Disneyland Hotel v Hotel New York

Hi ,

I wonder if anyone can offer some advice ?

We are Disney Vacation Club Members who sometimes use any spare vacation points to visit Disneyland Paris , and we have enjoyed some wonderful stays at The Disneyland Hotel.

However , the points per night are so over the top , even out of season we may have to stay at The Hotel New York which is much cheaper 'points wise' per night.

How do the two compare ? I have read some grim reports on Trip Advisor about the room cleanliness and decor being shabby with poor bed linen & towels.

I understand the hotel is being refurbished at the moment - any idea when this will be complete ?

Also , is there a lovely breakfast as there is at The Disneyland Hotel?

Basically we have a choice of 2 nights at The Disneyland Hotel , or 3 at either Hotel New York , or The Newport Bay Club - what would you do ?

I don't feel 2 nights is quite enough , but if i am to be disappointed in the other hotels it may be worth considering .

Thanks

I've not stayed at either so can't help there BUT I've read reports on here saying that the standard of service at the New York is better than at the DLH. I believe you also get a hot breakfast there, just minus the characters outside, although I'm sure there's a meet n greet in the hotel reception in the morning.

When are you planning on going? At the moment guests staying at the Newport Bay have to walk the long way round the lake to get to the park because of the work taking place in Disney Village so that would definitely take that out of the equation for me plus you have to pay extra for a hot breakfast there.

If I were you, I'd take the 3 night option at the New York as this will give you an extra day ~ if you find you don't like it there you'll know for next time.

Hi. We've stayed at both and love both, although DLH is rather expensive. Hot breakfast available at both, didnt notice any difference. Breakfast characters - at DLH right outside the door by the fireplace, at HNY, 20 yards down the corridor between reception and breakfast, so again no difference (although you dont tend to get the "spare" characters hanging around at HNY). I prefer DLH in very cold weather as you dont have to drag the kids through the village, HNY for value at other times.

ps if I believed everything I read on TripAdvisor I'd never leave home!!

LOL! sometimes people have the silliest reasons for slating hotels!

I too have stayed at both - The DLH was our favourite hotel up until I stayed at the New York Hotel last year - I was blown away by the hotel I loved everything about it - very helpful and cheery staff, lovely big rooms, no issues at all with the room it was very clean, warm and plenty of clean towels etc. All of the common areas were bright with a lovely atmosphere and the restaurant we ate in was great (Parkside Diner). The walk to the Park through the village is quite short but you do have to go through a security check when going into the Parks - never had that when in the Disneyland Hotel! Suffice to say we are headed back there in February!

Enjoy whatever hotel you decide on!

I have stayed in both & they are both very nice hotels. I really like the theme of the HNY as i'm a massive NYC fan.

I would only stay in the DLH again though if I got the 50% off deal as I feel its just not worth the amount it usually is even though it is a nice hotel. I'd rather save my money & have more to spend on other things:thumbsup2

I have to agree with everything everyone else has said. Whilst I really loved our stay at DLH last year, there is no way I could justify the full price (we got a 40% off deal).

We all absolutely love the HNY and I actually missed it last time when we were not there. I love the walk through the village, it's close enough to have EMH at the park and then back for breakfast around 9:30ish. The rooms are large, nice decor, staff lovely, pool great in summer with outside section, tennis courts, great hot breakfast, character meets in the lobby each day. I cannot reccommend it enough.

I'd ignore any reviews on trip advisor about ANY dlp hotel. I think we can all agree that all the on site hotels are expensive for what they are, and I think a lot of people who are not regular visitors expect much, much more for what they get - we, however are happy to pay the extra to be on-site.

We stayed at both . HNY in Sept and DLH in December.
Don't really think that DLH is worth the large extra, very little difference in the rooms, location, however, was fantastic in the freezing weather but we only ended up at DLH because Hotel New York was full.
Breakfast not much different, no pancakes at HNY, other than that.....
We are back at HNY in March. Would like everyone else go back to DLH but only if it was on a good offer and in the height of winter.

Thank you everyone !

I feel so much better now about staying at The Hotel New York , can't wait for October now !:yay:
