Disneyland Hotel…tell me about it

Are deluxe rooms worth it?
Is the hotel overall worth it?
What are perks not mentioned on the DLP website?

Over priced, and not worth it.

All of the onsite hotels have the same perks. All onsite hotel guests get early entry. All the onsite hotels have meal plans, breakfast buffets. All of the onsite hotels are walkable to the parks and there are also free shuttle to each hotel. All of the onsite hotels have luggage storage and a gift shop.

I have stayed at Disneyland Hotel before the refurb, at Santa Fe hotel twice and once at Sequoia Lodge.

Worth it is extremely subjective and based on what your plans are.
I know I spend most of my days in the parks, so I need a place that is clean, has a shower and a bed. I do not really care for decor or extra amenites. I do enjoy larger rooms, but they are not necessary. So, I usually go for the cheapest room available.
That said... I am going to stay here in January, for the cheapest price possible, but that's just because I want to have stayed at all hotels.

Most of the exclusive perks of the Disneyland Hotel are gone / available to the general public.
The remaining exclusive perks are:
- Proximity to the parks
- Kids Club
- Private Princess Meet & Greets.
- La Table de Lumière (but as you said you have a picky eater in another thread, this might not be the restaurant for you)

The hotel is recently refurbished, rooms are large and luxurious. It has a pool, a spa, a gym, etc. You are also paying for this, whether you use it or not.

If you want some luxury and some space, but also want to save some money, go for the Marvel hotel.

Here are some threads from after the reopening

I've stayed at least once in all hotels at DLP, except the Disneyland Hotel. I have never managed to justify the price.

But I am a DVC member, I have finally stayed using points at the Grand Floridian, which is very similar: same Victorian Disney inspiration, but after the refurb the DL hotel is more princessy.

Personally, even using DVC points I am not in a rush to stay there again soon and probably I'll never stay at the DL hotel

Do you stay at the Grand Floridian and think it is worth it? If yes, then you'll probably like the Disneyland Hotel.

I believe that the Disneyland Hotel has its own private entrance into the parks, and the line is much shorter to get in.

Thats not correct. I stayed at Disneyland hotel before the refurb, in 2016. The standard rooms exit the hotel at street level and enter the parks through the normal entrance gates. The Club Level, Concierge guests have an elevator direct from the Concierge floor down to street level and then they enter the parks through the normal entrance gates.

Okay. I got confused because on the first page in the resort guide it says that it has a 'dedicated entrance to Disneyland Park'. Perhaps something was lost in translation.

Thats an urban myth thats been circulating for years and its basically PR word salad. I saw it being mentioned when I was researching my 2016 trip. I asked in the hotel and was told that it means the lift from concierge level down to street level.

It could also have been confused with the shareholders lounge called Salon Mickey which is located at the entrance gate. Shareholders do a private entrance through Salon Mickey.

I would say that it's "worth it" if it's important to you that you stay in the Disney bubble for the entirety of your vacation. If you don't mind walking an extra 10 minutes and cross a busy intersection, I would stay at the Westin, which is a gorgeous property for less than half the price of DLH. You can even get a room with a view of DCA.

This is the Disneyland Paris section and we are talking about Disneyland Hotel at Disneyland Paris

There is a dedicated entrance for Disneyland Hotel guests in the morning. It closes sometimes in the afternoon, but by then the lines are shorter anyway. It is one entrance so, how much of a perk it is when the entire hotel is getting in at the same time, that is debatable 😉

When you leave the Disneyland Hotel, there are several entrance gates on your right. The Disneyland Hotel guest line is the one most to your left.

I swear I have seen a similar sign at the gate for people with handicapped passes. I will try to remember to check on my next visit later this month (going to stay at the Disneyland Hotel for the first time!). Maybe they use that one in the afternoon?

Am I dreaming or there is a dedicated entry for Custle Club guests?
They indeed have a dedicated elevator to bring them down to ground level at gates.

I don't think club level guests are allowed to walk stairs 😉

As soon as I win the jackpot I will stay club level at DLH to investigate the mysterious elevator. I think it takes you up to the lounge.

The elevator takes you to the Castle Club check in area, if I remember correctly. But then you have to walk to the lounge - the horror! 😜

We really enjoyed staying in the Disneyland Hotel. We had a park view room and the weather was chilly, so being able to watch the fireworks from our room was an additional perk.

Yet another post with old incorrect information.

@Karin1984 - thanks for correcting. Here's another pict of the actual gate.

Concierge guests can enter through the normal entrance gates but we found it faster and more convenient to leave that area and use the dedicated hotel guest entrance. At park opening, long lines would already be formed that stretched past the elevator and we didn't want to cut them. And then you are swimming upstream against the crowds to exit that area to get to the dedicated entrance or to go to the other park. So really, the elevator isn't so much a perk at that hour. Where the elevator came in handy was at the end of the day, as it was a short cut to get back to our room.

Shareholder access? Tell me more about this please. How do you prove it and where is Salon Mickey?

Don't get your hopes up - it's a legacy benefit for people who used to be shareholders in the old EuroDisney SCA holding company back in the day. These shares were bought back by Disney when they fully assumed 100% control of the parks in 2017, so you can no longer buy or trade them, but some of the old benefits still are available for those who held them at the time the Shareholders Club finally closed.

Do you know if Disney had that in other locations? I own a bit of Disney.
