Hi...we are WDW vets and are going to Disneyland in NOv....I really wanted to stay at the Grand California but is booked...so I booked the Disneyland Hotel....now I am thinking that the Paradise may be better...what are the pros and cons of both resorts....we really like being near the action and like confienence to everything...I booked a Downtown veiw at the Disneyland hotel....Which hotel is easier to get to the parks...Disneyland hotel or paradise pier...any info would be great....thanks...amy

The paradise Peir hotel is newer but a bit more bland and farther away. The rooms at PPH are a beachey theme while the DLH rooms are much more focused on Disneyland and t he characters. The DLH rooms, in general are much bigger than PPH and they have a sligind glass door that opens against a railing. The PPH rooms have windows that barely open. The DLH is a bit closer to the parks and Downtown Disney.

DLH! Closer to the parks. Better Pool. Bigger Rooms. And you can't beat the history of the place. As you walk up to the entrance on glittering pavement, past the giant Mickey, you can't but help thinking about all of the famous and iconic people who had stayed there. There's a wall near Goofy's kitchen with pictures of most of them.

Thanks :thumbsup2 ...it sounds like if I couldn't get Grand Calif. that disneyland hotel is the next best thing.....Which tower is the best to stay in and the closest to get to the parks.... :woohoo: amy

I requested a Bonita Tower room with a view of the waterfall, but there was a mix-up and they gave us a Sierra Tower pool-view room. They said this was the requested tower, and I didn't argue because DH had already accepted the room assignment (not knowing what I requested) and we were already tired from traveling and the Bonita Tower did look a lot further away. (It's really not that far, but when you are exhausted, it would feel like it!)

Sierra is closest to the parks (it's right next to the giant Sorcerer's Hat) and the entrance to the pool area. The Bonita Tower is closest to the waterfall and koi pond area. It is also the furthest from the parks, but is the least requested tower and perhaps more quiet and private. The Marina Tower contains the main lobby, guest services and a couple gift shops, and is closest to the DLH parking, the smaller 'cove' pools and the laundry room.

We just spent four nights in Paradise Pier. We had a room on the 9th floor that overlooked CA and we thought it was wonderful. We'd stay there again in a minute. The room was spacious, beds were comfortable - two queens and a day bed. The bathroom was large. Decor was very nice, themed with CA paintings, sunburst mirror, lighthouse lamp and Mickey lamp.

They have a nice Lilo and Stitch brunch at PPH.

It was a very easy walk over to DTD and the parks. We could easily walk through Grand Californian and enter through the back entrance into CA.

having stayed in all 3, my first repeat will be PP. Now if money was no object I would do concierge at GC.
I would say that PP is the best value
GC is the best splurge
DH just seemed tired for the price they charge.

I love the DLH...my reasons are pretty much because its disney 24-7...when I go to disneyland I want to emerse myself in total disney..and DLH does that where the other 2 dont..I know PPH has a little more disney feel than GCH but nothing like DLH...I dont care how old it is or how worn out people think it is...I absolutely love it :lovestruc

I prefer the Disneyland Hotel but I don't think you can wrong with either choice. The Disneyland Hotel is as others say, more Disney themed but the beachey, fun theme with some Disney touches at PP is fun too. DLH has a larger pool and pool area (in fact there are two pools) that is Peter Pan/Disney themed as opposed to PP's square, boring pool that does have an awesome pool slide (very similar to BWI's without the clown face). The DLH has more dining options including Crocs Bits N Bites located right near the pool that offers some inexpensive snack bar/burger options. PP's pool bar is not open frequently during the off season. PP's rooms do have a very nice couch that makes into a very comfy daybed. The DLH's daybeds aren't as comfy, in fact my daughter generally prefers to get a rollaway when we stay at the DLH even if we do stay in a daybed room. Rollaways at the DLH incidentally are free. The DLH has some lovely landscaping and grounds as well as Koi ponds. PP is close enough however that you could easily explore the DLH grounds. DLH has a better arcade if that matters to you (it does to my 12 year old son ;) ). Distance wise, I would say that the DLH is closer but not so much that would sway me with my decision. I have stayed in the Sierra and Bonita towers at the DLH and actually prefer the Bonita because there is something so nice about walking through the waterfalls at night after a long day from the park. I would put the extra walk to the Bonita vs. Sierra about one minute, maybe two. PP is usually cheaper and with that savings I would really recommend a theme park view at PP. It is worth it and just so much fun to see DCA. If you do get a theme park view, take binoculars if you have them. My son had so much fun looking through those into DCA. Good luck with your choice!

I loved the DLH . We took pictures of every Disney touch in the room , from the bathroom fixtures to ever ride that is on the bedspread fabric, it is a magical place!

I can't compare the two, but I was very impressed with my stay at PPH. The walk to the parks was a breeze, especially into DCA when we used the GCH entry. We had an excellent view of DCA. Customer service was wonderful.

Thanks for all the great replies.. :thanks: it sounds like you can't go wrong wiht the DLH or PPH...I love reading all about the disneyland resorts...so if any one has any more great info...keep it coming... :sunny: amy
