Disneyland Divas working out, getting healthy, and looking fine in '09!!

Hi there! I'm just checking in to say I've been on a major walking kick this week and have walked for 45 minutes twice a day Monday and Tuesday, and I've done one 45 minute walk this morning. I'm planning on walking again this evening when it fainall cools down. Anyway, a brisk walk is feeling really good in the morning! You should try it!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey all!!

Sarah ~ I'm sorry you're starting to feel sick. Take care of yourself.

Tina ~ Way to go on the walking!! Good for you! :cheer2:

Cristabel ~ I'm so glad to hear things are going well for you! Keep up that great attitude and enthusiasm. :cool1:

Capri ~ You do not suck! Now hush before I drive up to WA and kick your butt. LOL Seriously, I think if you signed up for the WW online it would help alot. I'm going to look into it as well. I like the idea of nothing being off limits as long as you stay within your points. :thumbsup2

Oh, and I'm sorry you had a bad weigh in experience when you were pregnant. I remember with my first, my doctor literally yelled at me one week because I'd gained 9 pounds in just 7 days!!! I felt so bad. She was a cranky doc. LOL

Anyway, I hope everyone is doing ok and it won't be long before Friday!!! :yay:

I'm doing so-so this week and last week. Last week, I came down with some type of bug (sore throat, body aches, fatigue, sneezing). After about 3 days I was getting better, but then hubby (Justin) got it. He's now better, but this week the kids got it. Luke (our youngest) didn't get it too bad.....sore throat, sneezing, coughing a lot. But poor Ryan (our 9 year old) really got nailed with it. It seems he always gets the sickest. Anyway, Monday night he had a temp of 102, coughing his little head off, his eyes hurt from light, his head was heavy (he said). By 5:30am yesterday morning, he was still burning up with fever and throwing up. I got him settled back down in bed, gave him some more medicine and he slept until about 11:30am and seemed to be doing much better. His fever was gone all day, but then at about 5:00pm yesterday his fever was back.....not as bad at 100.2, but it was still back, so I gave him some more medicine. He slept in again this morning and seems to be doing better, although he's still coughing a bit and sniffling.

Hopefully we're all well by Friday because that's the day we're supposed to go to Silverwood Themepark to use the tickets we won.

Today so far I've had about 450 calories (1 piece of whole wheat toast with raspberry jam, a handfull of popcorn, and some cream of chicken soup). Is calories in/out the only thing that really matters in losing weight, or does it matter what kind of food it is (carbs, protein, fat, etc...)? I've heard by some "experts" that to lose weight, all that really matters is "calories in/calories out, PERIOD!" whereas other "experts" argue that it's not just calories, but the type of calories (carbs, proteins, fats, etc). I'm completely confused and becoming frustrated by my lack of progress.:sad2:

I think my metabolism is almost non-existant.

Got weighed in today at WW and I am down 3.5 pounds this week. Finally something to show for all the work.

Congratulations ! :woohoo:

Today was great day!

I ate 1291 calories, just shy of 1300! I burned 300 at the gym, completing 4 miles!:cool1: I feel great! Now I'm so tired! I started school today and it was really busy but I think it will be a great semester.

I'm going to start training outside because Nuts for Mutts is having a "5K walk with your dog" in October! I also want to participate in the CHOC walk at Disneyland. I would do the 5K at my city's marathon, but I'm working it:rolleyes:

YEAH!!! Good luck on your walks! You're doing so great! :cheer2: :cheer2:

As for what kind of food to lose weight...
I think that you can lose weight just by reducing calories, however, if you're not getting nourishment for your body and you're not getting satisfied, it's going to be hard to maintain such a low calorie diet. To be healthy, it's very important to look at things like fiber, low fat, etc. That's the good thing about WW points, it takes that into consideration for you (to a large extent), so you don't have to think too much.

Remember, the goal is not just to lose weight, but to be fit and healthy, and you definitely need to follow basic healhy food guidelines to get all your nourishment.

And for the QUOTE OF THE DAY

Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going.

You all are just going to love this. I have to work 13 days in a row with 2 doubles (16 hour shifts) thrown in for good measure. While everyone else has labor day off, I work from sun up to way after sun down. I have still been doing well with eating but I admit to not working out...when would I do it? Tonight I was working on dinner, bath for ds, shaving legs, and uploading pictures of my newborn so I could get them printed and in the necessary photo albums. Now it is almost 11 and I have to go take more cold medicine and get to bed so I can get up tomorrow and do it all over again...plus I have a friend from work coming over tomorrow afternoon to visit! I am exhausted. I will try to check in often, but if you don't hear from me for a while, don't worry too much!

Sarah

P.S. Saw a couple of pictures of me tonight...I honestly had no idea my butt was that big!

Sarah: Good luck with your challenging work schedule. Just think, more disney bucks...more disney bucks. And exercise every opportunity you can get: while sitting in chair, walking stairs, etc. And water!

My week has been just awful in terms of exercising. I haven't since the race. I was supposed to take a couple days off and then took a couple more...I'm just running back and forth from Max's school, to work, back to school. Hopefully, we will settle into a new schedule soon.

So for the QUOTE OF THE DAY:
The only disability in life is a bad attitude.
-Scott Hamilton

Capri ~ How's everyone feeling?? Better, I hope.

Sarah ~ How in the heck do you keep up those hours??? :worship:

Jen ~ Sorry it was a rough week as far as exercising goes.

This was a very hard week for me. Not sure why. So who knows what the scale will tell me tomorrow. All I can do is keep at it and don't give up!!

Good luck tomorrow ladies!!!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2:

I lost 3 lbs this morning! I haven't been able to change my ticker yet because we are still having computer issues...my dh jerryrigged this so I could at least get on and say hi! Hopefully I will be back up to full computer power soon! Hope all of you had as good a w/i as I did!

Sarah

Oh, and January, DH lost 3 this week too after only 3-4 days doing the additional points, so thank you so much!

Congrats to you and your DH Sarah!!! Sorry about the computer issues though.

It's Friday!!! Where the heck are all our Disneyland Diva WISHers???? Come on ladies!! Let's do this. :yay:

Well, I should have done better this week. I know I cheated way too many days, but I was able to lose 1.2 lbs. so I am now at 230.6

My DL trip is coming up October 13 and my goal is to be into the teens by then. Even if it's only 219. lol So I'm going to have my mind set on that. I'm walking in the mornings and afternoons. It's not a long walk, but it's something.

Good luck everyone!!! Come on, now's the time to get healthy before the holidays arrive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :scared1:

CONGRATULATIONS SARAH! :cool1: :cool1: :yay: :yay: :dance3:

Well I'm afraid this week went as poorly as last week went well.

No exercise :( But I'm cutting myself some slack since I did run the 10k last weekend and have been working hard for that event. I need to set up a follow on appointment with my personal trainer to get my new training schedule, as the last three months were working up to that event and now I need to train for my new milestone.

But somehow, someway I will get out for a run tomorrow. :cheer2:

No weight loss, but no weight gain.

So for the QUOTE OF THE DAY:
Patience and perseverance have a magical effect before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish.

Congrats to you and your DH Sarah!!! Sorry about the computer issues though.

Congratulations Beth! :cool1: :yay:

And GREAT job on the walking. Step by step, just keep moving! :woohoo:

Congratulation to those that have lost weight or maintained it!

I didn't do well this week. I gained the weight back. so I'm back to 211. August really hasn't been my month, if it wasn't one thing it was another. September shall be different though! Hopefully my schedule gets back on track and I'll be able to get some exercise in again.

Keep up the great work everyone, I hope to join the celebration circle soon!

I have cheated this week, too. Hopefully I will lose something, even if it is only half a pound.

Beth, 219 is TOTALLY do-able by your trip. I'm currently 251 and I want to be in the 230s (even if it's 239) by my October trip. I just need to get better adjusted to this school schedule, this has been my first week and I'm POOPED.

I felt really bad after having a horrible breakfast and early afternoon snack so I went to the gym and burned 505 calories! I did 1.5 miles on the treadmill and that's in addition to my required 3 miles (elliptical and bike)! In a little while we're going to my aunt's house to go swimming. I'll be doing some laps to work out my arms some more.

GRIZBUZZ! I WAS RUNNING ON THE TREADMILL!:goodvibes

I also did some sit ups a push ups. Apparently I'm losing some of my 'Hello-goodbyes' (underarm flab) and my muscles are more prominent now :thumbsup2

It's only 4pm and I've already eaten 1410 calories!:sad2: But I have started NOT eating after 6pm, with all the water I have been drinking I don't feel hungry at night.

Weighing in tomorrow, wish me luck!:wizard:

Good luck tomorrow Cristabel! We can do this!

Jen, you trained so hard for your run, you deserve a break. You'll get back to your exercise routine soon.

Wendy, keep at it!! You will be in the celebration circle before you know it!

Good morning all! My dh fixed the computer last night so I can now DIS again! My cold was pretty bad the last couple of days but I am feeling markedly better this morning so I hope that continues...I am only on day 7 of my 13 day stretch at work! My kids are going to their nana's today and my dh will pick them up on his way home from work so I will have at least 3 hours of alone time when I get home from work (unless I am forced out again!:scared1: ) I will probably vacuum and if it is nice I need to go out and weed my flower bed! It has been mostly rainy and cold around here lately!

I can't believe the holidays are right around the corner! I need to put up my fall decorations in the next couple of weeks! It will be a strange holiday season for me as it is my first in my new job. I will be working all holidays which I have not had to do in years! I am kind of bummed about that but at least we get holiday pay - double time. I am trying to look on the bright side, can you tell! I will be missing my daughters first christmas, etc. We will have our own celebration on a different day I am sure, but still...there is something about waking up christmas morning and doing presents and the food cooking that is so special. Oh well, no use getting bummed out yet...it is only August!

Hope everyone has a great day and drink that water (good job cristabel!)

Sarah

Didn't gain but didn't lose.
:confused3
I'll have a better week this week.

So my friend and I are considering going to Disneyland either this Wednesday or next Wednesday. We really need it, we can't wait until October.

Sarah, I'm sorry you'll have to work all those holidays especially Christmas. But she's still little and there will be many more magical moments to share with her and your family.
Actually in my house, Christmas Eve feels more magical then in the morning anyways. LOL

And wow, with all those double times, you'll have no trouble saving for March!!! :yay: :yay:
