Would love to hear feedback regarding visiting Disneyland in December. We are looking at the first week in December-(Sunday,Monday, Tuesday) Is this a good time to go? Have been in February and had a wonderful time due to small crowds. Thanks for your thoughts.

Moving this up to the DL board so you can get more feedback.

Anyway, early Dec used to be great. Not so much now. It's pretty crowded anymore. Especially on weekends. The first full weekend of the month is Candlelight, and that brings in a lot of people.

I just visited this past December and enjoyed it very much. The Previous posted is correct in saying you will want to avoid the week following the Candlelight Procession as the parks close early Monday and Tuesday of the week for cast parties. I went that week and just went to Universal instead for a day. The crowds were managable Wednesday and Thursday but on Friday it was awful.:scared1: I think next time I go I'll avoid FRiday, Saturday and Sunday all together. The weather was great, the park decorations beautiful (although I like regular HM better).

Hope this helped...any questions...please ask.

We go to DL every December and that is a good week to go we've found. The Thanksgiving carry-over crowds are gone and no one is off school in the area yet, so the weekdays are cool but relatively unpopulated.

We went the week after Thanksgiving. It was a great time to go. However, it got busier as the week went by. Tues, Wed, Thurs there were little or no wait times. Friday, more crowded but manageable. Saturday was insane. Huge waits (especially since earlier in the week we had walked on) but that was the night of the Candlelight Processional and the weather was great.

We went 12/5/06 (Wednesday) through 12/8/06 (Saturday). Wednesday and Thursday were great. Friday and Saturday were okay early. Friday night was horrible --avoid at all costs! Saturday was doable at California Adventure. Hope that helps.

What about the week before Christmas, say thurs or fri? We are heading to Cali for Christmas and would like to take the kids. thanks :hippie:

Hi! First of all where in Kansas are you from? I was born and raised in Salina.
Now as far as going in the first week of December it is supposed to be a slow time. At least I am hoping it is. We will be there with our 4 year old granddaughter. I know the closer it gets to Christmas the busier it gets. The week after Christmas is extremely busy. Enjoy!

DL in December is tradition for us... We normally head there either the 2nd or third week in December. Our last trip was the week before Christmas and Tues - Thursday are normally pretty good, but Friday and Saturday can get pretty crowded later in the day. We usually go early and leave in the afternoon to do DCA or have a nice late lunch early dinner somewhere and catch a movie. I love this time of year at the parks. We have been doing this for 6 years now and it is a family tradition... This last year, my DS(8) class had a holiday project and when asked the question what is your christmas tradition... He proudly answered that we go to Disneyland with our Aunt TT. :santa:

We are also going to DL the last week in Nov or first week in Dec. We plan to go Mon-Thurs at the parks to avoid the weekends and high crowds. From my research and understanding both of these times are recommended. Weekends can get crazy, but if you have Ridemax it may help.

We have decided to go the 2,3 and 4 due to what we have read... Have fun in March.

There are a few newbies on this thread! First of all...

:welcome: to the friendliest DIS board on earth (or cyberspace!)

IMO (which is not very humble ;) ) December is the most magical time to visit the parks. Even with crowds, the extra decorations and events make it the perfect way to get into the holiday season.

Have fun planning! Hope to see you around the DIS!

We have been in Overland Park for the last 7 years- before that Prairie Village. I was born in Nebraska. ( A Husker at heart) We used to visit Salina to see relatives. They now live in Colorado. I wish we were closer to Disneyland. Can't get enough of that place. Thanks for the input...

We are at 147th and Antioch... Truly a small world. I see that you are in Arizona. I bet you don't miss our weather. I think it is 5 degrees as we speak...My kids are 5 and 10 and can't wait to see the park dressed for the holidays. Let the count down begin... Take care...

:lmao: No, I do not miss your weather. I had to go see my family there last month and I froze. I could not walk 10 feet without feeling like I was going to turn into a statue. It should be close to 80 here today. Very happy about that! :)

I do however miss the trees and our vacation home at the Lake of the Ozarks!
