Disneyland App bummer

After reading how so many people view the Disneyland App prior to trips, I decided I would download it as we're down to just 4 months. Well it's not compatible with my phone. My smart phone isn't even two years old, so I am pretty bummed. My husband's phone is older, so it's probably not compatible either. I'll have him check tonight. Here's Disney rolling out digital FP, wait time info, photopass, tickets, etc. and it's not compatible on all devices. Big Bummer for me!

Yeah, you need at least A 5.0 operating system. I installed it on my phone which has a 4.4 operating system (this was before they upgraded the app), and it still seems to work OK, but I'm considering bringing my tablet in the parks with me when I go in December if it stops working before then.

What platform does your phone use? Cause I had the app on my Galaxy S5 and now on my iPhone7 so I know it is available on both the Android and Apple stores.

The issue is the version of the operating system, not whether it's Apple or Android.

Can you check to see if there is anyway you can update your phone's operating system? It seems odd that a phone that is only two years old can't run the app. My only guess is that something is preventing your phone from updating its OS because Android 5.0 has been out since November 2014 and iOS 8.0 has been out since September 2014 (both of which indicates that your phone hasn't updated its OS since you got it - yikes!). Good luck and I hope you're able to update your phone's OS!

Thanks. I'll look into that. It says version 4.4.2 and does not give an option to update.

It's Android, but Google Play says it's not supported. Probably as others said because it should be 5.0

I've looked for a way to update mine, and there doesn't appear to be one. And I definitely got my phone after Nov 14, so I'm surprised to read that 5.0 has been out that long.

What carriers are you both using? I have AT&T and they've pushed the Android 6.0.1 update out already (at least that's what my phone is running). If it's one of the major carriers, maybe if you go to one of the stores, they can help you force an update...

The company website says my specific phone type should have update 5.0, but it doesn't. A quick internet search gives me complicated tutorials on how to upgrade, including clearing all data. Hmm...I'll have to check with my husband on this.

My guess in your case and mine is that we bought the phones after Nov 2014, but the phones were made before then.

I have AT&T. I was thinking maybe if I took my phone in they could update it for me. But then they may just press for me to buy a new phone.

My phone can't run higher than 5.0 I guess.

They will probably press you to buy a new phone...that's been my experience with almost any sales store like that...good luck!

Yeah, I had to manually update an Android OS long ago on a phone and I remember it being a pretty lengthy (and kind of nerve-wracking) experience. I wouldn't want to do that again...I hope you manage to figure out a way to upgrade the OS without having lose everything stored on your phone.

The issue with OS upgrade limits isn't usually the age of the phone, but the processor and when it was released. I could still buy an iPhone SE with an A9 chip direct from Apple. It would be a brand new phone to me, but it's obviously going to stop getting OS updates before the current phones with the A10 chip.

Mine's Consumer Cellular.

Yeah I definitely get this and it's pretty much what I figured. What is odd is the phone website says my phone updates to 5.0, but it didn't update and a quick search tells me it has to be done by a difficult process. I completely understand I won't be able to run Android 6.0, just not sure why I can't even get 5.0. It's also annoying that phone companies (AT&T, etc.) sell people phones that are essentially no longer being serviced. My Kindle took years to be out of date, but my phone was apparently out of date when I bought it.

My last Android phone was supposed to be able to get one particular update. Verizon pushed it to the phone. But the phone lacked the amount of allocated data memory to install it. You couldn't expand it, change how it was allocated, it was locked bu the manufacturer. And when it was released, it was the Verizon flagship phone, which made it's short useful life even more frustrating.

Other things you can try are renting a phone, buying a prepaid phone and reselling it after the trip before it loses too much value or if you have another device like an iPod maybe your phone can share data with that when you're using the app.

Good luck. :)

I downloaded the app and it worked. Showed Peter Pan had a 20 minute wait within 5 minutes of opening today. Later it was temporarily closed for a few minutes and then reopened with a 60 minute wait. Why? Why wait 60 minutes for Peter Pan in the morning? Come on people! It will still be a 60 minute wait later. Go ride something else that currently has a 5-10 minute wait. Also, Alice had a delayed opening and then opened with a 40 minute wait. Sheesh!

Shh! Let them wait! Those of us who know will take advantage and go ride HSM and Indy!
