Disneyland fans right about Disneyland execs greed

Disagree. First, I agree with Kittyskyfish. But beyond that, Disney is a corporation with investors. If you invested in my company, you would not be happy if the company was not making the most of your investment. If they said "Well, we aren't going to increase our price, because a few people might not be able to afford it", investors would shy away. They need the investor. When greed comes about, they aren't talking about just the big guns, but all the little investors too. Why is no one complaining about the new Tesla prices? Shouldn't everyone be able to afford a Tesla?

We're doing the same thing this year. We bought Deluxe AP's (at the old rate) and will get two yearly trips out of them.
We end up saving $400+ and that doesn't include the discounts on food and junk.
Now at the new rate I'm not so sure it makes sense for us. The savings will be much smaller and we have to take into account the fact that we have no early morning entry with AP's.

This was us this last year. We saved several hundred dollars by buying the passes at the $499 level, activating them in November for a 5 day trip, knowing we'd do another 5 day trip this year. It actually saved us money....and that's if we just did 5 day trips. But guess what - that first 5 day trip turned into 7 days, which was awesome. Then we went back for Dapper Days and stayed at DLH, which sorta seemed like a free trip for tickets. Then 3 weeks later, some friends drove out to CA from TN and said they wanted to go to DL, so we went with them. We then went in mid-June for a few days while going to a friends wedding, and then two weeks later the wife and kids went while I was in SoCal on business. Add that to next month's 5 day trip which will probably be another 7 day trip, and that pass was well worth it. All BEFORE the discounts that come with it.

If we were to do it again at these prices, we would technically LOSE on two different 5 day trips. We'd HAVE to come down again inbetween trips to make it worth it. So we'll be hard pressed to do the AP again, much to my chagrin.

Cost for 2 adult and 2 child 5-day park hoppers (at current prices) $1228.
Cost for 4 Deluxe APs is $2396.

$1228 X 2 years = $2456. And that would assume the price of the 5-day hoppers didn't increase from one year to the next, which they always do.

The example I gave was with current prices. A Deluxe AP is still cheaper than buying 5-day passes 2-years in a row. It used to be the same as buying 3-day passes 2-years in a row though.

Disney is basically playing a game of, how much is to much. When will sales go down? Notice how the Day Ticket prices didn't change? Notice how they have been asking guests about seasonal price structures?
During the last price increase APH's continued to upgrade and pay the higher prices, so here comes the price increase.

The only thing that irk's me is, what have they done with the increase in revenue? There hasn't been a new attraction at Disneyland in 20 years. Sure there have been updates to attractions and new shows, but if crowds were a reason then adding additional attractions would spread out the crowds even more. Star Wars Land will help, but that is a good 5 years away.

Imagine what the prices will be like in 2020.

Universal and all local theme parks should use this opportunity to grab more visitors by offering a much lower AP.

Day ticket prices didn't increase because they are used currently. Old pricing of APs won't phase out for 18 mos. There are a LOT of vouchers out that will be used until the end of 2016. So, it will take until 2017 to phase out the ld pricing of APs. They know how it works, so to get it converted, they know it has to start now and will take until 2017, and the plan to open SWL in the 2018 time frame all works together.

Cars Land? The two sides are under the same revenue base.

Rumor is SWL is more like 2018 than 2020.
