Does pph or dlh sleep 5 people?

We haven't stayed at at pph, but dlh rooms can have two queen beds and a fold out couch.

Both times I have stayed at Paradise Pier Hotel there has been a sofa bed in the room. I'm not sure if this is included in every room though.

We have stayed at the Disneyland Hotel many times and get a couch in our room most of the time. Most rooms have a couch, just make sure to request one. It is probably the same at Paradise Pier.

The PPH has a couch in the rooms, but like Hannakriks suggests, make a request for room with a couch. I have had to use the couch at PPH before, and they are nice for the youngest in your group. A bit small for adults.

Is the couch bed tolerable?

Every room we have had at PPH has had a daybed (couch). It alone would be okay to sleep on just to have something other than the floor upon which to rest your weary head. However, up until December of last year, we had not been aware that this daybed actually opens out into a bed!!! My friend knew that it opened into one but couldn't figure out how to assemble it. And then someone else on the DIS posted a picture of what it looks like flat and in bed-mode!! So basically, all the rooms at PPH are meant to accommodate up to 5 people, but I bet that many folks see this daybed and do not know - as we didn't know - that it unfolds into a flat mattress!!

Count me in the group that didn't know. That is hat I love about Disboards. I always learn something new!

Does anyone know if a child under age 3 counts towards room occupancy? We have 6 total in our family (actually 2 are under age 3), would we fit in any of the Disney hotel rooms??

We have stayed at the DLH and they have 2 queens with a sofa (daybed) couch. You can also reques a rollaway bed that is not the typical fold in half kind. It is more like a twin on a foundation, we have had these each time for no extra charge. There is also a porta crib playpen in the closet. When you make the reservation, they state 5 is only allowed because of city codes, however, you can easily sleep 6 in the room.
