Hi
We just bought DVC last week while on a cruise, so all this is new to me. We would like to do about 12 nights late July in DLR. We would be happy with a studio in GVC or a room in either hotel.
Would there be any chance of any of these at 7 months out? We'll want to book flights soon and really want to use our points.

Thanks

I would call your Guide and have him/her book your first reservation for you. If they say nothing is available, show you displeasure and make a comment that you are thinking about canceling your contract.

Watch the magic happen.

Thanks so much, thats very interesting.

When you say guide, do you mean the person that sold us the DVC?
Would it be ok to contact them even though it won't be till December?

Thanks

You now have a salesperson (Guide) assigned to you. It may be the person from the cruise and it may not. Since your reservation date is so far out the cancel contract idea won't work but the idea of maybe adding more points in the future will. Call MS, find out who your Guide is, make contact, and see what they will do for you.

Hi
I think I know who our guide is, he gave us his email address.
I'm still within the cooling off period to cancel, maybe I should mention that?
I honestly didnt realize when we signed that reservations would be so hard to come by. I told him we were planning to use it for california next year and he didn't say it would be a problem.

I think that you would be able to get something at one of the hotels -DLH or PP - but GCV will be difficult in the summer. There are not that many villas available. I really wish that they would let you use your points still at the GCHotel as that is my favorite. At the hotels your points wont go as far but they are ok. I would go for DLH if you have to go that route - new pool and recreation area and refurbs to the rooms should be done by then.

Good luck!

Since they are asking about 7 months, I assume it is not their home resort. 7 months for late July would not be until late December. A guide is not going to jump the home resort priority window. It isn't even available for VGC owners until the end of this month.

There are a lot of things that they don't tell you :sad1: and it sounds like you have a lot to learn. :teacher:

They can't make a reservation for you now due to the dates but that doesn't mean that you can't ask him to make you a reservation at 7 months if availability is a problem. Guides if motivated enough, can sometimes find Disney inventory which isn't available to the DVC.

Good luck

Booking 12 nights at any non-home resort can be a problem, but especially at the GCV, which only has 50 units. With Carsland opening next summer, GCV will probably be particularly difficult to book.

If you need certainty, you will be able to book at either PPH or DLH. However, once booked, you cannot later try for a few nights at GCV. Those points will be reservation points and if you cancel a night, will need to be used for another hotel or cruise reservation.

If you recently bought, you might want to cancel the purchase and make sure that buying the points is the right thing for you right now. -- Best of luck -- Suzanne
