DISNEYLAND - Professional Recruitment (Not College Students)

I have a question that doesn't pertain to current college students in general. My question is geared more towards the people here who already have college degrees and have been working professionals in Management, Sales, Accounting, Architecture and other related professions.

If any of you are Walt Disney Cast Members, feel free to offer us some advice. Here's my questions:

1) What is the key that unlocks opportunities at Disneyland for current working professionals who desire to become part of the Disney Magic?

2) Where is the Disney Professional Recruitment located? At Disneyland or in Burbank, CA?

3) If you are a current Disney Cast Member, how did you get your break into Disney, Walt Disney World or Corporate?

4) Do you know what the Disneyland Professional Recruiter Department phone numbers and email addresses are?

I guess Disneyland employees do not stop by this board.

I called Disneyland's Professional Recruitment department and spoke to a gentleman who was nice BUT he did say "I do not think it is appropriate for me to give out other recruiter's names".

But he did say that because they receive huge quantities of resumes, if you did not get selected for a position, more than likely your resume will be given to those recruiters who will need your experience. So you have to be patient.

Update: Maybe this is an anomaly. I called Professional Recruitment again on Friday. The employee who answered the phone was pleasant.

BUT the recruiter who assisted me definitely did NOT elude Disney concern or customer service. He was one of the rudest persons I have ever dealt with in a so called professional company.

His demeanor was as if I was bothering him. He also would not tell me the name of the recruiter I should be talking to, nor did he present himself as Disney policies dicate. If he were one of my employees, he would certainly be fired.

Having worked in Casting, I can tell you that the policy is to not give out names of specific recruiters or hiring managers to people seeking professional positions. To apply for any of them, you need to submit a resume through disneycareers.com. (You can also search for the postings on Monster.com; they are the exact same listings.)

You can e-mail, fax or mail a resume and cover letter to Disney Professional Recruiting, but I guarantee you the first thing they will do is open your resume, scan it, and it will show up with every other resume that was submitted online.

If you're not selected for the first stage of interviewing, your resume is saved in a database, and is kept on file for approximately 6 months. When a search is done on that database to find candidates, yours can be pulled out of there as well.

Where your resume is ultimately sent depends on what business segment you are applying for -- Disneyland, Walt Disney World, Walt Disney Studios, Buena Vista Pictures, Radio Disney, etc. etc. each have their own distinct hiring department. The overall process stays the same, as it's what's been determined to be best practice org-wide.

There is no magic key, unless luck and (appropriately applied) persistence count. Networking never hurts, and is an excellent way to get your foot in the door. If you take a seasonal position at the resort, you'll have a chance at internal postings company-wide; every role must be posted internally before it's posted externally, so you give yourself a much better shot going at any position from the inside.

Thank you Kate! Your information is much appreciated.

If that recruiter only told me this from the beginning, I would have accepted it and moved on.
