Disneyland raises ticket prices for most types of admission

That’s why we decided to go with the Believe Keys for my family of 4 from Hawaii. We paid $909 for each key. We will make 3 trips with at least 18 total park days which comes out to $50.50 per day with park hopping ability. Hopefully we could add on more park days on short notice which will lower the daily rate. I think it’s a good deal.

Ugh. I'm trying to decide what to do.

We have 5 day hoppers that we were planning to return since we moved our trip to WDW. I was going to return them and use that money to help pay for our WDW trip.

Now, with the price increase, I'm hesitant to do so, but we're also not usually 5 day people. Usually we're 3-4 day people. And we don't actually have a DL trip planned yet, probably will go either summer 2022 or that fall. So while I don't want to pay more, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush and all that.

Actually, this did not happen. They do this, usually in the spring time.

Do they really have an Anaheim resident deal? I live here and have never heard of that, although I've had an AP/MK for many years.

They had one in the summer/late summer (SoCal ticket deal) just before APs were reintroduced.

Except the joke was on you because those tickets were definitely not upgradable to AP when it dropped in late August.

Womp womp.

Disney giveth. Disney taketh away like a scorned 6 year old who missed their nap.

Here's the math: 5 day park hoppers were $415. With the price increase, 3 day hoppers will be $390, 4 day hoppers will be $420 and 5 day hoppers will be $440. You gain $25 if you go 3 days, lose $5 if you go 4 days and lose $25 if you go 5 days.

I would refund the tickets. Assuming you're 50-50 between going 3 days and 4 days, you'll expect to save money by going fewer days. If you took the money and invested it, you'd only need a 1.2% return to make up the $5 difference. Even if you somehow end up going for 5 days in the future, you likely could make investments that would make up the 6% difference. The stock market historically does 10% annual return and most USD stablecoin interest accounts would pay enough.

I love that you did this math! Thank you for confirming my gut feeling.

It wasn't even just a SoCal ticket deal. It was a California resident deal  . For me that fact plus the fine print early on that it "couldn't be upgraded" were red flags that some form of AP program was going to be returning soon and likely returning before those tickets expired 😂

I'll be curious if future deals go back to SoCal residents only or if they continue to try to entice all of California residents. I expect those deals to go back to SoCal only, but who knows. The payment plan once upon a time was only for SoCal residents before expanding to all California :confused3

Oh yeah! Totally forgot about that, my mind was on the SoCal deal of 2019 (spring, I think) that may have bumped up against the SWGE opening.

My gut says back to SoCal only 2022 -- business as usual. I always get mad that the deals are Southern California and Northern Baja California, Mexico.

Like...Angostura, BC, Mexico is 500 miles from Anaheim. Why do they get a discount when they're further away from Disneyland than someone living in Santa Cruz, CA, United States (only 300 miles from Anaheim, as the crow flies).

Sing it, Brother! From my front door to the portico at the Grand is 438 miles driving distance, straight line distance 392 miles. Someone living 500 miles away gets a ticket, but I don't even though I live closer. Heck, some people in Nevada live even closer than I do! I say draw a 500 mile radius from the Esplanade and offer tickets if you live within that zone.

Oh yeah, I knew about the California Resident ticket (and didn't buy it, because I noticed it couldn't be upgraded).

Somebody upthread had mentioned an Anaheim resident discount and that's what I was asking about, as I'd never heard of that.

I've lived in Anaheim many years and also never heard of that. :) I assume they're referring to the 'SoCal' general discount Disney used to offer a lot.

Only during the 50th / 2005 did we receive a comp ticket as a 'thank you' for nearby residents, as we live very close to the park. This was back when Matt Ouimet was President of the resort and was really trying to turn things around and improve moral IMO.

Dodger Girl was saying that Disney should give Anaheim residents discounted tickets. I came in and said they do in the spring time, meaning the So Cal tickets that generally come out in Feb/Mar. I did not intend to mean they were limited to only thee 350K residents of Anaheim. Imagine if that was to happen. There are areas of Fullerton and Garden Grove that are closer to Disneyland that parts of Anaheim. We would have even more "But we are closer than they are" than we do with the SoCal discounts.

We used to have APs but haven’t been up-to-date on Disney news since the shut-down. I apologize if this has been answered already, but I’m thinking of getting passes again and am wondering if the price increase starting tomorrow included the annual passes (magic keys)?

They did not, since those were just started in late-August. The price increases (which are already in effect) were for tickets and parking.

Third party sites still retain the old ticket pricing, with varying end dates.

So true! :rotfl2:
