant since before the pandemic started, I try to make my own food at home but if I really want to go to a restaurant I just do take out or delivery or drive thru. I don't know if I'll feel comfortable dining in restaurants anytime soon.

I honestly thought I would be totally fine with eating in a restaurant. I've been pretty relaxed about things in general. I wear my mask, I sanitize my hands, we have done takeout every week for months, etc, but I don't go overboard like sanitizing my groceries or takeout food. I think I am just SO used to wearing a mask, and seeing EVERYONE wear them everywhere I go, it did not feel right being unmasked in a room full of other unmasked people. I'm out at this point, even if we hadn't been ordered to shut restaurants down. We will stick to takeout.

I got Din Tai Fung a few weeks ago and brought my own table/chairs and set-up/ate in an empty parking garage.

It was fantastic.

What a clever idea! We live a 10 minute drive away...we can wait until we get home, LOL!

Plot twist! Orange County apparently decided not to order the closure of indoor dning rooms and will allow bars that serve food to remain open.

That is not, at all, in the spirit of what the Governor ordered...

Edit: Nevermind. Maybe though? OC health just shared the Governors orders on their FB page. But their post an hour ago contradicts it. Not sure whether they had decided to close bars without food service prior to the Governor's order and will be amending their post.

We haven’t gone out to eat since March and only had begun take-out/delivery in May. Groceries are via Instacart and Amazon Fresh.

This article and the fact our SIL teaches physics are the main reasons why we are fine not dining in at restaurants:

Luckily our table was against a wall and a good 10+ feet from other tables. We were in a somewhat open air dining room as well, so ventilation systems were not really an issue. This time. Not all restaurants are like that.

I can see certain parts of orange putting up a fight over this, we will see. I mean it’s not like restaurants can’t do take out still. I feel like bars shouldn’t have ever been open.
I know we won’t get any updates on Disneyland but with these setbacks I speculate it won’t open until after summer break ends.

Did you really eat in a parking garage?!

It's disappointing, but I support this move by Newsom and hope that it helps slow the spread in California, though it will be many weeks before we know. I would not eat in at any restaurant, and we were not planning to do so at DL before everything blew up again. The only place we've eaten is a brewpub with a very large outdoor patio, where we were probably 15 feet away from the nearest patron. I don't know when the next time I will step inside a movie theater. Just thinking about it gives me anxiety.

Newsom is saying they will cut funding to counties who don't comply with the mandate. I see OC yelling and screaming but eventually agreeing to it. And definitely DTD will listen to them to avoid reprisals.

I didn't catch his update live, but did he mention how enforcement is going to work with the masks and beaches? I know parking lots are closed at the beach, but people usually park elsewhere, then walk to the beach...

No mention of mask enforcement at all. He mentioned personal responsibility, mostly. So, honor system.

I kind of agree. But then again, the places we want to visit most are stores and Earl of sandwich and Napolini, so...

My husband and I went out to eat last Saturday and even at reduced capacity, I felt uneasy. We made a reservation at Din Tai Fung for lunch Friday, but about 2 hours ago, I talked to my husband and told him I was gonna cancel it and we could get it take out instead. Now, looks like we won't have a choice. While I get that being in a restaurant eating means you can't wear a mask the whole time, being in a room with lots of people talking and laughing loudly, unmasked, made me super uneasy. We did it because it was a special anniversary, but I'm now finding myself mentally counting days until I get to 14 again, and I don't like that.

I know the feeling about not being totally comfortable in restaurants yet. We went to Ruby's in Newport Beach a couple weeks ago and it felt like they were seating people way too close together. My Dad is still talking about it. Definitely not comfortable. I have eaten at Corner Bakery by me twice (or maybe 3 times) and that has been ok overall. My parents anniversary is Friday (51 years), and normally we always got out to Benihana (since they went to one in Chicago on their first date) with our cousins (my Dad's best man and his wife and then another couple they are close to). This year - we will be getting Benihana on the 3rd or 4th and bringing it home (did it for Mother's Day too) to eat.

Yup! Every now and then, someone would drive by and the look on their face seeing a table and chairs with food was priceless. I was quite proud.

To be fair, it's a nice parking garage and it's adjacent to the restaurant's closest mall entrance.

Haha... you're probably referring to South Coast, but this was up in Santa Clara (Valley Fair).

Well, I hope there isn’t too much struggle with county compliance on this and things can get under control. It’s sad to say but if there’s no enforcement for masks, the honor system doesn’t seem to do much.

I got the Disney Dogs print in the smaller crossbody and the Disney sketch (black trim) crossbody. They need to end this darn sale though because now I'm back on here eyeballing that Minnie parks print haha! The Ink and Paint sold out waaaay too fast, it was gone before I could get it in my cart.
I was thinking about the Disney Dogs one. I need to pull out a measuring tape because I already have many very small ones and don't need another tiny bag - no matter how cute it is. I am also looking at the Americana print, but need to measure for that, too. I tend to love the look/weight of the little bags and then with I had a bigger one because I can't carry everything that I want to carry.
You should check out Harvey's seatbelt bags. They make Disney designs too!
Uh oh. You may have just turned me on to another addiction.

I feel the same way. I will only eat at outdoor dining. Even then, I ate at Islands last weekend and we couldn't social distance when we were leaving. They seated a larger party next to the patio exit and there was no way to avoid coming within a foot of them. I decided that I won't go back.

Help me out with this one: Do you watch them prepare the food with the onion volcano and the shrimp flipping, and they put it all in a box? Or do you just pick up the food?

https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/disneyland-proceeds-reopening-plans-downtown-002332960.htmlI saw this on Yahoo news. It says that DTD will proceed with opening and have outdoor dining. Was there an official post from Disney regarding that? I can't find one.
People magazine is also reporting it so it must be somewhat official.
The Yahoo article is a reprint of the People article. But the DIS article basically agrees (California Governor Shuts Down Bars, Indoor Restaurants in Orange County) because there has been no news to the contrary. So I guess we just assume "all systems go" with DTD reopening until Disney officially says something otherwise.
