Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

This just talks about his most recent quotes and adding OC to the watchlist. I have a feeling he’s gonna roll everything back. As he probably should based on the cases there. Stay safe everyone!

ETA: here’s another article about the announcement but all it says is “ He also announced that he will be making announcements on Wednesday regarding "enforcement: and other possible rollbacks of recent reopenings and easing of health orders.”

Do these news conferences happen at noon pacific time?

We’re looking at May/June. I have this fantasy in my head where we pick up our son for his last day of kindergarten, but instead of driving home, we drive to the airport. He would lose his mind ☺

I would only do this if the reservation system is still in place then, though, because it would put us right over Memorial Day weekend. Well, I think so anyway. The school calendar is such a mess, I can’t say for sure when the last day of school will be!
I booked a DVC room from Fri-Tues of Memorial Day. In theory, the Thursday before is the last day of school and All Star baseball starts Tuesday 6/1. Schools are already delayed here (AZ) but they took the days from Fall break and Thanksgiving for now. I’m a teacher so we’ll have tp see how it plays out....

Just had another call from DL/WDTC asking us to modify or cancel our July 24-30 vacation. This is the third call in four days! They really don’t want my family to come out there :)
If we have to reschedule I am thinking about September/October so we can see Halloween decorations. Early December would be nice too if the parks are still at reduced capacity.

Interesting.... I have a July 27th - Auguust 1st at GCH and haven't received any calls yet,

My suspicion is that Newsom will announce that the mask order is now an enforceable law with a punishment for violation, under his executive powers during the state of emergency.

It sounds like he will threaten counties who do not actively enforce the restrictions with withholding funding earmarked for them.

He said he will focus on "indoor" activities and venues, and not outdoor activities since virus spread is not a concern in outdoor activities for the most part.

I expect bars and breweries to be closed by tomorrow night in OC, along with a suggestion to limit in person dining even further, perhaps down to 25% capacity indoors and to expand outdoor dining even further when possible.

Interestingly, my city of Irvine has had a mask order in place since April 10 and our city's numbers have not exploded like the rest of the county has. We are sitting at around 325 cases since January for our 300,000 population. The masks really do work. I hope they become mandatory everywhere in the state soon.

This would be my speculation too

La has had a mask order since April but we have a bunch of problems still 🤷🏾‍♀️ Probably lack of enforcement. When I go to the stores and malls everyone is compliant with the masks, but I’m sure in other places it’s a different story.

I have a feeling he will also make businesses who are out of compliance with the rules to pay a fine or close down. I think last week 30% of restaurants are out of compliance with the LA Health order.

Yeah, the issue with county level orders is that the sheriffs decided not to enforce them. Same happened in OC. At the city level, our PD HAS been enforcing it and there are fines to business owners who allow in non masked customers.

Not surprised, Irvine has a very very different demographic mix from other south OC cities that is generally conducive to mask wearing.

(former Irvine resident here, I miss the bubble)
