~ Can you walk from the GC to the downtown Disney area for shopping?
~ Is the EL Capitain theatre there as well?
~ Do they have a trundle bed in the rooms a la Polynesian at WDW?
~ Is the Fantasmic Balcony seating worth it?
~ WEather / packing tips for June?

Thanks for these and any other tips...

I don't have the answers to all your ?'s but the GC is in DTD.

Don't know what the El Capitain theatre is but there is a movie theatre in DTD.

Weather in June should be warm. I wouldn't bring too many warm clothes. Maybe a long t-shirt for night

1. Yes. The GC is conected to downtown Disney. They share some of the buildings. Many of the GC rooms are right above the shops.
2. No. The Theater is probably a 25-40 drive.
3. I don't know of any but they may. I have heard they supply sleeping bags for little ones though.
4. I have never done it but friends said the desserts were fine but the balconey was corwded. I have been on the bacloney during the day. It is small though the view is good. I prefer to be at ground level and up at the front, close to the action. The balcony is farther away.
5. Be prepared for it to be warm to hot though not humid (it is a bit humid once in a while and not like back east). You may need a long sleeve shirt or sweater in the late evening.

Though you haven't grown up on Disneyland, I recommend seeing the fireworks from the middle of Main St between the Plaza Resaurant and the Plaza Inn or maybe a hair closer to the castle.

Well, I will be taking my first trip to DL next month too. I can really answer only one of your questions. You can walk from the GC to DTD.

My sister in law lives in Santa Monica (close, but not real close) and she said they have this phenomena there called May/June gloom. In the morning, it's chilly and a bit foggy and then it burns off by around 11:00. She said, it's best to dress in layers. A hoodie over a t-shirt and shorts is usually fine for early June. She said you usually need the hoodie again as soon as the sun goes down. Then again, she's only about 1/2 mile in from the ocean front, so that may be the cause of the fog and chillyness. This may not be the case for Anaheim.

So, I'm just bringing an extra lightweight jacket for both me and my daughter!

Yep, I've seen this, too. We used to call it "morning haze" and wait for it to "burn off." By 10 or 11 it usually does. In June, I'd say it would be shorts and t-shirt weather, with a jacket for early morning and night. Some June nights can actually get cooler, and jeans in a locker aren't a bad idea.

You definitely need a sweater and maybe long pants for early morning and evening. It will be hot in June but not like Orlando!!! Plus, we don't have humidity in California!! :)

Everything at Disneyland Resort is within walking distance of each other, not like in Florida where you need a car (or bus or monorail or boat) to get anywhere. So you can walk to DTD from the GCH -- it's about 3 steps away!

Some of the rooms at the GCH have a queen bed and bunk beds and under the bottom bunk is a trundle bed. I haven't experienced it myself, but apparently the bunk beds are short -- about 5 ft, so meant for children only.

El Capitan is in LA. If you're planning on seeing a movie there get reservations first. Every time I have been there have been people upset that the movies are sold out. I think you can occasionally get tickets for a late show the day of, but usually they are sold well in advance.

Thanks for all the great info and advice- one more....
has anyone eaten at Storytellers in the CG? Is it really upscale? we have a 12 and an 8 year old with us- Basically we're looking for a meal outside of the parks on the first night-
Thanks again and again!

Storytellers is a great place to eat, particularly if you want a nice but not upscale place. It is nicer than Outback or Black Angus but not anything where you have to dress up, though you can and still feel okay.

We're also a BIG WDW family but I have to admit I LOVE DL. It's very different... from WDW, very compact and walkable. We went with DH who was on business in Anaheim and DS (he was 6) had an awesome time. Not sure if just the two of us would have had such an easy time at WDW.
We're going back in November!
Don't miss the California River Rapids or the PBJ Breakfast Pizza at Goofy's Kitchen.

Hi there,

Everyone's pretty much answered your questions. I just wanted to add that the El Capitan theater is on Hollywood Blvd, right across the street from the Mann's Chinese Theater & Kodak Theater complex (where they have the Academy Awards.)
