Disneyland Divas: Working out, getting healthy and thin in 2010!!

Hi Gals! Congratulaions to all of you that are staying focused and continuing to lose weight. Cristabel, Sarah, and Wendy! You gals rock and you truly inspire me to stay in the game. I feel like I have been away forever! So much is going on, I can't even keep my mind straight on any one thing right now. I feel like I have ADD!

Not sure if I told you, but about 2 months ago I got involved in a study at our local children's hospital with my youngest son. It is about helping families lose weight and maintain it for an extended period of time. We had to commit to a two year time frame. It is really comprehensive and involves whole body scans, and evaluating BMI etc. My primary concern was my son and his completely rigid eating habits of basically all carbs, a little protein and 0 fruits or vegetables, except that once a week or so he will eat a small piece of apple if I insist, and threaten him. They utilize a stop light system to help kids understand what foods they should eat as much as they want(green), eat with caution(yellow), and eat seldom(red). Yes, my son's entire repetoire of foods is red! I am so worried for him! I can't get him to even consider trying anything new. I feel like he needs professional therapy to learn to eat and be flexible. He literally only eats macaroni and cheese, top ramen, peanut butter sandwhich, waffles, cream cheese, wheat thins, Rice Chex cereal. That is it. And only if prepared a certain way, like top ramen has to be done in the microwave for 3 minutes and then removed from the broth, so the noodles are chompy. If they are not chompy he won't eat them. It is such a strange thing. It sort of sounds like he is just a spoiled rotten child, but it is so far beyond that. Anyhow, don't know why I felt the need to share that but it is really consuming my energies right now, and my own plan has had to take second stage because I have to participate in this new plan, which is more counting calories. I much prefer my old points though! I am continuing to lose weight though and that is what matters the most.

Well, my next commitment is getting back on the excercise routine again. So hard to get back to once you have lost it!

I'm falling asleep at the keyboard, so will say good night!

Hope everyone has a great week! Are you are 100 yet, Sarah? I couldn't even imagine!!

Wendy, maintaining is definitely better than gaining! And 30 pounds, that's GREAT!! And Cristabel, you're doing great! Better to get the eating habits good now instead of waiting until your older... like some of us!

Tracey, 2 years?? I can't stay motivated for 2 months, or even 2 days sometimes! It should be worth it though, especially if you can get your son to buy in.

Tina, get back on track, girl! Your Sharks won, now hopefully my Coyotes will win Tuesday night. Unfortunately that means they may face each other in the next round... GO COYOTES!!!

I'm down about 3.5 more, only 1.5 to 15, which is half of my goal. I've lost and gained this 30 pounds so many times!! This time is needs to stay gone!!

Go Sharks!!!!!!!
I spent the weekend in the mountains, and I went on a couple of hikes. Last year, the hiking was killing me, but this time I was feeling great! My super-sporty friend even commented on it, so I am now feeling motivated to get off my big butt and get exercising. My eating habits have gotten pretty good, so the exercising is the missing piece for me.

Sarah, Crista, Stacie, Wendy~great job on the losses girls! Let's keep it up. I'd really like to be able to wear a swim suit this summer without being totally horrified with myself.

Thanks for posting this Tracey. That is really great that you are participating in this program with your son. I am really interested to hear what you learn and what works for your family. I am now working with my older son to try to get him to eat better. He won't eat fruit most of the time, only likes white bread, wants lots of carbs and will eat his broccoli and carrots at dinner only to get a dessert. I find myself using food as a reward at times and also preparing lunches and breakfasts that I know he will eat, even if they aren't the healthiest. The problem has gotten worse since we got to Switzerland, as there is so much salami, cheese and white bread here. Please let me know how you get your son to change his eating habits. I feel sure that it will only get harder as his habits get stronger, so I want to help him change now.

I am not doing too great on my program. Vacations and travel keep me from being focused and I am not doing enough cardio. I am not happy with the fit of my old spring clothes...just a bit snug everywhere. All the little bad habits are adding up, unfortunately.

Congrats to all who are on program!

And for any lurkers who are in need of a kick in the you know what to recommit, here is your KICK IN THE REAR!! (I gave one to myself as well)

Funny you posted that. I decided to check in here for the first time in ages. I feel like I've been off track for months now, and I've gained over 20 pounds just since the ladies trip if you can believe that!! :scared1: :sad2: I doubt you'd all even recognize me.

I'm not sure what happened, I just suddenly lost all motivation and stopped caring. :confused3 But now the numbers on the scale are scaring me. I'm close to gaining back everything I ever lost and I need to do something. I went to the doctor and my blood pressure is high so it's not just about looks, I need to get healthy.

Anyway, I skimmed back and it appears you all are still doing great!! Or at least hanging in there. Good for you. :cheer2:

Hey! Would you mind me joining you guys? I really need to get this weight back off and need to get really motivated to do it. We have a gym membership and I need to start scheduling that in, but it is very intimidating to me! I have been progressing to cooking more and using less processed stuff for meals at home.

Hey Daisy! Love to have you!! October is the goal, right? But your cruise is before that...?

Our cruise is December 19th! And then the other one is June 2011. I would really like to be comfortable in a swimsuit by then!!! Nice warm weather in June.

I would definitely like to set a goal for October and to be able to walk more without as much effort.

Welcome Daisy! :cheer2:
Welcome back Beth! :cheer2:

I feel good about today. Ate well and tracked my points. Went on two long hikes, one with my son. My goal is to lose 10 to 15 pounds in next two months and to fit back into my little black dress. And also to help my family eat healthier and exercise more.

Hope everyone is have a great day. Drink your water! Get up and move! No excuses, just take action to make your life healthier, one good choice at a time.

And for the QUOTE OF THE DAY:
Commitment leads to action. Action brings your dream closer.

OK, I'm just going to continue plugging along here...

Today went ok. Did some exercise (otherwise known as a pitiful attempt at running), ate pretty well and took opportunities to walk whenever they arose.

Didn't track points, but am planning on entering those into the WW app now. Guess it's a little late if I went over.

Tomorrow have another job interview. Appreciate any left over pixie dust anyone may have. Am sticking to this job hunt, but it is getting a bit discouraging. Perhaps this time is the charm!

For the QUOTE OF THE DAY
A little more persistence, a little more effort, and what seemed hopeless failure may turn to glorious success.

Glad to see you join the group Daisy! :cheer2:

Hope everyone else is doing well. I'm on day three of being back on track. It's sooooo hard. I have all these cravings, but I am working through them. The worst part is at night, so I drink lots of liquids to fill me up (water, Crystal Light, diet soda) but of course that doesn't help me get much sleep because then I'm up running to the bathroom all night. :rotfl2:

Keep up the great work everyone!! :yay:

Great job Beth!

Funny you should mention the worse part at night. It's hard for me to. What I have done the last couple of nights is just go to bed. Hungry. And when I'm in bed I think about all the things I can eat for breakfast and that I should fall asleep soon so I can have them. Thing is, when I wake up in the morning, I'm never hungry. How can I be so hungry at night and then not be hungry at all 7 or 8 hours later?

So if you're hungry at night...just go to bed.

Hardest part of the day for me is afternoons: at lunch and after lunch, especially if I have worked out. I just want to eat and eat and then I want a sweet on top of that!

OK, I'm up and gonna take a shower and clean up nice for an interview. Thanks for the pixie dust ladies. I appreciate it!:goodvibes

Welcome Back Beth! I know you can do it!! It is funny, the hunger thing sort of passes for me, as long as I am eating enough. The Fiber One Yogurts really help me with those moments. You can have one a day for free!

Hi Jen! I know that you will get back on track and being kickin' our butts along with you! Being across the country is no excuse:)

Regarding the kids and the eating. It is hard for some. This program focuses on education and rewards. They teach the kids to read labels and be aware of their choices and how they effect their bodies. They help the kids set goals, and set up rewards. Our first week was just to write down everything we ate and bring that back with us. We earned points for that, and those points can be traded in for a reward (we are going to the park with a friend). My reward that I set for myself was a housekeeper for the day. Trust me, I'm motivated! Now we have goals of eliminating red foods and increasing green foods, while we also eliminate red activities (inactive) and increase green activity (moving). Nathan is doing great on everything except for eliminating red foods and increasing green.

Hi Daisy! Great to see you on here! Cruises huh? Where ya goin'?

Welcome back Beth! Great to see you here!

Where's Cristabel this week?

I had a good week...am down another 2.4 for a total of 97.4! only 2.6 to go to get my 100 lb mark! I hope to do it within the next 2 weeks since it is 2 weeks till my 1 year anniversary on WW! I still have some to go after that but it seems so much more doable now! One foot in front of the other! I am down about 12 lbs or so since the trip so have only been losing about 6 lbs per month but I know it slows down the closer you get to goal and I always seem to have a hard time getting fully back on plan after a trip. Also, my son has become involved in tons of sports so I spend my evenings taking him to those events instead of going to the gym like I used to be able to do! I don't think I will sign him up for anything else for a while! I am trying to do the C25K and am doing week 2 day 3 tonight with a friend of mine before going to the kindergarden parents meeting.

Glad to see this thread picking up again! Summer is just around the corner! Can you believe May 1st is 2 days away!:scared1:

Don't forget to drink that water!

Jen, I used your trick and went to bed hungry last night. Even avoiding the cookies that were left in the cabinet. :thumbsup2

Tracey, I am definitely going to try those yogurts. Thanks for the tip. :)

Sarah, I am so proud of you!! You are truly my inspiration. :worship:

Have a good healthy day ladies!! And thanks for welcoming me back everyone. :flower3: I never should've left. Support is a huge part of weight loss. I know that now that no matter whether I am doing good or bad, I need to be here. :grouphug:

Wowie Wow Wow!
If anyone told you that you would lose 100 pounds in one year, I doubt you would have believed them. You are incredible! I hope you have something really nice planned for yourself when you hit the mark. New clothes? Housecleaning? A pedicure? You deserve something really awesome! YOU ROCK!!!

So tell me, were you hungry in the morning? I'm hungry now, but I'm just going to think about that hunger eating away my fat and will rest assured that there is food for me to eat tomorrow morning when I need it.

I had that interview today for a marketing manager position in Switzerland. I liked the interviewer who was a mom with 2 little kids. She was HR and if I make it past this round, then I meet with the business manager and I think third round is in Paris with the marketing manager. Oh la la! Wish me luck.

Didn't have time to go to the gym today, so I took the opportunity to walk up a couple three hundred stairs with my little one to visit the castle while we were waiting for Max to finish after school activities. We did stop for ice cream after the walk, but I just had one scoop of lemon sorbet, so I don't think that was too bad.

Tracked my food. Stayed on points. So I'm working the program.

I wasn't hungry until around 9:30-ish which is when I usually get hungry anyway. So it wasn't like I woke up hungry. And I am so glad I didn't give in to temptation. One battle at a time...

I hope things go well with the interviews! I know it's been rough for you, getting used to certain things, and finding a job, but can I just say, your life still just sounds so fabulous and exotic. ;)

Have a good night ladies.

Had a lovely day in Thur. One of my husbands coworkers took me out for some sightseeing and we had an Ayurvedic lunch (very healthy!) and then walked around town. Very nice day. Exercise was walking around town and walking up lots of stairs.

Was pretty hungry when I got home and ate a little more than I probably should of, but still doing OK.

Hope you all have a great Friday. I'm getting ready to retire for the evening and start the weekend!

QUOTE OF THE DAY
Life is not easy for any of us. But what of that ? We must have perseverance and, above all, confidence in ourselves. We must believe that we are gifted for something, and that this thing, at whatever cost, must be attained.
