Disneyland Divas working out, getting healthy, and looking fine in '09!!

Hi Divas. :cool1:

Haven't been here in a LOOOOOOOOONG time, but I wanted to re-hitch myself to the healthy lifestyle/weight loss wagon.

I'm already back on track for eating healthier and MUCHO fewer calories the past couple of weeks. However, the exercise thing.....just haven't done anything. UGH! But you're all inspiring me, so maybe that will kick my butt into gear.

Welcome back Capri!!! :cheer2:

And great job on the exercise and healthy living Beth! :cheer2:

Sometimes when I gain weight back I try to focus on the me that is inside the extra weight and picture that person. Not sure how to explain this, but it helps me to not identify or feel comfortable with the extra pounds and to want to eat less and move more in order for that extra to "melt away" so I can get back to that skinnier person I'm visualizing inside. Do the right thing and focus on the person that is 25 pounds less and just be patient as those extra pounds disappear. You will get back to that quite rapidly and then hopefully you will have the motivation and commitment to get where you really want to be. Losing weight is not easy. It's hard and it takes work each and everyday.

As for me, not such a good day. Nico was home sick, so I didn't go out running and I did not take an opportunity to do exercises with my flexiband inside. Exercise is SO key to me feeling better energy wise. It's my top priority right now and eating less sweets and bread is a close second.

Glad this board is getting more active again as I really need the motivation. Too easy to slip into lazier habits here, especially with the cold weather, baggy clothes and abundance of carbs.

And for the QUOTE OF THE DAY:
Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it.
– Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Hello lovely ladies!

Hopefully I'll be able to post more in this thread. :goodvibes

I'm refocusing my goals, and am no longer trying to lose weight (although it would be awesome if I did), now I'm working on getting into better shape. I want to be able to jog for longer then two minutes without feeling like my heart is going to explode out of my chest...so painful.

I have regained all the weight I've lost, and I've accepted that. Being thin just isn't something my body wants. So as long as I'm healthy and in shape then I don't care what my body looks like.

So I'm ready to once again share my journey and read about your as well! :thumbsup2

Guess who's here.................
me.

I'm with Wendy on this thing. I'm embarrassed that I'm out of breath after walking three flights of stairs. I would like to lose two sizes by January because my cousin is getting married. It's going to be a challenge but I'm going to try my best. I start tomorrow! I need to do some grocery shopping but since I'm going home Friday I'll just make do with what I have right now.

Water is definitely a problem. I never drink enough! I also barely get any activity unless I'm at Disneyland, the stores or walking to class. Other than that I'm on my butt and I'm sure it's gotten bigger.

Believe me, Oprah does feel bad when she gains the weight back. Having the millions only makes it more obvious that she failed in spite of all her personal chefs and trainers and every resource possible available to her.
That's true. And looking at it that way, yikes, it seems worse for her!

I am back to food journaling too. As of this morning. lol But it does work. I did it before when I lost weight, not sure why I thought I could stop either.

:yay: Capri!!! Hurray for eating healthier!! Exercise is hard for me too. I just don't enjoy it, sorry. But I'm working on that, and I do like how I feel AFTER I've done it.
I know you can do it and you're going to look GREAT in Feb. :cheer2:

That make sense. And is actually a good idea. I liked how I felt and looked when I lost the weight and I do not want to be back to where I started. That would be devastating. So it stops now.

Sorry to hear Nico is sick. Hang in there. And keep at it the exercise!! Just tell yourself all the things you would, and have, told us! :thumbsup2 :cheer2:

Being healthy is a great goal! Truly the most important goal. I know you can do it. I hate that horrible feeling too. And being out of breath just walking my twins to school is simply unacceptable!
We both need to be healthier. I'll never be thin again either, but I can take steps to be more fit and active.

Good for you!! :cheer2: Just think how awesome it would be to run! I mean really just get out there and run. I haven't done that in gosh, 20 years. Since HS. I miss running. Or at least having that option. ;)

Hey me!!! :)
Good to see you here too!! I know you have that wedding to focus on, and I know you can do it. You should go dress shopping. Just looking, not to buy. Pick something you'd really just love to get into, and then hold that image in your head when tempted to eat something you shouldn't or skip a work out.

I think having something like that to look forward to really helps. I know it did for me. And it's not like you're saying something unattainable like I want to be a size 4 by January. You just want to look pretty and FEEL pretty in a nice dress for the wedding. That's a great goal and one I know you can do. :yay:

OH! And I'm sure since it's your cousin you'll see lots of family members there right? How cool would it be to show up looking great and blow them all away with how good you look. :thumbsup2

Hi all! Glad to see so many people here! I am still plugging away. I had set a goal for myself to try to lose 4 weeks in a row. I weighed in last night and had a great loss so that makes #3. One more week to go and then I will try to keep adding weeks on to that. I looked back over the past 6 months and was seeing a pattern that I would lose for three weeks and then gain and repeat. I need to focus through that tough week and get some momentum going!

Have a great one and I challenge you each to go drink a glass of water as soon as you read this post! I am off to do that now!

Sarah

Good for you! You cam do it. I am very down today. I am suddenly up two pounds. I have been doing cardio daily, more than ever. I've been experimenting with different meals and they are obviously too much, too salty. I've also heard tht stress makes you gain because of the cortisol and I've had a lot of stress.

Going to drink that water now. Thx

Here's to being healthy and in shape! :thumbsup2
I wouldn't be too sure what you're body wants...if you focus on eating right, exercising and being healthy, just see what happens. I'm not saying to focus on being thin, just be open to the possibility that your body may respond quite nicely to healthy living.

Welcome back Cristabel!:cheer2:

I'm sure your family will be happy to see you regardless of whether or not you have lost two sizes. Remember, you have to do this for you, for life, not just for one occasion. It's about making the right decisions day in and day out...on the days it's easy and the days it's just way too hard. It's about putting yourself first and focusing on the long term goal, even if it means really hard sacrifices in the short term. It's about understanding why we eat and dealing with the issues, not just the food. When you are truly ready to do this for yourself and to perservere even when it's hard, you will do this. But it will have to be for YOU, because you know you can do it and that you deserve it. If it takes more than two months, so be it. This is about a lifetime lifestyle change, not about a dress size for a party. Though if it helps in the short term to visualize yourself in the dress, use it! But that's just an interim tool to motivate, not an end goal.

Hmmmm....breakfast is the most important meal of the day! Got to eat well and regularly, so you don't end up starving by the end of the day. I'm thinking you're not quite yet focused on the healthy part. ;)

SARAH: Congrats on the continued healthy living!! :thumbsup2

DONNA: If you are exercising and eating right, don't worry about the weight fluctuation. I'm sure with perserverance and some tweaking on the meals, your weight will go back down.

So, for me...I did run today. Not much. Just about 1/2 hour, but I got out of the house and moved. Eating was a bit better, got some more healthy stuff consumed, even if I didn't eliminate the sweets. So it's a start. :thumbsup2

Tomorrow I'm going to be spending the day at the US Embassy trying to get that stolen passport replaced. Not fun. Hopefully it will be easier than I am expecting.

And for the QUOTE OF THE DAY

Just a quick check in. Yesterday was a great day!! I ate right, drank my water, and exercised. I exercised again today too. :cool1:

So one day at a time..........

Hope you are all doing well.

Capri, EAT BREAKFAST!!!! And no DP doesn't count as breakfast. lol

Jen, good luck with the stolen passport.

Cristabel, Jen is right, it is a life long change. Definitely. I just meant to use the dress image in the meantime. I have to use things like that for me for the short term goals. But that's what works for me. Find what works for you and go for it!!!

Later ladies.

Yea! There are so many of us here! :cheer2:

Wendy, yes, being healthy is such a tangible thing when our bodies give us feedback. Even when I don't see the scales go down, I exercise because I feel better afterward. And I know that it helps ward of disease.

Cristabel, short terms goals like that work for me too. It will be great for you because they say that after a certain amount of time, anything you do will become a habit. I've forgotten how long that is - is it a month?

"DONNA: If you are exercising and eating right, don't worry about the weight fluctuation. I'm sure with perserverance and some tweaking on the meals, your weight will go back down. "

Jen, I sure hope so. This is the craziest fluctuation ever. (up again) I really do think it's the cortisol release, which I thought I'd been working through with exercise.
Great on the run!!!!
Good luck on the passport.

Hi Capri!!

Okay, let's get your numbers a little happier!

Just a quick check in. Yesterday was a great day!! I ate right, drank my water, and exercised. I exercised again today too. :cool1:
.

Beth, good for you! I know it was a busy day for you, so good job!!!!

I am headed to the gym early today to get it out of the way. I am going to try something new - photographing everything I eat for a couple of days. Just some way to make myself accountable.

I have to do something - this gaining trend must stop!

I have two months! I really need to make the most of it. I really much prefer playing DDR on the workout mode to going to the gym. I find it SO monotonous and boring. I also hate working out in front of people. I also hate the gym music, so uninspiring. Oh and the fact I no longer have a gym membership at LA fitness won't help when I'm home. It'll be walking outside, DDR exercise mode or hiking at Placerita canyon.

That's great! No one ever said a gym is the only way to exercise. In fact, real outdoor exercise is great because your body has to reset itself all the time as you're doing something different. Just move your body!

Hey all,

Glad to hear that there is a lot of good happening here! We can do this!

Beth, I am thinking of you today! I hope you have another excellent day. One day at a time and we can get this weight off and be healthy! I am hoping to be the smallest you have ever seen me when we get together in February! What do you think? You want to be the smallest I have ever seen you? We could take a pic!

Talk to you all soon and drink that water!

Sarah

Hey girls, another good day here so far!! Exercise, water, and so far, the food is going as planned. :cool1:

Donna, sorry your frustrated with your fluctuations right now. But you know you're doing the right thing and you are healthy no matter what.

Cristabel, you can SOOOO do this!! Be strong, be tough, get mad, do what ever it takes. It's a hard time to lose weight with the holidays, but it can still be done. I have faith in you!!

Sarah, here's to being the smallest ever! :wizard:

Have a wonderful, fabulous, healthy weekend ladies!! Keep on keeping on!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Oh, and one more thing I am really struggling with now is breaking how food is so strongly associated with events and activities in my life. It's amazing how deeply certain things are ingrained in me!!

For instance, too tired to cook? Order pizza!
Going to the movie? Time for popcorn!
Doing some shopping? Grab lunch out!
Having family visit? Bake something yummy!
Family movie night? Bring out the bowls of ice cream!
Big family breakfast? Gotta have cinnamon rolls and hash brown casserole!

Know what I mean? I don't think it's just me either. I mean, as a society in general so many of our activities, events, holidays, vacations, etc are all planned around food. We come to associate one with the other automatically. At least I do. And it's tough to change that.

I was thinking of going shopping this weekend with Noelle and then I thought, uh oh, that's going to be rough! What fun is shopping without going out to lunch, even if it's just something fast??

I need to work on enjoying life and all it brings for what it is, without associating food along with it. kwim? I don't know if anyone else feels like this but it's really my biggest challenge right now. Wish me luck!! lol

Go to lunch....go to Subway! I know what you mean, though! We have very specific menus for certain occasions...it seems weird to think of those occasions without those meals. Maybe remembering all of those who go hungry on holidays would help break the hold the food has over us.

Oh, I know what you mean about popcorn at the movies. That is my favorite! Even at home, I was eating a whole bag of Pop Secret several nights a week while watching movies. I have only been to the movies once since I started on my current diet in June. I am afraid what will happen. Worst case is I will share a SMALL with DH, no butter (or whatever that scary yellow stuff they put on it is). Just say no to supersizing, who cares if it is just a dollar more for the large and you get a free refill!

Just getting ready to go out to dinner (I will not eat bread, I will not eat bread, I will not eat bread....), but first I will drink two glasses of water!;)

OK so I just had a little bit of bread. Then came home and had a Reese's (just the fun size!)
