I managed to get tomorrow off of work. It's hard to get time off this time of year and we have the so cal passes which turn into pumpkins this weekend...

I want to take the kids to see the Christmas decorations and tomorrow is basically our last chance.

BUT the reports say it's going to rain and be in the 50's. What to do what to do :(

You will get a lot of different opinions on this topic, but I say go!!

If you bundle up, have a good umbrella or poncho, you can have a full day. The best part is the crowds are always low on rainy days!!

I wish I could go tomorrow but I have a performance so I have to wait till Friday.

Bring rain pants if you have them or at least maybe bring a pile of plastic bags (like maybe garbage bags) because i think they will come in handy to sit on, put things in, etc.

Rainboots? What are these rainboots of which you speak? ;) LOL

I will look for rain wear tomorrow morning before we leave - may have to run to Wal Mart at 8 am...

I have a sniffly 1 year old and a 4 year old. My 16 year old wants to ditch school to come but I wont let him.

Will they shut down rides?

Alice and the Teacups will be closed in rain. And no Christmas parade - just a rainy day Cavalcade. Enjoy!

Well....I love my Sloggers! It's really more of a garden shoe/boot. The best, but you'd have to order them on line. I'm sure you can find something at Wal-Mart.

Have fun:cool1:

We were there on Monday when it was pouring...we saw some characters...but they stay under cover.

The real bonus is that the park will be empty! I walked in the bathrooms by the Tiki room and I was the only one in there! Awesome!

Teacups were shut down but Dumbo was open. Noone was on it. 4 yo wanted to go on but baby brother was asleep - so a CM rode with her.

Feet are dry. Coats are soaked despite the ponchos.

There were no lines. We went on toy story/haunted mansion and pirates multiple times. The parks closed early today due to the rain.

Probably wont do that again with little kids - I spent the whole time worrying about my 1 year old.

So how did you manage to keep your feet dry? Did you buy rain boots? If so, from where? I am trying to prepare for the worst. The last 2 years that we went in January it poured rain day and night and our shoes, socks, gloves, jeans -- everything that wasn't covered by the poncho -- were soaked. We had fun, but it was cold!:scared1:

Ponchos are so worthless in heavy rain. We got drenched last November. We saw people in rainsuits and we were so jealous.

So we went and bought some at Bass Pro Shop when we got home. I wore the jacket at WDW but I haven't had to wear the pants yet. I imagine they would be great (unless it's hot out.)

This is what we bought (the green).... http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/s..._31152_625011000_625000000_625011000_625-11-0

I'll be bringing it in January and leaving it in the room. Unless the forecast is for rain...then I'll throw it in a locker, just in case.

I also have really cute rain boots to keep my feet dry.

We were there yesterday was well!! And I did thank the lord many times that my kids weren't on this trip with us. I saw many many lil ones crying and wet...just shivering. We actually left the parks at four because we had to get to the airport. It was miserable and cold...and when that wind kicked up I was freezing! But we still have a good time...the park was empty! :)

We were at the Rose Parade a couple of years ago when it was POURING rain and we never even thought to find rain pants. It wasn't until a few months back when i saw someone suggest them on these boards (maybe it was you Lucy?) that I realized what a great idea that would have been for us. Like you said, the ponchos are worthless in heavy rain.

I may have suggested it a while back on one of my old user names (I get bored and change names all the time. I wish there was a feature on this site to do it without making a new account...haha.)

The rain pants would not be good in warm weather though. So if it rains on us next month, I hope it's kind of chilly out.

Thanks for the suggestion but I don't think it'll get here in time unless I pay for express shipping and that's going to cost more than the item. :scared1:

We were there on Monday during the horrid downpour--Monorail wasn't running, so by the time we walked from the Disneyland hotel to the front gates, the kids were soaked to the bone, crying, and miserable (we had what we THOUGHT were waterproof jackets--more like SPONGES!)

So we went back to the hotel, changed into dry clothes, my wife bought ponchos at the hotel gift shop, and we waited about an hour til the rain started to let up a little. At 10:30 or so, we ventured back out and had a great rest of the day--it rained off and on, and a couple rides were closed (teacups, alice, etc. as mentioned) but everything else was a walk-on--5minutes for Toy Story Mania, etc.

Of course, our 1:00pm Priority Seating at the Carnation Cafe got cancelled--it was closed because of the rain--but we just went to the Plaza Inn instead!

So rain can still be fun, but you need to be prepared so it doesn't "dampen" your spirits (pun intended).

That is a good one! I like that, it is funny!

A long raincoat and an umbrealla (if you don't want to get wet at all) plus rain boots or snow boots will help a lot.

Go. You may miss some of the rides due to precautionary measures but it's better to be in a nearly empty park and feasting rather than staying home wondering what it's like.
