we decided to opt out of buying a package as we found cheaper flights and motel, but we do want to do the Disneyland dining plan. where does one buy these plans ? I know you can get them in the packages but what about with out a package? Thanks

You can call the disney ticket number and order the packet through them. They take orders for everything. (714) 781-4400

You can only get the Disney Dining Plan with a package...but you're not missing out on anything. You do not save money & could possibly lose money on it. You are given vouchers ($15, $10, snack & character meal). You do not get change back on them & have to be careful how you use them, so you don't lose money. Also, they figure the character meal voucher on the highest priced meal & so if you don't do Goofy's Kitchen, you lose money.
We decided, because we wanted to pre-pay as much as possible ahead of time, we bought Disney Gift Cards. You don't have to worry about figuring totals ahead of time. They work at the parks & resort hotel restaurants. You also can use them for merchandise. You won't be able to use them at some of the snack carts because they're not equipped with card machines.

Hope that helps!!

I forgot the disney gift cards!! thank you. are they good for all resturants on site? carts to?

I believe they are good anywhere that takes a credit card. So all restaurants in the parks and some carts.:thumbsup2 A MUCH better option than the Disneyland Dining Plan which unfortunately is nothing like WDW's.

Any restaurant in the two parks & the 3 resort hotels, as long as they have a credit card machine. Some of the snack carts aren't equipped for that so you would need cash.

I Have 3 disney gift cards, but can not figure out how to recharge them. I got them when we went to disneyworld .

You would need to go to a Disney Store to recharge them, or wait until your trip and do it there.

Interestingly, you *can* buy the dining plan by calling WDTC, even if you don't have a package. Not many people here use the plan at all, so there aren't many people to use as examples, but an every-so-often poster did it last December-ish.

And gosh, why wouldn't they, right? It's just vouchers, and it's hard to really get more than your money's worth... :)

If you see a cart that's more permanent, that will likely take cards/giftcards. If you see one that can be pushed around, they won't have the capability. So take a little cash if you like your ice creams and such. Also, the ATMs at Disney are Chase, so if you have Chase or former-WAMU you're in luck!

We originally purchased the dining plan on it's own but dropped it. It is available but to us it just wasn't worth not being able to use it everywhere.

I did the dining plan in 2004 and it was great. we did the goofys kitchen, and we had meals at the resturants I made reservations to. we also used the snack coupons well so we never did have a problem with them. But gift cards are the way to go so I will be purchasing these. I did them in walt disney world and they worked out well.
