Disneyland Divas working out, getting healthy, and looking fine in '09!!

Morning! :)

Good for this week: Exercise went well last Saturday and Sunday. Finally dared to step on the scale.

Bad for this week: Hurt knee from exercise last weekend. Didn't exercise Monday and Tuesday, pilates on Wednesday, 1.5 mile run on Thursday just to test the knee. So all and all, not what I had planned. Eating wasn't good -- not horrible, but I'm having a hard time letting go of those little treats I let slip back into my diet. I'm up 1.5 lbs.

It takes so much work just to maintain. When I lose I think I can relax a bit and enjoy. And then I slip right back. Constant...this work is just constant... :sad2:

Good luck everyone! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Hello all. Well, I am happy to report that I had a decent loss this week. It isn't looking good as far as getting to the goal I had set for myself for my birthday in 2 weeks, but it will be close as long as I stay on the right path, which I will, so I am happy with that. I think I went into this expecting the same results I had 5 years ago before children, not wanting to see that my body has changed in many ways and that it simply won't do the things it did 5 years ago...I will have to work that much harder to see results and it may be slower process than I would like....but I am also a bit more patient than I was 5 years ago and hopefully a bit more wise.

Anyway, for this weekend my mom and I are going to pick strawberries and freeze some for the winter use. We are also having Kiera's birthday party and I am making the cake! I am excited to decorate it but I doubt I will eat any. We will see. If it turns out well I will try to post a picture on the other board.

Take care all and don't forget to drink that water...yes, that means you...and me too, I haven't had much this morning so far!

I know! The thing is, our bodies are very sensitive because we're losing. So if we relax a little, like you said, our bodies just soak those calories up like a sponge.

I also question why whenever I approach a nice goal that I feel I'm allowed to eat more... I really do want to lose as much as I can before I go traveling in less than 2 weeks.

Remember, once you get to your true goal and you learn how to maintain (like, give it a month or two if you can), then you can bring in some treats.

Sorry about the knee. Are you near a pool?

Sarah! That is wonderful!!! You are doing so well. I know what you mean but all we have to go on is what our bodies will do for us now. I'm grateful that the exercise is allowing me to lose without starving.

Strawberries - perfect.

I'm going to have a glass of water now and toast you!

I did my 45 min on the elliptical and did not have any back problems today. :cheer2: I would have done more but I had an appt. If I have time tomorrow after some plans, maybe I'll do a late gym.

Keep moving everyone!

My dh and I took the kids and went to the gym tonight. When I finished my work out my dh wasn't quite done yet so I walked 3 minutes cool down and then decided I would try a run and see what happened. I put the treadmill to 4.6 mph and did a "smooth run" as otherwise my butt jiggled too much which hurt. I ran for 5 minutes! I probably could have done a bit more but my legs were starting to hurt a bit and I didn't want to risk an injury.

Soooooo...where do I need to go to find out info on the C25k? I am starting to consider it and thought I should look into what it entails.

TIA,
Sarah

Hey girls!
It has been awhile since I have posted. I haven't been in the closet eating Snickers or anything...just so you know!:lmao:

I've been doing the WW thing and loving it! I am not sure if I posted or not about my gain after Atkins...it was pretty substantial. I ended up gained about 15 pounds...while I was doing WW.:sad2: I will tell you...it is hard to stick to sensible eating when you see the scale climbing. But..I am steadily losing. So total weight loss since March (this includes my loss and gains and loss again lol) is 23 pounds.:banana:I will take it. So I am basically 20 pounds lighter than I was on the ladies only trip. I still have sooooo far to go.

****Possible TMI****
:scared1:

I am looking into breast reduction surgery. My doctor says I need to lose some more weight before they can submit it to the insurance. Insurance companies have a hard time paying out on cosmetic surgery unless it is for a medical reason and it helps to be in a healthy weight range...and it is still a gamble on whether they will pay:sad2:. So that is what I am focusing on...getting to a decent weight so I can get my surgery.

I am going to go chillax on the couch before bed!

I hope you all have a groovy weekend!

On Tuesday I walked 5 miles and on yesterday I walked 2.5 miles and had my 5th training session. The dance room had a class so we did weights. Now my arms and butt are sore but I don't have the pain in my thighs anymore :)

ETA: I weighed in today and I gained :( But lately I have not been drinking enough water, drinking too much soda and of course Aunt Flo likes to be sporadic and pop up.

YEAH!!! Your exercise is going so well. Just add on the good eating and no sodas and you WILL see results. Keep it up!!!:cool1:

So good to hear from you January!!!
GREAT JOB on Weight Watchers!!! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Ran almost 6 miles today -- took about 70 minutes. Knee feels ok. I was a little tired, but glad I go through it.

Kids are at grandparents, so I have the day to get the house in order before DH comes home from biz trip tonight. Fun, fun, fun. Just wish I wasn't feeling so lazy. :sad2:

Hi ladies!! I'm checking in. Sorry I don't have time to read back. I hope you're all staying well and healthy.

I weighed in yesterday and was still at 210!!! After a week of drink, food, and cheesecakes!!! I thought for sure I'd be back in the teens. But nope. YAY!!! :cool1:

Keep on keeping on ladies. We can all do this. :cheer2: I'll try to read back later.

January, good for you! That is excellent that you worked through the diet transition. Also a really good goal to keep you motivated (the insurance/surgery thing).

Yes we can! Yea! Beth is back!!! party:Beth, that is really really good that you didn't gain considering all the celebration food with the Vegas girls. If you jump back into your program, you'll be good to go.

So happy you're here.

I have about 9 days before I leave, so that is my big goal. I found I fit into an older dress I have and that makes me so happy. I will wear it on my trip. And I went shoe shopping today for the trip and found I was down a whole shoe size (in some styles). Big thrill there because I usually have a very hard time buying shoes due to wide feet. (even when I was thin).

My gym closes early on the weekends though, so I didn't get to workout for two days. I think I will put a dvd on and also do a little Wii work. And tomorrow I'll be at the gym.

:yay::jumping1:

Hi all. My dh brought yogurt covered pretzels into the house. I was having a really hard time with cravings today, anyway and I ended up eating a bunch of the pretzels. I did count them, though, and still have 17 flex points left for the week (I weigh in on wednesday afternoons, so not too far to go.) I have to say, I don't feel good. I haven't had that much sugar in a long time. We had my daughters birthday party today and I made her cake. It turned out really cute and I only had a very tiny piece to taste it and luckily it was all eaten at the party so none to bring home. It was a pretty day so the party turned out really well.

Gatta go check out the c25k link and no, I will not be doing the DL 5K anytime soon. But I hope you all have fun with it!

Get the yogurt pretzels out of the house (if they aren't already)! You will not miss them once they're gonna, but they will beckon you as long as they remain in vicinity.

How do I know? Well my DH brought home some Toblerone chocolate from Switzerland and I can't stop thinking about the darned stuff. Just a little here and a bit there. :headache:

Why was DH in Switzerland? Funny you should ask. You didn't ask? Well I need to tell someone about it, so bear with me. Well, DH and I have "in theory" dreamed about living in Europe at some point with our kids. He lived in France and Belgium for a couple years when he was a kid and I lived in Prague and Moscow after I graduated from college. This dream seemed difficult to reach, as we can't move without jobs and securing a job in Europe is very difficult. Unbeknownst to me, my DH has been applying for work in Europe for like over a year and he got a phone interview with a company in Switzerland. He didn't think he had a chance, as he doesn't speak German. Anyway, he got a second phone interview. And then last week they flew him to Switzerland for a third interview, where they offered him a job on the spot. Ooops! Now what do we do? It's like a dog who finally catches the car he's been chasing...now what???

It's totally ideal in a beautiful town, great schools, clean, safe and right in the middle of Europe which would be a key jumping off point for travels basically anywhere on the continent. So now it's my turn to ask my employer if I could get an international relocation and I just keep flipping back and forth on whether or not to do it. This is happening so fast. I haven't talked to many people, as I don't want to get everyone all bothered if we aren't actually going to do this. OMG. I think I need to meditate on a beach for a couple of days and let the answer come to me.

Next step is to take the plunge and talk to my employer. If they say no, it's a deal killer. But if they say YES, well then I've got to fish or cut bait.

Thanks for letting me get that off my chest.

Now in terms of fitness...I think I've been doing well. Went to pilates yesterday, have been eating better and stepped on the scale today and it said I was down a pound. Meeting with my trainer (who I haven't seen like in two months) today and should start training for the DL 1/2 marathon soon!

Later ladies...

Howdy gals! I know I have been gone for awhile but I just stopped posting cuz I went the other direction and I was really bummed and had a lot on my plate. But I am back and ready to get back on the wagon!!

Unfortunately when I started last time I was in the 155 range and wanted to lose 10 to 15 lbs from THAT point and since then I have gone UP 5 lbs. I think a big part of that is the meds my doc put me on make you gain weight which doesn't help plus I have had a LOT of stress as some of you know but luckily that has seemed to level off and he took me off those meds so hopefully I can get leveled off.

I was SO bummed because even though I only gained 5 lbs of course you ALWAYS gain it round the middle and your clothes become tight. FIGURES!!

But anyway I am working out as much as possible and trying to get my eating back on track. THAT is the hardest part. Once you get back to cheating you get addicted to all those old bad foods and it is SO hard to break that again but I am doing my best.

I am eating a small bowl of raisin brain or shreded wheat for breakfast and then I have gone back to healthy choice meals for lunch and then it is just keeping my dinners healthy and avoiding the desserts and unhealthy snacks.

Anyway I worked out 3 times last week and then again today so we shall see.

As of today I was 160.4 so hopefully I can post a loss soon!

I hope to be back on here regularly again and get back to where I was and BEYOND soon! :)

Hi Kelly, welcome back! Good for you getting back on that wagon and making good choices for your health!

Jen....WOW! Big stuff going on for you! I say go for it. How many chances like this come along and what a fantastic opportunity! At least see how it plays out with your job! Which ever way you decide to go we are there for you!

I tried to start the C25K last night...did my 5 minutes brisk walk on the treadmill after my normal 33 minutes on the eliptical thing and as I was turning up the speed to start running my back started spasming like crazy! So much for that! So I walked on the treadmill the rest of my 27 minutes but my back hurt so I could only go about 3 mph with no incline. I will try again another time...maybe after I have lost a bit more weight.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Sarah

Hi All - Just a quick drive by. I have not been running. My foot is still killing me so I called my Denver Ortho and he is sending my xrays, MRI and records out to CA. I'll find an Ortho in CA when I get back from Yosemite. I am SO BUMMED! I will probably have to start all over with running after I find out what the heck is up with my foot! And we are planning to do a lot of hiking in Yosemite but I am still determined to hike regardless...I'll just take Advil.

I did go walking for 40 min. with my sister last night although my foot hurt it did not kill me like it did the last time I ran.

So not a happy camper here at all...:sad2:

Glad everyone is doing well!

Welcome back Kelly!!:yay:

Sarah: Thanks for the encouragement. If only my family (grandparents, etc) were as encouraging. :sad2: It's very strange, but things are moving fast. I put out inquiries re. Swiss school and response within minutes. Sent request to investigate possibility to relocate to my boss, response within seconds. Property management company responded and visited my house immediately. Perhaps the "request to the universe" I put out a couple of years ago for an international move is now being answered. But am I ready? I wish I felt less confused. I'll let you know if things continue in the direction they appear to be going.

Vicki: So sorry to hear about the foot. Respect the healing process and take care of your injury. Challenge is to find other good exercises to keep your spirits up -- remember you can always fall back on swimming when all else fails. :)

Met with my PT today. He was very encouraging and said my legs looked leaner and stronger then when he saw me two months ago. So that's good! I have my new running schedule and am officially training for the DL 1/2. 5kers -- now is the time to start those 5k walking or running programs!!!

Here's a quote I chose for myself, but worthy for all to ponder:
Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage.
Nin, Anais

OMG, Jen, that is amazing!! Sounds to me like it's all coming together. I say go for it. It's an adventure. If you do it and things don't work out, oh well, you come back. If you don't try it, you will forever wonder, "What if...."

Thanks Jen and what an adventure! I say go for it! Switzerland is AMAZING! My FAV country in Europe! I hope it all works out! :)

Hi all...I am royally po'd at my dh right now. He made one of my fav dishes for dinner but instead of figuring out the points for me (which he totally knows how to do) he just put stuff in and didn't think about the consequences. He used regular pepperoni instead of turkey, he used full fat cheese and TONS of it...like 10 oz instead of 3-5 ounces. He used 2X the recipe for the dough instead of 1 1/2 like it called for! Instead of 8 points a piece it was 14!!!!!! Luckily I figured it out before I ate it but still!

Anyway, I did the first day of the C25K today. It went pretty well all things considered. I will probably do the first week for a couple weeks while trying to build up my speed. We will see how it goes.

Hope everyone is having a great day...I am off to drink some water!

Sarah

And Jen...everyone's right...if you don't go for it you will always wonder "what if" and that is no way to live your life.

Yea, down a pound!
I am with Kelly, I love Switzerland. I used to know someone who did their schooling in Switzerland. It's so beautiful and clean, what a great place for kids.
I've lived in various foreign countries and, as you remember, there's nothing like it to expand your mind. It won't be forever most likely and with the US struggling right now (the economy), you may be in the very best position over there.

But do the beach meditation.

You will be. Even though you gain in the tummy first, you also lose from their first. You are quite right about the getting used to the bad foods, but you can kick them out of your habit path, I know you can. So glad you're back.

Sarah, I can never use the incline on the treadmill. Some of us who have bad backs just can't.

:grouphug: Aw, Vicki, that is a shame. Good that you are getting the records to get to the bottom of this. You might also consider Arnica gel from the health store if you're determined to hike.

Sarah, I hope you don't mind me saying this, but I'm hearing two instances in a row of your dh sabatoging you. He may not even be consciously aware of it, but you need to get him to see it and to get on your side. Hubbies can do this for all kinds of reasons, mostly they are afraid they'll lose us once we get all slender on them. So I think sending good vibes his way and letting him know how special he is, but how much you need him to support you in this might not hurt (obviously not saying anything to him that he could miscontrue as being accusatory). In fact, if you can remember the last time he did count the WW points, just bring that up and how grateful you were... kwim?

:flower3:

Oh - me. I finally got back to the gym today. Had a doctor appt yesterday and she did not want me to go the gym yesterday. So I missed three days in a row! I was happy to get on and do 45 min on the elliptical and about 10 min of arm weights. My PT is sick (first time in a year I've known him to be sick).
