Disneyland Divas working out, getting healthy, and looking fine in '09!!

Hi Ladies-

I sure am making all the wrong food associations here in Switzerland. Using all those coffee drinks and chocolate for comfort and grabbing a snack for entertainment. Got to break those habits before they begin.

In the US, I had established some new associations that worked: bring your own fat free popcorn to the movie theater. It's not as bad as it sounds! And you won't feel sick after you eat it. ;)

I ran this morning. And I ran like three times this week. Short runs outside, but at least I'm moving.

Hi ladies.

As I have been on this journey for about 6 months now, I thought I would share some progress pics.

The first is me at around 285...

The second is me at around 230

Sarah, OMG, you are looking fabulous girl!!!!!!!!! Wow. Amazing. You weigh less than me now. :rotfl: :cheer2: How tall are you? What's your final goal?

Keep at it hon!!!! I'm so proud of you.

Morning ladies!!! Yesterday was a sort of rough day. I was stressed and wanted to EAT! I ended up going over my daily calories by about 170, but not too terrible I guess. :confused3 Still.

Have a wonderful, healthy day! :wizard:

Sarah--

Way to go!!!:thumbsup2
You ARE fabulous!!

What an amazing accomplishment! That's like over 200 sticks of butter. Put those all on the table and get a sense of what you have lost. Incredible!:yay::yay::yay:

Thanks for posting the picture. Keep on rockin' girlfriend!!!:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Thanks Beth. I am only 5'5". I still have 80 more to go to get down to what ww says is the highest allowable for my height. I would like to lose at least 65 as I know I could comfortably stay around 165...I am not sure about 150!

And Beth, just get in some extra exersize today to get rid of those extra 170 cals! You can do it!

You guys are the best.

Oh, I know what you mean about popcorn at the movies. That is my favorite! Even at home, I was eating a whole bag of Pop Secret several nights a week while watching movies. I have only been to the movies once since I started on my current diet in June. I am afraid what will happen. Worst case is I will share a SMALL with DH, no butter (or whatever that scary yellow stuff they put on it is). Just say no to supersizing, who cares if it is just a dollar more for the large and you get a free refill!

Just getting ready to go out to dinner (I will not eat bread, I will not eat bread, I will not eat bread....), but first I will drink two glasses of water!;)

You are doing the right things - living your life but adapting. Yes!

Great on the runs, Jen!!!! I have done the "bring your own 100 cal popcorn to the theatre" also.

I'm sorry it was a rough day. But to only go over your cal by 170 on a tough day, is pretty good!!! And you're keeping track!!!!! I decided to go back to my food journal because I keep forgetting to photograph my food.

Sarah, you looked so great when we saw you. But I had never seen this old photo of you. Look how far you've come! What an inspiration. Thank you for that. I know you will keep going. We have what, four months till the trip? (the way we've been planning, it seems like it's next month). We can lose a lot in 4 months!!!! :cheer2:

Jen, I wanted to say that your earlier post was really smart. The visualization of a thin you inside. I'm using that. Thanks.

Did the gym again. Even though my scale is climbing (and I think it's from the cortisol - so much stress right now), at least I can exercise. 43 min on the cross trainer.

Great job on the exercising!:thumbsup2 It is so key for the stress. Seriously. I really think it all starts with exercising and from there eating right and having a positive attitude is SO much easier.

You know sometimes when I haven't exercised and I start again, I also gain weight. Could be that too. Just keep doing the right things and it will all fall into line. And really, if you're healthy and eating right and exercising, 1 or 2 pounds this way or that way on the scale is not so important. Healthy living is what it is all about!

I finally had a longish run today -- a little over five miles. Felt good to get out there and I feel SO much better now. All those little runs this week served their purpose to get me more fit to do a little more this weekend.

One thing I've been thinking about is that "listening to your body" is not always the right thing to do. I'm not talking about if you're having pain when you exercise or if you need water or something, but rather in terms of what/how much to eat and whether to exercise. When I'm on track, my body does generally give me good cues as to what it needs. But lately, when I've been off track, my body has been telling me that it needs coffee and sugar and doesn't want to exercise (and didn't feel all that great while exercising). It's like I need to spend some time reprogramming it now in order to get back to a better normal. When I eat badly and don't exercise, that's what my body wants (or at least what I think my body is telling me it wants).

Just a thought.

And for the QUOTE OF THE DAY:
To have that sense of one's intrinsic worth which constitutes self-respect is potentially to have everything.
Joan Didion

Sarah, we have the same goal!! I'd love to be down around 165, but that seems to far away right now. lol So for now, I'm working to get back where I was at 213. Then I'll work to get below 200, then I'll go from there. Baby steps. :thumbsup2

Jen and Donna, congrats on keeping up with the exercising. You inspire me!! :cheer2:

Hope everyone else is having a good weekend. I am so far!! Which makes me so happy because everyone is home and weekends are harder, kwim? But Noelle and I went out shopping yesterday and I was tempted to grab something unhealthy to eat, but I didn't. I did order a diet soda, so I was pleased with how the day went. :)

Ah, thanks for telling me that you've also gained when restarting your exercise. That does give me hope.

Yea on the 5 mile run!!!!!:cheer2:

Yeah, I don't think it's the body that's saying it wants those things (that you feel are not good for you), it's the mind. The tricky mind.

Have you ever given yourself whiplash exercising? I think I did it with the machines, by myself, overdoing the weight. (not by much). What is strange is that nothing hurt at the time but I noticed my neck was sore the next day. And it has gotten worse every day. Today, I can't bend it to look at the scale.

I'm gonna see the chiro but just wondered.

(btw, Switzerland, that's funny to hear it is still so quiet on Sundays - are the museums even open then?)

We were posting at the same time!

You'll do it, Beth. You inspire us!

I can only imagine how hard it is with DH and kids at home. Good for you about not eating unhealthy yesterday!!!! BTW, do you ever put lemon in your diet soda? It's suppose to help weight loss (it's my little way of turning it into a health drink - :lmao:)

:guilty: :sad2: :headache:

Sure, I do good ALL weekend only to blow it Sunday night. Darn. And I was so hoping to say I'd made it through the weekend eating right.

I did exercise today and was doing well up until this evening. I made the kids mashed potatoes, meatballs with grape jelly sauce and green beans. Nothing fancy, but it's totally my kind of food. Comfort food, kwim?

So I was weak. I ate I don't even know how many of the meatballs and two helpings of the potatoes. Notice I managed to steer clear of the green beans though!!

Now I am so angry with myself and stressed that I just want to eat more. Go figure. I told Ruben he was on dish duty because I simply had to walk away from that kitchen. I am very disappointed in myself, and now I'm afraid this is really going to show up on my weigh in on Wednesday.

I've GOT to make sure I work out, eat right and exercise tomorrow and Tuesday.
Sorry I just had to vent about how annoyed at myself I am. :sad1:

Beth, this is the place to vent about this!!

Get back on the horse. That fall was so short, you must have been riding a shetland pony. ;)

PM sent.

I made a cream cheese brownie pie this weekend and am having a hard time controlling myself around it! I have used all but 2 of my weekly allowance points and I still have 2 1/2 days till my weigh in! :scared1: Last time I made a pie I gave out slices to all my family members, but they are now all on vacation! (1 in hawaii and 2 in Cancun!) I need to make it through so I can have a chance at a loss this week! I have gum in my mouth now and a bottle of water nearby. Normally it would be ok because I would be going back to work tomorrow but now I don't know because both kids had fevers today. They seem ok now, though Kiera is losing her voice. I just don't know! Agggkkkk!

Sarah:
GET THE CREAM CHEESE BROWNIE PIE OUT OF THE HOUSE!

It will not stop calling you until you do. Give it to the neighbors. Throw it in the trash. It will do you no good at home. It will make you happy for five minutes and then make you so very sad for a lot longer. It is not your friend. It is ok if you waste this food. It will do you no good on your waistline.

Beth: Two servings of mashed potatoes and a few extra meatballs will not ruin your weekly loss. In WW these would be subtracted from your flex points. Giving up the week because you made one mistake WILL hurt your weekly loss. Do a little more exercise today and you will be fine. In weight watchers flex points are built into the program to allow for an small indulgence once a week or so. It's so needed. It just needs to be within reason. You are doing well this week!! Give yourself credit and get back on that shetland pony!

I have a question for all the mothers out there: How well do you do in terms of feeding your kids healthy food and teaching them good eating habits? I generally felt I did pretty good in the US, but am not feeling as good here. I'm reaching for the easiest stuff in the store, which is generally white bread rolls and cheese and salami. The kids don't eat the fruit or veggies I pack. And then I get them treats a lot more often now. I need some motivation and fun food ideas (that they will eat) to keep them healthy too! And now that the weather is turning cold, they are getting a lot less exercise.

I just love that Jen is here.

I'm not a mom, but I did spend a few weeks in Switzerland. I remember very hardy bread, like whole grain...? Or thin slices of dark brown, again with lots of seeds and things. Maybe a bakery would have this? Last we heard, you'd found some ex-pats somewhere, how did that go?

I wish I had read this before I ate the 3 slices of pie that I didn't have points for! Yup, you read right...3. Why can't I get a grip on this? I kept telling myself all the right things and yet I did the exact opposite! What is the matter with me?

Been there, done that many, many, many times. I wish I had an answer for you. I guess all I can say is we are human. We make mistakes. All we can do is forgive ourselves, try to learn from them, then pick up and move forward once more.

Went to the gym tonight. Only did about 40 minutes.

I weighed myself and was relieved to find out that I've only gained four pounds from my beginning weight this past summer. I was terrified it was going to be a whole lot more.
