Disneyland Halloween Half Marathon Weekend 2024

As you just noted, lots of stuff gets bought up and put on eBay by resellers. I’ve seen so many people fill shopping baskets with every size of clothing while they are putting up eBay listings. If Disney is not preventing resellers from buying up all the merch, then you shouldn’t feel bad about buying what you want. Plus, should people who can’t complete the challenge have to return their merch?
Oh yeah I completely know what your saying, I’m not sure how it is out at DL as this is my first race there(I’ve done 8 at DW) and the expo is always packed with non race participants with baskets full of stuff just looking to flip it.

If anything it is worse at DL. At least it was for the first races back in Jan.

Great, I'm staying at the DL hotel where the expo is so hopefully I'll be there early, I preordered the race hoodie already but really want the t shirt that will have the haunted mansion characters on it, if its anything like WDW those will go first as the ones with Figment and Stitch were gone before they even let non Club Run Disney people in.

FYI if it is set up like January, pre-purchased pickup was in the main expo area near the t-shirt pick-up and not in the rD merch area like at WDW. I was able to wait in the early entry Platinum line, get in and shop, and still had to wait about 15 minutes for the expo to open to get my pre-purchased stuff.

One other thing that people should keep in mind. Inaugural event race merchandise can fly off the shelves at Disneyland.

In 2013 for the first Dumbo, all the Dumbo stuff was gone faster than the 2022 Marathon Weekend for WDW 50 and 2023 30th Anniversary Marathon stuff went.

I think between the first Halloween race weekend and the popularity of at least 3 of the 4 race themes, I'm expecting official race merchandise to be picked over by early afternoon on Thursday. Although perhaps I'm just expecting that so I cannot be disappointed if nothing is available since I will not be at Disneyland until 2:00pm or so.

My SIL and I talk about this all the time - we wish they had people show their bibs or proof of signup for the races to shop for the pre-race days and only on the last day let anyone else in - maybe would limit how much actually sells out! Or the 5k would sell out even quicker for that proof of entry lol. Either way I’m hoping the few things I want are still stocked by Friday afternoon - fingers crossed!

A big part of the problem is the way they do their limits—it’s 2 per SKU and the SKUs are by size, so 1 person can get at least a dozen of each clothing item (more if it goes beyond XXL) If they’d limit it by actual item, the flippers wouldn’t be able to score so much. But Disney gets the same amount of money either way, so they don’t seem to care.

Agreed. Preorder is nice and all, but the two main drawbacks are no discount for AP/MagicKey/Disney Visa and that you have no idea what the merchandise you are preordering will look like. And even then some of the merchandise is not available such as the I did it shirts.

Less than a week until race time! For packet pick-up, it mentions "Your Expo Check-in Pass is required to pick up your bib for each event in which you are participating." Likewise, it says to show your check-in pass to get $10 parking for the expo. Did we get the expo check-in pass somewhere? Just searched my email and couldn't find anything.

Heads up if you aren’t checking the weather. Anaheim is now under an excessive heat watch until Friday. Not the biggest surprise considering we’re talking about SoCal this time of year. And we should be done well before the worst of the heat. But still remember to hydrate. 2017 was bad with this heat but this looks at least like it won’t last the whole weekend.

It will show up in the runDisney account in the next day or two. I suspect with today being a holiday it will be tomorrow

I came here to see what people are saying about this. I’m curious if they will do anything for the races— expedited starts, course cutting, etc. It’s going to be a rough one.

I wonder how course cutting would work for the half, since a lot of it’s out on city streets and only certain ones are closed

They probably will roll the start out faster. Though considering Disneyland already goes pretty fast. I’m not sure how much faster they can speed it up. Unlike FL which can take an hour they got it out in Jan in under an hour.

They might also bump the start by a few minutes if they feel they need it.

Course shortening could happen. It happened at 2017 DL 1/2 and 2020 WDW Marathon. Usually in my experience with races that do this it’s usually medical making the call.

It’s unlikely we’ll get a full black flag. Meaning the race ceases entirely and they start figuring out how to get people back. But it’s not zero. Peachtree had to do it this past 4th of July. But also it’s Peachtree. And I love it but it’s Atlanta on the 4th of July.

More than likely if they are worried about it in the later races we might get what’s technically an unofficial black flag. Where they shorten the course for runners who haven’t met a certain point. They cut Angels in 2017 for a chunk of people. If they cut it short I expect it either there since that’s the only real option they have without suddenly taking over ever more roads.

Angels. They’ll cut Angels if they have to cut it. Like I said above that’s where they cut it in 2017. I was in one of the last group of runners to make Angels. By the time we came out I turned around and could see a barrage of runners being turned to go around it. It and everyone going to the shady spot on the sidewalk from that year always stuck with me. And it’s the only real option they have.

So maybe something to keep in mind if you’re in a back corral and really wanting to make Angels. You might have to pick between it and something else,

Though if it happens this weekend this will make the fourth race I’ve started and had it be shortened at some point: 2017 DL (made the cut off), 2020 Marathon (pulled myself well before they called it), and 2023 MCM (missed the cut off)

With the cycle I’m not as worried about missing the cutoff if it happens. Because I go zoom on that thing even when it’s hot out. (No really I do an 8-9 min mile on hills in this thing.)

Also keep meaning to say this but if you were at Jan weekend. I won’t be in my chair this time. I’ll be in this.

Feel free to say hi if you see me on the course or around. I’m going to post the same spiel I did last time about general safety etiquette when it comes to wheels. But probably won’t for another day or two.

I don't have POT for this race - how much later does the last corral start typically? To clarify, in 2017 did they shorten the route by cutting out Angel Stadium?

On a different note the running guide is unclear - if we're taking rideshare in what's the best place for drop-off on race day?
