Well, DH and I just completed our very 1st half marathon at WDW this past weekend. What an amazing experience. We decided that we are going after our Coast to Coast medal this year, so we will be heading to Disneyland for half marathon weekend, Sept 2-4, 2011.

I'm so excited that I have already booked the Disneyland Hotel for 5 nights...although, we will probably end up staying somewhere close off property and renting a car for flexibility. Trying to find a good neighbor close by hotel-any suggestions? A package isn't a concern for us, as DH works at WDW.

I spent many years as a child living in southern California. Since moving out of the area, I have been back to DL only once, and that was 5 years ago. We live near Orlando, so we get to WDW often. I am not very familiar with the Disneyland area, so any local help is most appreciated.

We will be making this trip without our DD, as school is in session here, and we want to spend a few extra days out there. We are already taking her out of school for a few days in Oct to go on the Disney Dream.

Now let the planning begin...

Yay for you! I did the DL half last year, the Princess next month and the DL half again this year. Last year we were supposed to stay with a friend, but after we arrived in Anaheim that fell through :( We ended up staying at the Super 8 and was so pleased with the hotel and location to the START line of the Half. It is literally a hop, skip and jump away - especially if you are in one of the back corrals. The GC is also next to the start if you want to splurge. Another local hotel I like is the Dessert Inn which is right across from the main gates of the park. I am not sure if they do shuttle service for the half cause it will be a bit of a walk if not. Its a great stay for going to the park, however. Good luck this year!

Thanks for the info. After reading a lot on DISboards lately, I just booked the HoJo Plaza resort. Based on your comments, I'm sure it's a hike from the resort to the start line, however, the rest of the 4 days we are there it seems to be super convenient for us. We are actually renting a car as well, just to be able to have some flexibility. We can always use the walk to the start as our warmup, take a shuttle, or even drive somewhere if it makes sense. Now to find flights...
Can't wait to head out to complete our coast to coast challenge for the year. I think we will also be doing the Wine and Dine half later in Sept back here at WDW. Good luck in the Princess!
