Disneyland Divas working out, getting healthy, and looking fine in '09!!

Weigh in day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I almost skipped weigh in today. Almost. But I have NEVER skipped a weigh in, not even when I gained 9 pounds after Disney. LOL So I grimaced and hopped on the scale.

Last week as you know, I was up four pounds from 214 to 218. Ouch. Now this week I am up another 1.6 pounds for 219.6. UGH! There goes my banner. :sad2:

I had planned to lose the weight from last week and then some, but that visit from my mom and several meals out with her, then Thanksgiving and Aunt Flo showing up are all working to make that very difficult.
I am definitely going in the wrong direction but that is going to change starting now!!!

Beth--congrats for stepping on that scale the day after Thanksgiving. That is an awesome feat!

I started off yesterday great with a run and a neighborhood turkey trot. And then the eating begin...from food preparation time until sleep. Oh my, my system isn't used to all this food. I just felt ILL at the end of the day. I thought maybe I was coming down with a flu, but I'm feeling much better today, so I think that it was just overeating. :headache:

I don't think I'm going to brave the scale today. Though I do commend all of you who do!

Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. And good luck to all of you who are less afraid of crowds and brave all of those Black Friday sales!

 Well, this day started out good. I walked two miles, and was drinking my water. Had a healthy breakfast of cereal and fruit.

Then the damn left over pumpkin log roll, pumpkin pie and some M&M's were calling my name. I was doing so good and then............disaster. I waited too long to eat lunch and went for the junk instead of something healthy. :sad2:

It was not even worth it. Now I feel like bad. I don't know how I am going to get back on track. :confused3 I can't even make it through one day.

Hi everyone,

I'm about to toss out the stuffing and pie so I don't have any more temptations in the house. If its in the house it just seems to call me and I can't let it just sit there. I did pretty well on the food front on the actual day, but didn't make it out to walk. I had to go over to my parents to prepare their dinner (they were not feeling well and didn't want to come over or have anyone visit so they bought a pre-packaged dinner). Then as soon as that was done I had to run home and eat our dinner. I couldn't sleep that night worrying about my parents and then woke up at 2:30am. I had to run out to shop in the moring to try and get some christmas deals. Then in the afternoon I finally was able fall asleep for a couple of hours.

Today we were able to get out of the house and went for almost a 6 mile walk so I'm feeling a little better about my activity level.

I'm both looking forward to and dreading the holidays. All my memories are tied up in holiday treats (cookies, pastries, etc) and I don't know how I'm going to pass up all the goodies for an entire month. I just don't want to lose all the progress I've made. But when the treat are sitting there, I have NO willpower to pass them by.

Guess I'll have to ramp up the trips to the gym and up the amount of water to just stay at the same weight.

First off, congrats on walking 6 miles! I don't know how you ladies do it. Walking and running for miles and miles. I do two and I'm ready to collapse. :confused3

Also I feel the exact same as you on the holidays! ALL of my memories are tied up in holiday treats too. It goes hand in hand with Christmas for me.

I know everyone says to focus on the family time and not the food, but in my family it was always the same. When we got together there was always lots of food. Cooking and baking were just what we did together.

My mom is a great baker, and some of my best memories are of the two of us baking together. So it's hard to be in a holiday spirit without wanting to bake something.

I never weighed in because 1) I woke up too late 2) I was so lazy today. I hope I haven't gained too much since last week I lost 4.5lbs. I'm just glad Christmas isn't for another few weeks, that way I can get back on board and lose weight before christmas.

I went to the library and checked out a healthy baking cookbook and I'm looking forward to trying some new recipes and trying to reducd the calories on some of our favorite items. I'll let you know if any of the items are successful.

We are on a really tight budget this year and we decided to make presents for our co-workers and other non-family members presents. We made jam earlier this year, but I still need to round out the gifts, I thought of baking scones to accompany the jam, but now I'm second guessing myself and may just make some different types of jam so I don't have to bake at the last minute for each event. Hopefully that will get me through the desire to cook and since it will be for gifts I won't be tempted to indulge.

I'm still working on that. :sad2:

That sounds good. I'll be interested to hear how they turn out.
I like your idea of the homemade jam. :)

Hi, ladies! I have decided to recommit to my weight loss 100%. After this holiday and really *not feelin' it* (food wise), I think this may be the perfect time to start getting on track.

I just did not feel like eating turkey and all that other stuff. I had a little bit of everything. I did, however, have 2 slices of pie and a strawberry milk shake. :rolleyes1 The shake alone is over 20 points. Ouch.

I was putting on my jeans yesterday and they were so flipping tight AND they are the biggest pair I own. So, instead of spending money on bigger clothing, I am going to get my boo-tay in gear and start losing again. I have no clue how much I weigh, but by how tight my jeans are, I am guessing over 205. :headache: As embarrassing as that is to admit, it is the truth. I am so ready. I think I hit rock bottom.

January, you can totally do it. I know you are always so busy and under a lot of stress at work, school, home, etc. but you are strong and I know that once you make up your mind to do something, you do it!

I need to get back on track too. I keep saying that, I know. And then I blow it. BUT I refuse to give up, which is half the battle right there. In the past I would have quit by now and just gained it all back.

I've been gaining over the past two weeks and am back at 220 from 214. :sad2: That depresses me to no end and I hate that I had to give back my 45 pound banner. :(

BUT it also makes me determined to get back to where I was. My goal before the New Year (Jan. 1st) is to be at 209 which would be an 11 lb loss, so I am striving for that right now.

We can all do this!!!!! It's not easy but each and everyone of us has already come so far! Let's keep at it!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Hi. Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving break. It sure was nice to have a few days off work doing not much of anything. We did get our Christmas tree last night and decorated it, so it is feeling very festive already at home. I don't think I would have started with the holidays so soon, but my DS3 was so excited, I decided what the heck!

Tomorrow I leave for Chicago on a business trip for a few days. I will bring my sneakers and will try to spend some time in the fitness center. We'll see how that goes! Also will try not to do TOO bad in the eating.

Oh, I signed up for the DL Half Marathon last night. There's a discount code that lasts until the end of December, if anyone is interested... I haven't signed up for the 5k yet, but would love too, if there's anyone out there who wants to join me!

Good luck getting through the holiday seasons everyone! Remember to give yourself the gift of health. If you really want to bake, choose those treats which are lower fat. Plan your meals. Exercise. All those boring tried and true methods will get you through the holidays.

And now for my quote. Might as well make this a QUOTE OF THE WEEK, since I may not be getting much DIS time while I'm on business travel.

Don't Quit

When you've eaten too much and you can't write it down,
And you feel like the biggest failure in town.
When you want to give up just because you gave in,
and forget all about being healthy and thin.
So What! You went over your points a bit,
It's your next move that counts...So don't you quit!
It's a moment of truth, it's an attitude change.
It's learning the skills to get back in your range.
It's telling yourself, "You've done great up till now.
You can take on this challenge and beat it somehow."
It's part of your journey toward reaching your goal.
You're still gonna make it, just stay in control.
To stumble and fall is not a disgrace,
If you summon the will to get back in the race.
But, often the struggler's, when loosing their grip,
Just throw in the towel and continue to slip.
And learn too late when the damage is done,
that the race wasn't over...they still could have won.
Lifestyle change can be awkward and slow,
but facing each challenge will help you grow.
Success is failure turned inside out,
the silver tint in a cloud of doubt.
When you're pushing to the brink, just refuse to submit,
If you bite it, you write it....But don't you quit!

Thanks Beth! I know you can get back on track too! You are such an inspiration to me. Seeing how great you look in those pictures has made me want to really get on track.

I am hoping to lose 5 pounds by Christmas. Small baby steps for me.:thumbsup2

Great advice! I also heard that we should look at "the holidays" as one holiday. One day. One day where we can enjoy the treats and just relax and not worry. Then on the day after, get back on track.:thumbsup2

Today was not too bad. I didn't eat breakfast. I thought I had some oatmeal left and I realized I didn't on my way out the door. Oh, well. So I was so hungry at lunch. I had a WW meal with a banana. I am being trained on some new gradebook software, so I had to stay after until five. That is how it will be all week. So, I need to have a snack for the afternoon because I am so hungry by the time I get home. So, my DH ordered out tonight. He got me a taco salad with grilled chicken. I used salsa as a dressing and no shell. I know that taco salads are death when trying to lose weight, but I think I adjusted things as well as I could. I am planning meals for the rest of the week. Actually, I am going to pop some turkey meatloaf in the oven for tomorrow so we can just reheat it when we get home tomorrow night.

I also only had one soda today! That is major for me. I usually have at least 4 a day.:rolleyes1

I hope you all are having a good day!

eating has been so-so today, I'm hoping to make it to the gym. Unless I can't overcome this sleepyness.

Hi everyone!

We CAN do it!!! I totally feel everyone's comments (too many quotes to try and fit and I LOVED the quote of the week).

At our WW meeting today the leader was talking about how when her kids were babies and they would cry she would try and figure out what was wrong and alot of the time she would say "Well you can't be hungry, because you just ate". She was talking about how little she used that phrase in her own life. We talked about how many times we eat when we aren't hungry at all. I know that its a HUGE problem for me. My worst times are in the evening. I'm not really hungry, but just used to eating while watching TV or on the computer. My goal for this month is to not eat anything after 8:30pm. Hopefully I'll get to a point where I'm not cruising the kitchen in the evenings.

Weighed in today and didn't lose anything, but didn't gain anything either so I'm good with the results of the week.

Good luck on the business trip. I know how difficult it is to eat healthy while at a hotel.

Yesterday was not the greatest day---food wise. I ate great all day and was making a really healthy dinner:
Turkey Meatloaf Muffins, baked potatoes, salad and corn on the cob. Well...something happened with my pan because the metal had clung to the meat and had some sort of teflon looking stuff attached. GROSS! I plan on complaining to the company. I bought the pan at Macys and it wasn't cheap. Anywho---so we ended up eating the baked potatoes, salad and corn and I opened a can of chili to put on the potatoes. I was really looking forward to my meatloaf. Oh well.

I LOVE this. Thanks!!
Hope your trip goes well. We will miss you here!!

Thanks Beth! I know you can get back on track too! You are such an inspiration to me. Seeing how great you look in those pictures has made me want to really get on track.
Thanks. Today is the first day in about 2 and a half weeks that I feel like I am going to get back in track.
So far, so good. I had my oatmeal for breakfast and am drinking my water.

I also only had one soda today! That is major for me. I usually have at least 4 a day.:rolleyes1
Way to go!!!!!!!!!! I know how hard that is. I am a total diet soda addict. Good job!!!

OMG, wow. That is so true. I am totally guilty of that myself. I'm going to remember that and hopefully it will help. Thanks.

I bought the pan at Macys and it wasn't cheap.
Ugh, that sucks. I hope they exchange it for you.

I hope you all are having a great night. I am doing ChaCha right now and watching Kath & Kim. I should be working out.
