Disneyland Divas working out, getting healthy, and looking fine in '09!!

Do we do a weekly weigh in and when is it? I'm being lazy and not looking through all the posts.

Congratulations Beth on your weight loss, awesome!!:thumbsup2
Yep, most of us weigh in every Friday. It's up to you if you want to post your weight or just your losses/gains. And each person has their own goals. Some are weight loss goals. Some are exercise goals. But it's up to you how you want to work it.

I have a new goal of 15 lbs gone by Halloween. But it's just something to shoot for. I'm trying to break them down into smaller goals. That seems more manageable then to say I need to lose a huge amount. kwim?

Thanks for the congrats! Soon I'll be saying the same to you!!!

MommaU4 - Congratulations on the 220's!! I may copy your method of writing down my menu the day before. I'm terrible at tracking.
Don't worry about slipping up. We've ALL been there. Just get right back on track. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the congrats. I've only been writing down my menu for 3 days now, but I can already see how it's helped me.

The evening before, after dinner when I'm full, lol, I'll go into the kitchen and look through my fridge and cupboards and see what I want for breakfast, lunch and dinner the next day.

If it's something I need to measure, I'll do that the night before, and I'll not only write down what I'm going to eat, but the calories too.
So then the next day all I have to do is look at my menu and it's all ready to go. I don't have to stand there in my kitchen when I am hungry trying to figure out what to make. That's when I end up overeating cause I'm grabbing everything I can find. LOL

Also having it all written down really helps keep track of what I've eaten over the day. They say that those who keep a food journal lose more weight then those who don't. Not sure why but hey, I'll take it! ;)

Hi Shirley!!!! So glad to see you here! If I remember correctly you were one of the big weight loser's of our group last time...that doesn't sound as good as it should!:lmao: Of course, so was I!:rotfl2: We can do it again!:cheer2: So, you going to come with us on this trip...huh...huh...will ya...huh? It would be soooo fun! We could go on splash mountain!

Sarah
P.S. We normally weigh in on Friday's but there are some in the group who have different weigh in days!
Hey Sarah! How was work today?? I don't know how you do it. I am pooped and ready for bed. LOL

Oh, and I think Shirley's a pro by now..... She'll go on Splash, Space, AND Tower of Terror. :rolleyes1

Right Shirley?? :rotfl:

This is a great question! I'd LOVE to get some tips on healthy eating at Disneyland. Here's some ideas from me.

Some healthy food options in Disneyland:
-Enlightened (sugar free) Jamba Juice at Downtown Disney
-Salads with dressing on the side (and dip your fork in the dressing before you eat, rather than putting dressing on the salad) - This is a great idea and one I already do at any restaurant
-Pineapple spears in Adventureland - YUMM
-Fresh Fruit on Main Street
-Frozen apple juice drink in DCA (I got one in Bugs Land)
-Yogurt, cereal, fruit at Whitewater Snacks
-Fruit plate (but stay away from the muffins) for breakfast in Tomorrowland
-Poached eggs on toast (without butter) at many sit down and order breakfast places
-Oatmeal with fresh fruit at many sit down breakfast places
-Subway sandwich on Harbor

Tips:
-Bring healthy snacks with you to eat between meals - adding Fiber One snack bars to my backpack
-Plan your meals (use allears.net for menus) - will absolutely check this out

Treats that aren't all that bad:
-Cotton candy
-Dole Whip (as far as I can figure, but someone may prove me wrong here) - I already know that I'm getting a Mickey Premium Bar 8pts on WW but WORTH every point (plus its a tradition)

Question:
What about those turkey legs? Are those good or bad?

And remember you'll be doing a ton of walking and definitely earning a treat or two! It's Disneyland after all!

I just wish there was a way to see the nutritional values of the items on the menus. I guess Disney just doesn't publish that info.

Don't know how to do the multiple quotes but loved the tip about the cup of ice. I'm planning on bringing a refillable water bottle and that will help keep the water cooler. I think I've got the restaurants down that have water spigots where I can refill the bottle instead of water fountains, but the water just isn't very cold.

I'll try and take lots of pictures (better see which of the boys will be willing to let me borrow their camera for the weekend) and post them (will have to figure that out as well).

For all you Bay Area people - did you feel the earthquake at 9:00pm? We just felt a little movement (the animals didn't act weird in our house) but definately knew it was an earthquake and not just a big truck or heavy wind.

Anyone remember this?

Sarah

Earthquake! Oh my, hope everyone is ok!

Don't know how to do the multiple quotes
You know how when you quote someone, you have to click on the box in their post with the word Quote on it?
Then there are two boxes next to that. The one in the middle has quotation marks " and a plus sign in it.

Click on that middle button in all the posts you want to quote. It should light up a red color when it's clicked. Once you've clicked on all the posts you'd like to reply to, simply hit the Post Reply down at the bottom left of each page. All the quotes you chose will show up and you can reply to each one individually.

I hope that helps!! LOL

Oh and I think it's kind of sneaky of Disney not to post their nutritional information. I don't really like that they keep it secret.

Nice picture!!

Just finished my long run -- 6 miles. Sure feels nice to start out the weekend taking care of myself and getting my major exercise of the week out of the way. Doesn't seem like such a great idea when I get up at 7am on Saturday, but at 10am when it's all said and done, I'm glad I did it.

So for the QUOTE OF THE WEEKEND:
Goals provide the energy source that powers our lives. One of the best ways we can get the most from the energy we have is to focus it. That is what goals can do for us; concentrate our energy.
Denis Waitley

Have a great weekend everyone!

:scared1: SARAH!!! :rotfl2: Ugh, I so hate, hate, hate my pic being taken. :rotfl: (For those who don't know, in the pic is (left to right) Shirley (our newest member), January (daisy_77), Tammy (another DISer), and me.)

But it's cool to see that. What the heck are those wristbands from? That pic looks like it was taken at Animal Kingdom. And I think I wore my brown shirt to AK, so it must be.

Man, remember how freakin hot and humid it was??? Not as bad as summer but still. :rotfl: And those love bugs?? Ick! :scared: They didn't land on you or anything but I remember they'd be covering the benches and trash cans at the Coronado Springs bus stops. Oh wait, I take that back, they seemed to like January. :rotfl2:

And remember the problems I was having with my ankle?? Ugh, stupid thing. It was so swollen and red, but it didn't hurt thank goodness. Then once I got back home it was back to normal within a few days and my doc couldn't really say for sure what had happened to it.

It sounds like I'm complaining but I'm not. I had so much fun with you guys!! :yay:
And I'm so excited to see old friends and new ones in March, and make new memories!!!! :)

Great quote too, as always. Thanks!

Hi Sarah, how you doing?

OMG, how did that thorn get in with all those roses! Man I take a horrible picture, maybe next time I will look better (maybe that program "The Swan" will take me). :rotfl2:

Oh, and I think Shirley's a pro by now..... She'll go on Splash, Space, AND Tower of Terror. :rolleyes1

Right Shirley?? :rotfl:

DD couldn't get me on Tower of Terror, nope no way. She did get me on Space Mountain, Thunder Railroad and Splash Mountain (I'm such a good momma).

Sarah I was good and didn't say a bad word like I did when I went on Splash Mountain with you and Beth. It could be because I had dgd right beside me but I did scream like a girl. :rotfl2:

Beth, when I weighed yesterday I was 160...sigh.

BETH - Way to go girl! You hit that 220's mark! I'm so proud of you!:woohoo:

JEN - Wow, six miles is AWESOME! What an accomplishment!:cheer2:

SHIRLEY - Welcome to our group! :grouphug:

I've been so busy lately, I haven't had much time to check in on the boards. All this last week was comprised of "first week of school" stuff (which was A LOT of stuff with two kids now in school), baby sitting, chores, and........I'm going to go back to school myself to get my teaching degree!:teacher:

I already have a B.A. from Eastern Washington University, but now that both my kids are in school, I need to keep busy myself and GET A LIFE outside of being a stay-at-home-mom. But, of course I still want to be here for my kids, and a teaching profession would give me that opportunity to be on the same schedule as them. Also, because Ryan (my oldest who is 9) has learning disabilities and challenges that I've passionately researched to find creative ways to help him learn, I feel driven to do the same for other little guys and gals facing the same learning frustrations.

I've been researching some online programs, and I've narrowed it down to the University of Phoenix or Western Governors University. Both have great programs and both are accredited, but I still need to find out how much tuition is at the University of Phoenix. (They don't provide that info on their website. They make it so you have to contact them. )

Anyway, I know this has nothing to do with getting healthy and losing weight, but I just wanted to share it with you.

As far as me losing weight......don't ask.:sad2:

(I did walk a ton yesterday though because we went to the Spokane Fair, and we didn't leave until 10:30pm last night! My legs are SORE today!....but it's a good sore.:goodvibes )

Now I need to get busy and get our house cleaned up. We're having my MIL, BIL, and my mom and dad over for dinner tomorrow to celebrate my (GULP!) birthday. UGH! :scared:

I just don't get it:headache:

I worked out so hard this week and ate within my calorie count of healthy food and I stepped on the scale and I'm still at 251! This is the 2nd week!

My mom said it's because even though I'm losing fat, I'm also building muscle.

WHATEVER

I think my scale is all wrong. If my mom is right, I wish I could lose all the fat and then gain the muscle.

GRRRRRR.:mad::headache::mad::headache:

I don't feel like quitting and I'm far from it, but it's nice to have a reward after all the hard work I've done this week.:sad2:

Ok, now this is getting scary...first the church thing, then the disney store and walmart thing, now we weigh the same! What is going on here! At least I know we are not the same age, but come on...this is getting twilight zone here! I also stayed the same this week and I weigh 252!
Well, we will just have an amazing weight loss this next week! Maybe we can even both get under 250! I never want to be above that number again in my whole life!

The wrist bands were for MNSSHP. This was taken near Pirates at MK! And I have to agree about those love bugs! I have never seen anything like it in my life! They were awful...especially at Hollywood studio and Animal Kingdom! Yuck! And you take very nice pictures by the way!

Hi Sarah, how you doing?

OMG, how did that thorn get in with all those roses! Man I take a horrible picture, maybe next time I will look better (maybe that program "The Swan" will take me). :rotfl2:

I think this is a lovely picture! You all look great! And I believe I have the same purse you do! I was using it up until about 2 months ago when my grandma got me a new one...yup, you read right, grandma is still buying me things! Crazy woman. I just turned 30 and my mom still gets me valentines day presents...not just a chocolate heart or anything, we are talking clothes, jewlrey, etc.! I am going to have to put my foot down about it this year...I mean christmas, ok, but valentines day and easter?!?:sad2: So, shirley, you had never gone on splash before and we went together, so maybe we can go on TOT?:scared: :thumbsup2

See, when you come with us, you can swear away!! :rotfl2:

Oh, and you weighed 160 yesterday and next week you will weigh less. :thumbsup2 Get a notebook or journal or something, and write it down. Maybe take measurements too. I have just a spiral notebook here at home that I started tracking my weight in.

Thanks for the congrats. And GOOD FOR YOU on going back to school!!! Wow, that is awesome!!!

I know what you mean about having a life while the kids are in school. I keep thinking I need to do something now, but I have no interest in teaching and only went to a year of college so my choices are pretty limited. I have to have something that will keep me on the kids schedule because I still need to be here with them, before and after school, weekends and of course on their breaks. So that makes it darn near impossible unless it is something with the school. With all the cut backs though, they aren't hiring anything but teachers.
Oh well.

Anyway, that's great news and I hope you have a Happy Birthday!!!

OMG, Cristabel I totally know how you are feeling!! It's so frustrating isn't it???? I was like that the whole month of August and that's why I was getting so bummed out.

But as everyone told me, you just have to hang in there. You are working hard, you are eating healthy and no matter what the scale says, you are doing the right thing. That will show eventually. I promise you.

Maybe we can even both get under 250! I never want to be above that number again in my whole life!

Well, thanks but I don't think so.

I thought after I posted they might be for MNSSHP, but wasn't sure.

I can't believe that was taken in MK. I thought for sure I wore that shirt to AK. Maybe we park hopped.....Oh well, it doesn't matter. I can barely remember what I wore last week let alone 2 years ago! :rotfl2:

You are lucky!! Your Mom and Grandma were so cool. I loved meeting them that one day before dinner at Whispering Canyon. I think it's great they still want to spoil you. :goodvibes

And I definitely think you need to get Shirley on ToT.

Ahem. I'll sit that one out. :rolleyes1
