Just like many of you, we are excited to attend the D23 Expo in Anaheim in September. I'm sure this will draw a lot of fans from around the country and the world to the Disneyland Park after hours.

I was checking the calendar on Disneyland.com and I was concerned to see that both the Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain are listed as being closed for refurbishments. I understand that these closures are probably related to holiday overlay installations but I really wish they could do something about this for the weekend of the expo. I'm concerned about how this crowds will be affected if these 2 majors draws are closed.

Maybe we should contact them and make sure these two groups planning things are talking to each other?

Yes they are for holiday overlays. They really can't "wait a few more days" since the Halloween season starts Sept. 25. What are your concerns in regards to crowds?

Well like most concerns regarding crowds, it's about them being too big, believe it or not. These rides eat up thousands of park guests per hour and them not being open on overcrowded days will lead to overcrowding in the walkways and long wait times on other rides.

Not to mention that I would like to ride those attractions on my annual trip :)

I assure you Disneyland is well aware of the dates of The D23 Convention. It is being advertised everywhere, including the streets of Anaheim, INSIDE Disneyland, INSIDE resort hotels, everywhere.

The closure of the 2 attractions you mentioned does not really create the crowd issues you are concerned about because the people get absorbed into so many other places, attractions, restaurants, shops, and areas it is not felt in the way you are envisioning.

Somewhere there is another thread that discusses D23 Convention and ride closures. If I can find it, I'll link it here for you. (ETA: Here's the link.)
