We are planning a trip to CA for xmas 2004. We could start in San Fran and be there at Christmas time and then head to DL or in reverse. Which would you vets suggest? We would be arriving the 22nd or 23rd, is there cool xmas stuff before that will not be there after--Santa etc.? We will be traveling with toddlers through teenagers. How about crowds either time better?

Thanks for any info.

Disnneyland is very crowded the week of Christmas. While I would personally rather end my vacation at a Disney location you may want to hit them first. I have been to Disneyland only in the first two weeks of december and it is fine on weekdays but crowded on the weekends. Evenings get very crowded too as there are many Annual Passholders who come in after work for the nightly fireworks and snow.

HOWEVER, if shopping is your thing. All the Christmas merchandise is 50% off starting the day after Christmas.
We usually start our annual trip to Disneyland the day after (and stay the week), and the first place we hit is the Christmas store in NOS, shop like fools, take the train back up the the newsstand and have them hold all our treasures till we leave for the day (so we don't have to haul them around)

But yeah, it is gonna be nightmare crowded either way, but just in case you are thinking about shopping.....

all of the Christmas specific stuff runs from the day after Thanksgiving till January 4th.
I would get to DL as early as you can !
