So it looks like DVC owners get a $20 discount on Certain APs at Disneyland. Does anyone know if DVC ownership confers eligibility for California resident passes like it does in Florida? I assume no?

I cannot speak for California, but DVC membership does NOT give status for Florida resident passes.

DVC ownership does not give you access to CA resident passes, just as it does not in FL.

In FL, DVC qualifies for only the Gold AP, and only due to DVC status. No status as resident is given. In fact, contracts specifically say you are not a resident.

No. The Southern California AP’s are restricted to certain zip codes.

Members also get the discount on Platinum and Platinum Plus.

So to be clear - no access to SoCal passes are made for DVC Blue Card members, you simply get $20 off the Signature, Plus, and Deluxe? I have seen nothing indicating a discount off of Flex.

That’s correct. They are stingy at DL, probably because of the small number of DVC rooms. The good news is they are more liberal with the food and merchandise discounts. It’s covers almost everywhere but only 10%.

Correct. As a SoCal DVC Blue Card member and Disneyland Flex AP holder, I wish there were better discounts! But it is what it is and I'm glad for the 10% discount on dining and merch.

When asking around at DLR, I'm told the decision is more closely tied to the overrun of AP holders rather than the low number of DVC rooms. DLR figures they already have more than enough AP guests on any given day ... no need to further feed that problem. DLR remains a huge draw for the locals!

Thus, I wouldn't expect more generous, long-term, AP discounts offered to DVC members when the new DVC tower opens. :(

I think that sounds more like something just said to give some sort of answer to a question they are tired of. A lot of VGC owners already qualify for other types of resident passes there. I don't think the DVC AP's are about adding AP's at either WDW or DL but are instead about giving a perk to DVC owners. At WDW that AP perk aligns closely with FL residents. There are fewer DVC owners on the west coast and they just don't give a shxx about matching up a discounted AP for DL.

I think I'm tired of the whole line of an AP "problem" at DL. They've increased the prices tremendously and if they need to do more then just do it and stop whining about the number of AP holders they "have to deal with". Thing is - they do make money off those AP holders so again I wish they'd stop whining about it and using it as a ridiculous excuse or make more changes than they already have.
