Just wondering and concerned . . .

How are you guys doing out there? The news and weather reports from the area are so horrid :scared1:

hoping you all are safe

I'm in Northern CA, right above Sacramento. We are fine here. So much rain and wind though. Lots of broken tree branches and some flooding in our yard. Our back fence is down (160') and that appears to be it. (fingers crossed) We made trenches last night for the water to drain to lower ground.
Driving hasn't been fun. I work as a tech for the phone company and drive from central office to central office. I am glad I do my phone work inside! But I do drive in the foothills and mountains (Auburn, Dutchflat, Grass Valley, Georgetown to name a few) The wind makes it hard. It was snowing in Georgetown yesterday. Oh and the other people on the road just don't slow down when it's this bad out...:confused3 why, I don't know.

I feel for the people in SOCAL. After the fires last year and now all this rain....mud slides come next....
hope they are safe

It's rained nearly non-stop since Monday, and today is supposed to be the worst of it. We needed the rain, but this is ridiculous. DW and I are both teachers, so thunder, tornado warnings, and lake-sized puddles are certainly testing the limits of our patience and teaching abilities. We'd hoped to eat dinner at DCA last night, but that was a no go.

Honestly though, we are doing fine. No problems, but we're looking forward to sunshine this weekend. :goodvibes

I'm in Central California and the story is the same here: lots of rain, tornado warnings and flood warnings. But so far, I think there was only 1 tornado sighting.

We are by San Francisco and have been experiencing moonsoon type rain. Our area lost power for awhile and my usual twenty min ride to work took two hours on Tuesday. Just awful.
I think we are officially out of drought now! Two more days and we are supposed to get a break!

Heard on the news last night that we are still not at 50% of normal!
The water is just not soaking into our ground up here. When I was digging the other night to direct the water to drains, the ground/dirt was dry just inches below the surface. We have so much hard pan and that makes the water just sit on top and flood the area.

Should see the sun for Saturday and part of Sunday and then it starts again!

Hey Marilee, et al.

We're all fine here - we had a big dry out this weekend with lots of sun. There were lots of areas near the mountains that were starting to worry about mudslides. Luckily our friends that live in that area did alright.

We also had the fortune in our area of it stop during most of the communting hours, so that the drive home was safe, but the winds were high and there were many trees in the srea that were uprooted.

On the flip side - the mountains are starting to green up here in the south - always a joyful sight!
