So Ive been googling and reading tons of stickies and haven't found answers to my questions yet. Its probably because my brain is geared for WDW and how everything just links up there. The disconnected nature of the DL system confuses my a bit. I purchased 4 day park hoppers with maxpass. Staying at VGC via DVC points.

1. Do you get a "card" upon entering the park or do you have to scan your phone or paper ticket ticket all day?
2. What do you scan when a Photopass is taken in the park?
3. How do I setup photopass on the DL MDE page? It says "link your photo pass ID from you photopass card". Do I get that at the gate on the first day?
4. Is anything linked back to your hotel when you stay onsite at all?

1. When you go through the turnstiles the first time, the CM will scan your ticket print out/bar code on your phone and give you a card stock ticket (about the size of a credit card). This is what you will sign and scan into the app for MP. You will use this ticket at the FP machines if you use free FP for any reason. And you will use this ticket at the FP machines for F! and WOC since those shows are not linked to MP at this time.
2. You can get a PP card from any photographer which can be scanned whenever you get photos taken or the photographer will scan the bar code/QR code on your app after you activate MP. Any photographer can walk you through this. After that, you'll get the hang of it.
3. DL does not have MDE. DL has the official Disneyland App. Make sure you have the DLR app downloaded and ready to go on your phone. Make sure you have the latest version. Again, any PP CM can help you set up your app with either a card or a QR code.

You can use your paper tickets to scan at the FP return lines at rides if you want to save battery life. For some people, having the tickets in a lanyard/Witz wallet/whatever else works is easier for return scanning than using their phone. Other people much prefer using their phones. But keep those tickets! And if the app goes wonky, those tickets will come in handy for getting FPs the old fashioned way.

4. Is anything liked back to your hotel when yuo stay onsite at all?

At DL, Park tickets and hotel keys are not linked. You can however set up charge back privileges on your resort room key and put all your in park charges on your room (almost all, there a one or two minor exceptions), essentially using your hotel key to pay for everything and only having one bill vs a gazillion credit card charges.

That does not apply to DTD except World of Disney and other Disney owned and operated stores. Third party locations do not participate.

Thanks all. A couple more.

1. The tickets they give you are literally paper and not credit card style?
2. After you visit the first PP photographer the card they give you to scan is the card you use the entire stay?

1. It is more sturdy than a piece of paper. I believe it may be Tyvek combined with paper. They won’t fall apart or tear easily. Some people like to put them in lanyards. Personally I’ve had zero issues with them being torn or destroyed. To be cautious, take a pic of the back of the tickets when you first get them in case you lose them or whatver. Easier to get a replacement.
2. You can use that card for the rest of your visit, but you can also add multiple PP cards to your account. So if your party is separated for example, they could get a new PP card and add it to your account.
