Disneyland Half Marathon 2024

It is also my understanding that DL is much more loose about putting up reservations. It doesn't appear to be totally automated, based on what we're all seeing. In past years, I've seen DL reservations appear sold out, only to show up days or weeks later with full availability, indicating someone forgot to hit a button at the right time. I just plan to periodically check back on everything.

I got Napoli at 4:15 Saturday, thanks for the open table tip they had a bit more openings than Disney Dining. I figure thats a good place to carb load- even if it isn't a FULL marathon. Sunday I'll try and get Goofy's Kitchen around 9:00 my kids will like that.

As for Trader Sams, I remember we went last year around Christmastime and we were able to walk up and get a seat- but outdoors. I know inside is very small and I think the site even says they don't guarantee indoor seat even with a rez, but I would think outside shouldn't be a problem, maybe just have a little wait.

It's going to be super hard to determine a place for pre-race meetups with nobody having done this location for staging/start before. I can bring a sign similar to what we use at WDW and hope for the best for the 5K. Once we've seen it, I'm guessing we'll have a better idea for the subsequent races.

Not a huge expert on DD but I seem to recall Tortilla Joe's having a gigantic outdoor space. Just to toss something out there.
I’m a magic key holder, I’d recommend the patios at Tortilla Joes or Splitsville. They are both very casual with large patios.

Oh that brings back memories. We got hit by the Santa Ana winds during the 2014 Avengers Half. At one point the group I was in had to avoid a road barricade tumbling across the road.
That was my first race. Great memories. The dust storm along the Santa Ana River Trail wasn't fun though. Hard on the contact lenses. At least they cleaned up the homeless camps. All the mile markers were blown over. It was fun seeing people laying on the ground to take selfies with them. Growing up in Orange County, Santa Anas weren't anything new to me, but that day was something else. Never tried to run into 45-60 mph winds before. It was also in November which is a bit unusual.

Normally I would also say either of those patios would be great, but we’re talking January in So Cal. I’m local and let me tell you, sometimes January is freezing (like this past January). At least at Splitsville the patio is covered in case of rain and with heaters, but Splitsville also has a huge seating area upstairs. Our winter weather is a crapshoot for sure, but an inside option might be wise just in case. 🥶🥶

Is Plaza Inn one of the restaurants that doesn’t drop all their reservations right away? Or did they really all get taken within seconds?

Man it is crazy... I could get Storytellers cafe before 7 am pacific time again. They really do open the times up at different times. I got 11:30 reservation. So hopefully that will be enough time to make it back to my hotel shower and change. But not enough time where I am just standing around wait to eat. It is a delicate balance. Lol.

Still sad about world of color not going... we were going to that dessert party on Sunday.

Complete closeout on Trader Sam's for Sunday but, based on the interest to my last post, I did get a Napa Rose reservation for 6 at 5:30 pm.

Let me if you'd be interested in having a celebratory group meal at that time!

I"m still waiting on the tour, but it's stuck on the 7th. As I look at the menus of the QS places, their holiday offering is thru January 7th, so there's a clue. I just hope the tours aren't put on hold until the Christmas decorations come down.

I checked every 30 min for Plaza openings starting at 6am ET but no luck, and yup- seemed to be gone in seconds for me too. Feeling better about having Goofy as a backup though.

Now my next big thing is waiting for when Great Maple reservations open up at Pixar Place Hotel I am staying at.... I saw a youtube video that shows the walls are down and the restaurant looks fully ready to open any day now! My son loves maple syrup so he is very excited about that restaurant. Lol. We will be replacing Goofys kitchen with Great Maple, but wanted to have something just incase. After that we will be done with reservations and just do quick service meals and snacks.

This is our line up for reservations:
Thursday: Traders Sam's 5:35 pm (just for my mom since she is flying in earlier than us), we will be coming in 7pm...
Friday: Traders Sam's 2:50 pm (everyone will be here for that one)
Saturday: Goofy Kitchens 5pm (Hopefully Change to Great Maple Kitchen)
Sunday: Storytellers Café Brunch 11:30 am
Monday: No reservations leaving :(

What did everyone else get?

Also a random thought do we only have one night time show the weekend we will be there?? Fireworks and that is it, right? No World of Color and Fantasmic they are still fixing.... that sucks.

Do you think the entire day would sellout in seconds though? I assumed breakfast would be hard to get but it seems sus that not a single lunch or dinner popped up even for a few seconds. Makes me think maybe they weren’t released yet? Hopefully that’s the case. I’m going to try for it again tomorrow and if I can’t get it I’ll just do Carnation Cafe and Goofys for the character meal.

What's up with Wine Country Trattoria being full for dinner on Saturday? Thursday, Friday, Sunday, the Saturday prior all still have plenty of availability. What's going on with 10k Saturday night?

Could be a VIP event or buy-out?
