Disneyland Half Marathon 2024

WAFDL: Now that's it's spring, and this weather should be getting warmer (sorry anyone living west of The Mississippi), do you have any organized races to start the season?

Springtime Surprise challenge for me and then I've got nothing after that. I promised my physical therapist that I wouldn't enter anything after SS without his approval. We rushed my recovery from Dopey a little bit because of Springtime and he wants me to have a good recovery without the pressure of another race on the calendar this time.

In my head, I'm eyeing a 10K mid-June or the beginning of July, but I'm going to patient (well, as patient as I can be) with the process.

Good morning! It's Wednesday, and that means another episode of The Mandalorian

WAFDL: Now that's it's spring, and this weather should be getting warmer (sorry anyone living west of The Mississippi), do you have any organized races to start the season? I'll count Springtime Surprise next weekend.

My DW is running The Broad Street 10 Miler iin Philadelphia at the end of this month. She loves that race! Straight shot down Broad Street, and only 4 turns in the entire course. After that, maybe run on the treadmill or early mornings as the weather holds up.
I'm running Broad Street too! A bunch of Dis'ers are! It's less of a straight shot than it used to be... but I haven't seen the map for this year.

I'm not sure what the Broad Street map will look like, but it being mostly straight for the first 9 miles, and ever so slightly downhill, is what makes the race so attractive to my wife. Just that set of turns around City Hall, but it's not bad.

WAFDL: The next races I have on the calendar are Wine & Dine weekend (doing all three races). Then Dopey in January and the DL half. God I hope my body survives this. 🤣

It's softball season for me so running kind of takes a back seat until later this summer. I still go out and do short 3-milers occasionally, but most of my conditioning is for softball games and tournaments.

WAFDL: just did both Cherry Blossoms, and have the National Women’s Half the first weekend in May. I’m still crossing my fingers for a May jaw surgery date, which will put me out for about 8 weeks, but if that falls through I’ll look for other half options in the area/Oregon when I visit a friend just for funsies.

WAFDL: Springtime Surprise up next for me. 5k and 10 miler. I don’t have a lot planned atm. I’ve mentioned it before but I just got out of an in hindsight somewhat toxic trainer. And my new one were still learning to navigate each other.

So we have some stuff planned but not a lot

I’m registered for the Missoula 1/2 in June on the contingent I come out of the 10 miler okay. And then the Marine Corps Marathon in the fall.

Probably other stuff will get added but it’s way too soon to know what

WAFDL: In May I have Colfax 5k and Half marathon so I get a challenge medal. Then I am doing the biggest 10k BolderBoulder! Should be fun. I love not training for marathon's any more the longest run my trainer has me doing is 16 miles. I am trying to get a PR and slowly get faster to get a POT for next year when I try for my first Doopy.
