Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

This is very good news because people were posting that the site had crashed again (!) this morning and was down for over an hour. Something about adding "magical enhancements." Uh huh. Let's hope everyone who needs to can get on now and get their issues resolved!
It seemed like it was down while they were loading in the 2021 packages. I think that happens every year? Kind a like how the Apple store goes down before they load in the new iPhone. This morning I was able to book a 2021 WDW trip and make park reservations; it took about 10 minutes total.

I think the hardest part of the Disneyland start up is going to be the slamming of the servers when annual pass park reservations open up. I truly don’t know how they avoid that.

Hypothetical question: I have tickets from a 3rd party site and have them linked to my DL app. I'm thinking of potentially booking a room-only at PPH for our trip just to have priority when the park reservation system opens. So the question is, what happens to my park reservations if I cancel the hotel? Will they disappear? Or will they still be linked to my tickets?

If DLR copies WDW then your reservations are linked to your stay. You won’t lose your tickets but you will lose the reservation as the reservation will be linked to the duration of your stay at PPH, whatever length that will be.

Looks like safety requirements were released to CMs at DLR. They look pretty standard and is sending a message that they are moving forward. Read that CMs have one opportunity to come back to work. If not they can go on LOA or quit. Source: Inside the Magic and twitter: @disneydragon

Selfishly, I am hoping that they will keep things closed and/or close them again if things spike, simply because we have a non-refundable VGC reservation and if cases are trending upward I doubt my parents, our traveling companions, will want to go. I'd rather it be closed and we get to reschedule than have to make the decision on whether or not to go.
You didn’t rent points right?

CA law requires Disney to report to EDD (unemployment) if they offer employment and an employee refuses. I wondered if they had some way around that but it sounds like they don’t.

CMs can decline returning during the first wave of call-backs. When the 2nd wave of call-backs occur, then they have to take LOA or quit.

Hopefully the 2nd wave won’t occur right away - lots of Entertainment CMs will be filling Attraction and Food/Bev roles for quite awhile.

Thank you for adding context to that bit of information! It would be quite strict to do that right out of the gate.

Oof. Well at least you have the option to rebook! Feel so bad for those who rented and had to eat the whole cost because the hotel was closed. Devil is in the details on those points rentals for sure!
If the hotel is closed, the company we rented through will give us a credit and allow us to rebook. Right now we're in the decision process of do we just cancel and lose our deposit (but at least not lose out on the whole thing), or do we go ahead and pay the rest and know that if we decide not to go we lose all the money.

All of this because my husband didn't want to spend the extra $500 for the insurance, and I decided (against my better judgement) to go with what he wanted on this one 👿 I know better - always trust my gut!

Newsom - wrapped up conference -- more on how to open, not when to open. With the rules and regulations Disney has shown, my bet is July 17th is moving forward.
I missed it! I saw that the conference was happening too late, boo. What did he say?

Caught part of it essentially california is spiking cases and hospitalizations; led by Bay area counties and LA ---did NOT mention Orange though (LA and Riverside got the brunt) .

-Went on to talk that it's how we open and being smart about it. Didn't talk about delay or closing -
-Admonished folk for badgering/threatening health officials - they are doing their jobs. best to heed their advice -- this isn't politics.
-Said up to counties to enforce ordinances. If counties choose not to, funding tied to county services can be at jeopardy based on budget agreements.

-no direct mention of parks notable that I caught. May have missed as was in/out of the call

My daughter is an Entertainment CM. She hasn't heard anything from Disney, but she just passed her 1-year anniversary so not that long on the job. She moved back home (Chico) when school and work shut down in spring and finished up online. Since her school (UCI) is apparently going to be online for a while, she may stay up here unless she gets called back to work, but she will need to let her landlord know her plans pretty soon. I think one of the hardest things about this pandemic is all of the uncertainty and not knowing what direction things will take.
