Disneyland Divas working out, getting healthy, and looking fine in '09!!

LOL Love the pudding painting! What a cool mom to let them have fun and get messy like that. :rotfl:

And the race pics were really great. That's so cool to see you all running and staying fit together. :thumbsup2

Got the idea for pudding painting from the show Jon and Kate Plus Eight. The painting part was great fun, but I must admit that the little one didn't care for the "getting cleaned off without a hose before mom will let you back in the house" part.

Thanks for all the support on the race. Appreciate it :goodvibes

Sorry about the computer troubles. Hope it's all fixed now.

Hi!
I did not have a good day yesterday. I ate too many points and there was a huge fire on the hill above my home. I thought we would have to evacuate. It was bad. Here is the link from the news if anyone is interested. 9 homes destroyed...thank goodness we were okay. I feel awful for the people that lost their homes.

OMG, Janauary! How scary. I'm glad you guys were ok and your house wasn't involved.

I heard on the news this morning about a fire in Idaho and immediately thought of you, but I didn't catch where it was or the details. So sad for those who lost their homes, and the lady who didn't make it. :sad2:

Growing up in SoCal we had fires all the time, but luckily none every came close to us.

Don't worry about going over in points yesterday. It was a rough day. Don't beat yourself up. We still have a ways to go until Friday and I know you'll do good!! :cheer2:

Jen, have you been over to my PTR lately? :rolleyes1 On the last page or two, I posted something you might want to see. :)

That IS very scary! I'm so glad that you're okay.

By the way, how do you know how many points a food is? Like what if you made yourself a grilled cheese sandwich, or a tuna sandwich, or scrambled eggs, or a steak, etc.....?

Very cool :goodvibes

I promise not to send you any more half used toiletries in the future. I just couldn't resist with those cute Mickey head lids :rotfl:

Weight Watchers has a patented point system. If you use their online program, you can search items (including restaurant/fast food) by name or type in key nutritional info (calories, fat, fiber) and get the point value. Basically, foods with less fat and more fiber have less points. I think it's a little better than just counting calories, as is does take into account fat and fiber.

I went to kindergarten orientation today. My little Max was nervous at first, even wanted to sit on my lap during the assembly (which is VERY unlike him). By the time his classroom orientation was over, he was pushing me away asking me not to stay so close to him, so he could check out the school without me holding him back. I think there's no turning back for him now. He moving on...and doesn't need mom hanging around.

So, now for the QUOTE OF THE DAY:

The ability to discipline yourself to delay gratification in the short term in order to enjoy greater rewards in the long term is the indispensable pre-requisite for success.- Brian Tracy

Not too thought provoking, but definitely good to consider. When passing up on that treat, remember, you're not denying yourself...your just choosing the reward of a healthier, fitter you down the line, over a piece of chocolate that will provide no happiness after a few short minutes.

Have a great day everyone!

Thanks for the awesome info Jen! I didn't know Weight Watchers had an online program. For some reason I thought you HAD to join in person and go to some kind of meeting or weigh-in every week, and then be cornered into buying their food and such......not really my cup of tea. But an online program sounds cool. I'll do a search for it and check it out.:thumbsup2

Awwwww, little Max is off to kindergarten. Well at least he did a little snuggling before he wanted some "space" from mom.

I love your quote of the day. I especially liked the one you posted this weekend about our gift of having two good legs for running. That one has stuck with me ever since you posted it.:)

Okay, I'm off to search for WW Online. :yay:

No, I loved them! They were totally cute! :goodvibes

Sounds like Max is going to do great in school. He might be moving on, but he will always need to know mom is there for him. That will never change.

Oh man, I wish I could have read that quote earlier!

I am having a bad week. Yesterday was really bad but it was sort of a planned bad, meaning Ruben and I went out to lunch while the kids were in school and we'd been planning that for awhile. And I made a special back to school dinner for all of us.

BUT today I was supposed to be back on track and I was.....until about an hour ago. :sad2:

I think saying I was going to shoot for a 4 lbs loss this week, is backfiring on me. Instead of being motivating, it's stressing me out and when I'm stressed, I eat. The more I eat, the more I panic I won't make my goal and I eat again.

Ugh, so frustrating. I so want to break into the 220's, even if it's just 229.5!! But I don't know if I'm going to make it this week. :guilty:

(Ignore me, I'm just having a pity party right now....)

Would it help to focus on the process rather than the results? I mean, get back to planning meals, counting calories, exercising -- and just trust that the results will happen. To get to 4 lbs in one week demands way too little food intake...and that would stress me out too :scared1: You've done so much good work getting new eating habits, just go back to those and let the results work for themselves on their own timeline.

It's with little setbacks like these that I think it's good to have a program like weight watchers..where you just count your points, do your exercise and don't think about the scale too much.

Hang in there Beth! You are doing great!!! :goodvibes

Yeah, maybe. I was really good about keeping a food journal in the beginning too and I've sort of stopped doing that.

Also I just need to not keep certain foods in the house. Tonight I caved on the Oreos and sourdough bread. Two of my favorite foods. If I know that, why did I buy them???? I said it was because Noelle likes the bread too and we had that with pasta last night, and I said the Oreos were for the kids lunch, but really who am I kidding??

I just need to keep that stuff out of the house because I obviously cannot resist it.

And I've been weighing myself daily which is also a big no-no and I know that.

Yeah, I need to regroup here and get back on track. Last thing I want to do is blow it all now.

Do any of you or I should say your kids, watch the show Drake and Josh? Well, one of the teens on there lost about 100 lbs! It took him two years he said, but he did it by eating right and working out.

When I first heard the two years part, I freaked out! I thought that was too long. but now I see it's really not. Not when you are doing it the slow, smart way. No starvation diets, no pills, no shakes, etc. Just exercise and healthy food.

I just have to be patient and trust that the results will show up eventually as long as I do what needs to be done.

Got weighed in today at WW and I am down 3.5 pounds this week. Finally something to show for all the work.

Today was great day!

I ate 1291 calories, just shy of 1300! I burned 300 at the gym, completing 4 miles!:cool1: I feel great! Now I'm so tired! I started school today and it was really busy but I think it will be a great semester.

I'm going to start training outside because Nuts for Mutts is having a "5K walk with your dog" in October! I also want to participate in the CHOC walk at Disneyland. I would do the 5K at my city's marathon, but I'm working it:rolleyes:

I hope you girls don't mind me posting this!

I'm hoping to get some sponsors for a 5K walk!

January! How terrifying! Don't worry about eating a little extra yesterday. That was soooo stressful! Just get back on track today. In the grand scheme of things one not so good day won't hurt you as long as you get right back on track! (Here that Beth!)

Beth, I agree that going back to basics may help! Sometimes I find myself guessing at the points instead of getting out my points calculator and actually figuring them out. I need to get back to that basic easy task and I could have better results, ya know!

It is great that Max started feeling so much more comfortable at school. It is hard on us moms but it should also be rewarding that we have done such a good job at raising them that they feel confident going forward, so good job Mom!

I have been doing well...even with eating taco bell last night. I figured the points and am right on! Having a good week and haven't been weighing myself everyday like I normally do...I am trying to ween myself from it. I think I am getting a cold. Sore throat started last night and now I have a slightly stuffy nose.

Gatta go to work...hope everyone has a better day today!

Sarah

Great job Stacie and Cristabel! You two rock!:woohoo:

Beth - you're doing a terrific job! Don't get down. Use what you've learned and stay the course to a healthy YOU!:thumbsup2

Jen - love the pudding painting! You're one of those "cool" moms!:cool1:

I found the online Weight Watchers program! I think it looks terrific.....right up my alley! I wish I had known about it earlier. I think it could help both myself and my hubby. (See, that Weight Watchers weigh in thing that Stacie described is a scare factor for me. It's one of the reason I've never even considered doing Weight Watchers. Jeez, I don't even want to go to the doctor when I'm really sick because I KNOW that I'm going to have to step on that scale......torture! And I have a horrible story of being weighed while I was pregnant that I won't go into, but it's the reason now that I hate being weighed. )

I made spaghetti for dinner last night, but I was a good girl and only ate a salad with some tuna and a vinegrette dressing. It was yummy! (It really was very yummy.) Of course after dinner I then proceeded to have a couple of beers and a few Cheez-Its. What? Don't worry, it was light beer.:rolleyes1

Okay, okay.......I admit it......I suck.:sad2:
