We've driven from Calais and Zeebrugge and it really is not bad. The toll roads are great. You just need to see the amount of day-trippers on the ferry to see how many keep coming back :)
You can do the drive in around 3 hours. We are always about another 1/2 hour as the troops need a rest stop ;)

What route did you take from Calais to DLP?

The Holiday Inn is about 3 km from DLP (apparantly).

Don't think I can wait that long though! :teeth: ;)

I'm saying this very quietly so no one hears, but I did not think I would like it. I was dragged there under protest :teeth: Changed days :rotfl2:

If you PM your email address I'll be able to send you a detailed route of roads and exits to get there.

Thats probably about right, it is under 2 miles. Shuttle bus takes 5/10 minutes and I heard others walk from Explorers (which is in the same area as HI) to the park and take about 30 minutes.

IMHO the only tough part is just after CDG, missed the turning the first year ! Thank God for sat nav!

Holiday Inn is a bracing walk - about half an hour - longer if you take in the bars at Hotel Cheyenne, Santa Fe, Explorers and the Movenpick. It beats waiting in line for the bus, especially at peak times, and makes you feel virtuous. (on non-pub crawl nights!) It also makes your language more expressive as you see a pink bendy bus pass you when you are just too far from the Holiday Inn to run back, and too far from the Movenpick to run forward!
The drive down from Calais is easy peasy (apart from the bit after CDG when we went wrong too, and even now one has to drive and the other one shout - NOT THAT LANE!!!) With a car you can also visit Val D'Europe to stock up on croissants for breakfasts and soft drinks and booze so you only need to eat one meal a day in the park.
I can be frugal but have to eat at the table service restaurants - otherwise there is no point in going!

Just did a search for flights from Heathrow to Paris via BMI Baby, and they are looking pretty good too.

So, how do we get from Charles de Gaulle airport train station to DLP train station? What train line do we need to take?
And how much does it cost (roughly?). :confused3

Is it far by train?

Price wise, I am getting it to cost approx. only £40 more to fly which isn't bad, and saves us having to worry about the driving (neither of us have ever driven abroad before!!!!) :scared1:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Interesting tour ;)

All in the interestsof market research you understand! And the only night I fell over was when I hadn't had a drop and tripped over the kerb in the car park in the Santa Fe whilst taking a short cut over the gravel - flat on my face with interesting gravel patterns on my palms! I am sure that somewhere in my genetic code I have matches with a kelly doll.

If you prebook the tickets, they can cost from £11 per adult each way. I booked mine through here. I don't know how much they would cost on the day.

And see here for various details of CDG airport.

CUTE picture Reid!!

Just have to say my piece. I much prefer DLP over WDW. The architecture is much more beautiful and I love the European touches. Having been twice to WDW and numerous times to DLP I cannot see how a week in DLP could be anywhere near as expensive as a week in WDW. Furthermore, NOWHERE beats DLP at Christmas. There are just no words! There now, piece said, feel much better!!!

Don't worry Nicola you are on the right board to say DLP is better ;)

I have been looking at prices for me and DH maybe for our 2nd Wedding Anniversary, but the prices always come back so high.

Anyone got any tips on a budget trip to DLP? :confused3

Hi, on 2000 dear hubby and I decided to go to DLP. Just for a weekend. On friday evening my husband drove from the office, picked me and the suitcase ad then drove directly to Dover. We were coming from Cambridge. I was a bit sick on the boat, so, take something with you, just in case. From Calais we went to our hotel in Noisy le Grand. We stayed at a cheap hotel, Formule1, you can find the website. Pratically was a bed with a room around. Ok for sleeping but... I was joking with my hubby, because of the name "Noisy", saying: "oh, must be noisy, you know? The big noisy".
Well, we arrived just before midnight, and went to bed: at 2 we woke up because an alarm clock was ringing somewere in the room! We discovered that the tv works also as alarm clock.
Someone did set it like that and left.
The day after, we managed to get the park, sleepy as we were. :jumping3:
We didn't spend a lot, in the evening we ate outside, but I don't remember where, around Noisy, maybe.
