Disneyland in October?

We went to Dland in October 2000, and it was SO quiet we practically had the park to ourselves for an entire week!

We decided to do it again last October, oh boy, how it has changed. It was packed! Waits were very long for most every ride. It was hard just to get through the crowds.

Here's a pic to give you an idea of what we were dealing with. This was taken in Fantasy Land.

We were just there last Oct. (2008) on a Tues./Weds. (7th & 8th) and it was not too bad...but it was HOT! In the 90's...were were roasting for most of the day...cooled off at night, of course. But we were not prepared w/ enough to drink and weren't dressed cool enough.

We were just back again in March (Mon 16th-Thurs. 19th) and the crowds were much higher then. BUT, it was SO much cooler and more comfortable during that time...that the trade off was just about the same.

Hope that helps some!

Our school district here in the Bay Area has the weeks of Sept 28 and Oct 5th for their 2 week break. We decided to go Sept 27-30th. Hoping the crowds won't be as bad as the week of the 5th and we will still be able to catch the Halloween decorations! :thumbsup2

We have a wedding in San Diego to go to on Oct 3, and I'm thinking of taking the prior week to go to DL. We would be there 9/26 - 10/1, and could just make the 5-for-3 promotion. Will the Halloween decorations be up yet? Does DL have MNSSHP like WDW does? Or is there some other named promo/party? In either case, when does it typically start? Thanks much.

We went in mid October of 2006 and the weather was great and the crowds weren't too bad.

Of course my interpretation of the crowds has changed now that I have little ones. I used to be the type of person that had to pack everything in the first day and maximise the FP and move quickly across the park.

Now that I have toddlers I don't seem to pay as much attention to the crowds as I do my own kids and I enjoy watching them take it all in regardless of the crowds around me. We spread everything out over multiple days, etc...

So I am not sure if the crowds were actually lighter than other times or if it was just my own perspective that had changed, but the weather and crowds weren't bad at all in my opinion.

That is why we chose to go back in mid October again this year, because for us it was the most enjoyable of our recent trips over the past few years.

We went in October of 03 and there were no crowds at all. During the week we would walk on everything or less than five minute wait. When we went again in Oct 05 it was much different, but not horrible. SM, TOT and Indy had some long wait times but everything else was not more than 20 minutes. I don't know if we hit one of the special days or not, but you could tell something was different. We are going again this late Oct and as far as I can tell we are missing the big October dates listed. We shall see how it goes.

We are going Oct 16-21 and hoping for decent weather and crowds. Sounds like we will miss most of the other events so that sounds good. We already bought tickets to the halloween party on the 16th.

I went last year during Oct... the crowds were very manageable, and the weather was cool. If I remember correctly it was mid october. I recommend it, but remember that the parks will have minimal operating hours.

My family and I went the first week in October last year and loved it. The crowds were larger during the weekend which we expected. It was tolerable though. The decorations for Halloween we absolutely awesome. :) We had a great time and I hope you will too! :thumbsup2

(By the way, we were there during Gay Days and it was no biggie for us. There were just more people in red shirts!)
