I apologize in advance if I am posting this in the wrong section/forum!

I'm a Canadian who has been planning his own trip for myself and my girlfriend =) I will be down in Anaheim from August 19th to August 26th (Right in the middle of summer, I know... It shall be hellish) and I'm having a little trouble finding a hotel.

I'd love to hear what/where you guys liked from previous experiences and what is the best way to go about getting a hotel =) I have around 5k air miles if that helps, and I'm fairly well-versed in the art of Priceline.

Anyways, I'll leave it short and sweet like this!

Thanks a ton =)

There are oodles of local hotels to choose from. My wife and I stayed at the Clarion Hotel Anaheim Resort -- we found a deal and the room was comfortable enough. Nothing fancy. We walked to the park entrances in 10-15 minutes, grabbing breakfast at 7-Eleven at the corner of Katella Ave. and Harbour Blvd.

The only non-Disney resort I've heard consistently good reviews is for the Candy Cane Inn. While the name is pure cheese, the staff and facilities have a solid reputation.

Disney resorts are expensive. And the Paradise Pier Hotel is a longer walk to the gates than the Candy Cane Inn and several other non-Disney hotels.

We stayed right across the street at the Howard Johnsons but there are several all in that area and they are very convenient since we could grab lunch outside of the park, have a swim and return to the parks. Check the Disney website...I think they are/were running a promotion involving free nights at the Disney hotels when you book 3 or more.

Lots of people post good reviews of the Howard Johnson Plaza. I have a friend who has stayed there twice and been happy. When we went we stayed at Staybridge Suites. It's not quite walking distance but we had a car so we didn't except the parking at DL is not nearly as efficient & in a parking structure instead of lots). We really liked Staybridge Suites because of the hot breakfast, suites so we didn't always have to eat all meals out, and mid-week manager's receptions. The staff were also super friendly and helpful.

Paradise Pier often has rooms under $100 if you want to be "on property". "On property" at DL is not the same as on-property at WDW, as DL is not secluded like the WDW resort; you can walk right up to the gates from the streets around it and there are several hotels in walking distance.

well we have stayed at La quinta Inn and Suites it was nice a little ways away, but there are buses that go around there as well.

A few friends have stayed at the tropicana and liked it as well.

Try dreams unlimited on here, they can give u a quote on a few hotels.

Good Luck

Thanks a ton for all the info here, guys =) It is very much appreciated!
I think my girlfriend and I are actually feeling pretty good about the "Candy Cane Inn," the reviews have all been really great and it may be just what we're looking for -something close and comfortable for the week we'll be in Anaheim. I'd love staying at the Grand Californian, but unfortunately I am still a student and can't entirely afford that haha.

Also, I actually did post a thread in the Disneyland specific forum haha, I would post the link but I do not have enough posts, sadly </3

Sorry for the short response, but your answers and help are very appreciated =)

Thanks again,
-Alex

I would love to stay there to but really I can't afford that!!LOL

My daughter and I stayed at the Hojo's across the street from Disneyland last year and thought it was great!

We would stay there again, we really enjoyed the hotel and there is a Mimi's restaurant right next to Hojo's which we ate at frequently (food was great and good value)

I loved the feeling that this was where it all began for Walt with the first theme park.... I had been told by a CM that every Sunday, Walt would go to the park to have breakfast on Main street..... so that's what we did :goodvibes so that we could walk in "Walt's" footsteps.

BTW... You MUST see the Aladdin musical :thumbsup2 It's worth the wait (If you book via CAA you can get a preferred seating ticket to use for this show) It's great and the jokes they do are always about current events :thumbsup2

Enjoy your trip to Disneyland :goodvibes

We enjoyed our stay at the Candy Cane Inn. Comfortable and very convenient.

I stayed right across the street at the Best Western Park Place Inn.

I stayed in a king sized bedroom. There was a seating area as you entered the room with a couch and coffee table. I believe the couch turned into a bed. Also had a fridge and a microwave.

They have a restaurant and you get a breakfast each morning. You can choose a hot meal from the restaurant or you can go upstairs to the buffet. It had cereal, toast, bagels, donuts, hard boiled eggs, danish, coffee, tea, juice and milk.

I would recommend the Best Western Stovalls Inn. We stayed there for a week last year and were very impressed. The rooms have been recently been renovated. It is a short walk to the Grand Calfornian and the parks. Since it is on the backside of the parks it seemed less busy to get to the parks. It had a free continental breakfast. And best all for us we had a cashed in Airmiles and got the Best Western gift certificates so the room was pretty much free.

There is a open air mall not far from Disney that was neat to check out. It has Bubba Gump and Cheese Cake Factory restaraunt.

We stayed at the Candy Cane Inn and were very pleased. They have a dedicated bus that takes you to Disney -very convient. We will stay there agin next year when we go.

We haved stayed at HOJO's too and it was great. However we had a 5 year old with us. If you are wanting to spend time in the hot tub ( which middle of August you may not) bear it mind that it is in the pirates cove play area which will be full of children. The fairfield inn gets lots of good reivews too. There is a thread on the disnelyland boards with photos of lots of the hotels which may help.

Hey everyone =)

Sorry for not updating this thread nearly enough! I ended up using the one in the actual Disneyland forum more than this one haha. We ended up booking a room at the HoJo across the street! We used our Entertainment card, so we have at least 15% off, which is very welcome haha.

Thanks a ton for all your guys' advice =)
